Cognizant pays even less. I saw a job post from them. They were looking for a senior software engineer with a salary range of 110k-130k. The median salary for a senior software engineer is about 150k, depending on the area. It's at least 180k in CA, 200k in SF. You need a combined income of 400k to buy a shed in SF.
