I have heard of a merger with the PSLs. From 12 to 8 PSLs. This has come with layoffs. Can someone confirm this? What is going on? There is always something happening. I read the other chat saying it could be because of Shannon taking over Jeff.

@2bz actually I was a FT employee and got let go on Tuesday. They are laying off contractors and full time employees
Contractors are being let go. Next round would be full time employees.

thank GOD i fu--ing left. scmp's that su-k, incompetent managers, no room for promotion, no additional training, fck i even volunteered for all sorts of projects and was rejected meanwhile i was carrying a USELESS "coworker" for YEARS and he was still treated with kid gloves, nevermind the product lines that kept getting shipped out to singapore. tiger this tiger that, meanwhile tiger people stealing fcking millions in product. i just couldn't stand it anymore.

@13g Ahh yes, apparently only those who ace cognitive assessments, like the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which is used to screen for cognitive impairment and dementia, can understand and play 4D chess.
I took the MoCA test for fun. Good news, no cognitive impairment. Bad news, I can’t play 4D chess either.
@st only smart guys who ace in cognitive tests can understand 4D chess. I haven’t taken the test and I can’t play 4D chess.
J and K are more senior and experienced folks, who are also paid more. The strategy is to replace experience with AI and junior folks for a fraction of the cost.

@sg Hope is fine. What concerns me is the idea every painful outcome can be explained as part of some invisible 4D-chess strategy.
Prices haven’t come down? The plan just needs more time.
Jobs aren’t materializing? It’s all part of the strategy.
Things are getting harder? Trust the plan.
At some point, “wait and see” stops being analysis and becomes a belief system.
If the people making these promises are right, the results should eventually be measurable. Lower costs, better employment opportunities, stronger wages, and an improving standard of living. And if those things aren't happening, we're allowed to ask why without being told that questioning the strategy means we don't understand the strategy.
You don't have to abandon hope. You also don't have to outsource your judgment to someone else's promises.
Ask yourself this. If a political strategy requires you to reinterpret every bad result as evidence the strategy is secretly working, what possible outcome could ever prove it wrong?
We were told that prices would come down, more jobs would be created, and our country would be in golden age. I still hope our POTUS has the best interest for all of us and this pain is short term and is part of the 4D chess he is playing.
When do you think this layoff will happen? Cause the PSL mergers have happened. When will Shannon take office? It’s exhausting I can’t live in this fear all the time
Management has compiled the chopping list. Buckle up y’all, it’s going to be a roller coaster ride for the next couple of months.
How long should we wait for America to be great again?
If you work at HAL, you are either (1) the one who is about to be blindsided by the next, imminent layoff, or (2) the one who will survive the next, imminent layof and quietly reassure yourself that you're special. Eventually, you do get past that illusion and false sense of security, and realize it's only a matter of time. By that point you're captive to the machine and mentally spent. You no longer have the clear state of mind or mental time and energy required to proactively find the greener pastures. For most HAL employees, it takes being shelled before you can actually break free mentally and go through the necessary detox to realize how much nicer life really is on the outside.
