Heard September 10 is when store leadership will be told and will break the news to their team members the next morning. Is this true? I was fearing this because of the strong push with ESL rollout. Store scanners are useless now.
Only asking because I’m not sure if I should be actively seeking out employment before everyone else does.

SSS has been “going away” for years just like buyers have been on the chopping block but it hasn’t happened yet. Zero clue what is going down but just want to say I hope GroceryGronk gets cancer and suffers immensely.
Just wait until the layoffs are announced. Severance is coming. The job market is sh-t. Good luck if you believe that Amazon isn't cutting workers. I don't know what fairy tale land you live in where you believe that Amazon is going to keep higher paid workers when their business model is literally high turnover to keep employee costs low.
All metrics driven no consideration beyond that. They need drop the facade that anything beyond money matters. Nobody appreciates you and you do not matter beyond the profits you generate. Satisfy and delight what a crock of sh-t.
@v1 a hostile takeover is when an entity acquires another entity against the wishes of the entity being acquired.
WFM fully agreed to and welcomed the acquisition by Amazon in 2016.
So this was never hostile.
That's not saying that the employees were/are happy about it, but it was never a hostile takeover.
Amazon, for a large part, let WF do their thing for the past 10 years.
Now Amazon is saying "no more". We will be running the show from here on out.

As far as the "smoke and mirrors" you speak of, some of those new stores were Amazon stores. As we all know, those stores didn't do well.
So now they are going to be WF stores. SP has 3 new and nearby stores opening within 6 months.
It su-ks but whatever happens we have no say in the matter. Can just wait it out at this point and see what happens and remember you are better that this sh-t retail job anyway.
@b3 it's been a hostile takeover since the acquisition. Team members are about to be cut. Severance will be offered. It will equate to ONE WEEKS PAY for every six months worked, up to a total of twenty weeks pay. COBRA will kick in for six months as your insurance will end when you are let go. TM discount is going away. You will receive a prime member benefit like the workers in the Amazon fulfillment centers get. PTO will be capped at acruing 48 hours a year. That is it. Use it or lose it. There is no rollover. WebTPA insurance is going away and you will only have the choice national plan from Blue Cross that Amazon offers. Most expensive higher deductible.

Nostrad-mb-a-s...the construction teams were signing 10 and 20 year property rental agreements like dr-nken sailors back in 2014 thru 2016 to sweeten the pot when AMZ was shopping wfm to distract from how poorly the company was run including missed opportunities so rumors about those openings were and are financially obligated. Planning to open 100 stores and telling everyone and their mother of the plan is not actually opening stores but more like long term financial bl00d letting. Once those contractual obligations run their course the store never opens. It's all smoke and mirrors hiding financial ruin. It doesn't take 10 years to do. One store makes 1 million a week for every 10 stores that make little or no money. WFM has always stove to mislead reality and investors all the while selling out and blowing sm0ke

@aj there are 114 new stores in development right now ... I don't think closing stores is in the cards. They want to expand their delivery footprint as much as possible.
I'd start looking. It's better to be safe than sorry. With the hostile takeover that is happening right now with Amazon, none of us are safe. At. All. Stores will be closing, positions will be cut, benefits will be aligned with Amazon, PTO accurals will be lessened as well. UKG scheduling will schedule you for a four hour shift, no one will be guaranteed a minimum amount of hours anymore either.
