Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I'd welcome being cut

Centene has changed so drastically from the company I originally joined that I have no issues with leaving it behind. And I used to love my job. Sad what this leadership has turned it into.

@dy In my department we didn’t have a vacation bank but we were allowed to roll a certain amount of vacation time over to the new year. Our bonuses were cut a few years ago. Yet they wonder why morale is low.

Yep, Centene was amazing. Heavy focus on WAS. We used to get a vacation bank on 1/1 every year, which was super helpful if you had beginning/early year travel plans. Now, you may have to go into the negative if you want to travel in the first quarter of the year. Also, the accrual method ensures you will leave a fraction of time untaken, so that goes right back to the company. We used to have fun incentives offered by corporate. All of that went away when SL took over. I took the VSP and honestly, can’t wait until it’s my last day. In fact, I hope the move the date up. My department is ridiculously slow and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Yet, I’m being held captive until December. Make it make sense.

I’m in a state where signing the VSP is a forfeiture of unemployment. It’s just not feasible for me in this economy with such short notice of separation. I used to love my job and actually looked forward to coming to work prior to being bought out by Centene. Now I hate my job and cry almost everyday before my shift. I’m praying that what people on here are saying about ISP’s occurring every wave is true and I can be let go in the December wave.

VSP was done so incorrectly and haphazardly. I opted in and it was accepted, however, the end date given to me put me in career purgatory for 16 months! I ended up giving my notice because that was so unethical. They got what they wanted by not paying my severance but I don’t care. I have never felt better after making such a hard decision.

I feel the same way. I highly regret not taking VSP. I didn’t think things would end up being so toxic after the VSP but everything has changed. It takes 10x longer to get anything done because every dept is short staffed. Morale is super low everywhere. Any meeting I join now from groups across the system everyone is on edge and rude to one another. I have been applying to other places just hope I land a job soon. Until then I am just keeping to myself.

A lesson can be learned from this. What has really changed between the current leadership and the leadership back when you enjoyed your job? Nothing except the corporate mission and values fairytale that you bought into. Never forget, you are in an industry built to maximize premium revenue while minimizing the amount of money paid for government funded health care.

There were quite a few teams at Corporate that were not even given the option to apply because their leadership did allow HR to put them on the list. It was said the reason was because the teams were needed due to the amount of government audits and the upcoming CMS submission. I think they were afraid that everyone would apply!!! There are hundreds of people on these teams, and I am sure 60% of them would have applied.

Agree! I took VSP but got an end date into next year. So I took the other job I found when I thought my end date was going to be sept. 4, and I'm leaving anyway. I'm done with the toxic environment. I too used to live my job, for almost 10 years!
