Is it standard and final?

WF would be smart to negotiate and get that waiver signed. Paying more to get that is less expensive than any legal repercussions. Although I don't think WF cares. They make so much money that any legal issues are a drop in the bucket for them.
I've not heard of anyone negotiating their package.
@af so even after a severance is paid out, what's to stop anyone from sharing thoughts and experiences?
With other parties that may be interested in hearing or seeing it?
I realize accepting a severance forfeited a right to sue and not receive any monies but there may be somethings that someone needs to know about.
One could say someone still may be bitter about how things turned out.
There is no negotiation of packages and soon enough the packages and benefits will go away. They will move the pay schedule to 1st and 15th and change the severance to lump sum. Triple taxes and no benefits. In the wind.
You can if you are in some special kind of situations.
That's why lawyers provide a service called severance package review
The only people who get to negotiate are senior level folks who have deferred compensation and stock options. Everyone else gets the basic offer.
Take it or leave it as-is. Better than being terminated and kicked to the curb or resigning.
The time to negotiate your severance package is when you accept the job or a new position... not when you are being severed. It took me 2 layoffs before I learned this.
The negotiation is binary- you can sign it or not. Agree to waive your right to sue or get nothing. There's no requirement/law that WF has to give you anything (beyond WARN as applicable). And they aren't negotiating custom packages. So, make your choice.
