It appears that the UK hub is being replaced by India and it being made a main technical hub. I guess we did train our own replacements.

@jq let's be real, shell does not want anything to do with BP, only people who want this is you lot who work for BP. Shell are decades ahead in assets and profit, regardless of BP's size, they are a contaminated company full of pathetic employees.

Whats wrong with you lot shell will not merge with us, we carry so much debt. BP is a small player now, Shell are a supermajor, BP is a small to mid operator.
@a8 there’s no doubt a lot of synergy to what you highlight there and a quick look at shell’s layoff posts indicate much frustration with their India hub and potential expansion at the expense of the shell technology centre off HWY6, Houston. Long term, a merger between the two once they get their respective houses in order would be quite a global powerhouse. Who knows. That would be an interesting question to our CEO - have you or any or any 3rd parties at your behest, opened channels of comms with/between Shell for a potential merger in the years to come.
Always whinging, as long as we get shareholder value thats the only thing I care about. Send everything to India as long as the share price increases.

@a6 completely agree, this is something nobody talks about at national level. In the news they always talk about restarting the economy bla bla bla, but nobody ever mentions the facts that UK companies offshore thousands of good jobs eve year.
This is pretty much part of the conversation in national politics in France and Germany.

Part of the BP India team will go with the Shell-BP unification coming in 2027 (once both finish the current divestments). The other part may begin in Shell's Bangalore office but will ultimately go to Reliance in the long-rumored downstream merger.
One major disappointment that no one acknowledges openly is that the bp leaders (sitting in the uk) have sold out their own countrymen for supposed cheaper labour out of India. I hope they are proud of themselves as they will sort themselves with cushy jobs and avoid the layoffs entirely. Very sad
