Topics regarding layoffs at Truist Bank

Reputation of Mediocrity

Truist has the reputation of having “mediocre employees”. Most employees are not career driven and stay in their same positions for 5-15 years and are ok with the meager 1-2% merit increase every year. Kind of sad. Other companies I’ve worked at... — read more

Culture -- An example of what's lacking?

"Andy's such a special person," Hunt said. "Obviously, he's an incredible coach, but I think the thing that people don't really know about Andy is the relationships he has with all of his players [and] all of his coaching staff. If you talk to any of... — read more

Bill is Dan Snyder

Leadership is key within any organization whether it is a professional football team or the largest bank. The culture and accountability is set by leaders. Focus on culture and results happen, focus on results and culture suffers and hence bad or... — read more

Retired and happy, but not with Truist!

As a former employee and happily retired, I must say IMO the bank has certainly gone downhill. The Help Desk and HR is beyond unfriendly and useless. I left BofA years ago and their HR team is delightful...what happened Truist? I can't recommend... — read more

Chief Technology Risk Officer Is Gone

Dallas the Chief Technology Risk Officer has been shown the door. He lasted 18 months at Suntruist. Terrible hire by Clarke. Zero leadership. Zero vision. 100% bad behavior. Hope he takes most of the people he brought in with him. Was he part... — read more

DEI Rationalization Effort

I feel compelled to share there is a “DEI Rationalization Effort” underway to assess pros/cons of nixing DEI to align with new federal guidelines. The project and details are shared on a business “need to know” basis. DEI won’t be around that much... — read more

Sourcing

What is going on with these people? Everything takes forever, they all seem to be especially miserable and the steps to get anything done are horrendous. Who came up with this process and why is change impossible??

I made a mistake by staying

When health starts to go downhill, it’s already too late. I should’ve started looking for something else long before stress took its toll on me. This place always wants more, pushing everyone to the limit. It’d be eye-opening to see how many have... — read more

Who was happy Senior Audit Managers and above were sent to Charlotte this week and were in conferences all day?!?! Finally could get some work done. I hope they had fun at top golf last night.

2025 Branch Banking Incentive Plan

Just found out on a conference call yesterday. Instead of your branch having to meet goal to get a quarterly bonus now your region has to meet goal. Which Truist knows will never happen. So now we will be lucky to get a raise or incentive.

Resignation timing to get bonus?

If AIP discussions are scheduled by March 3, and payout is around March 10th, what day should a 2-week resignation letter be submitted in order to get the full bonus check without penalty?

RTO

The RTO that is ridiculous. Unless you are client facing, how productive is sitting in your car for hours a day. We merged 2 banks from our homes. That said. EL will just say find another job, because they would rather bear the cost of training a... — read more

Glassdoor Ratings

Why is it Truist has lower ratings on Glassdoor relative to other banks? Is the employee experience that much worse? Curious what others have to say.

CTO Outsourcing

Any truth to the rumors of Accenture taking over more groups in CTO?

A change in leadership has no bearing on us

Whatever happens in the future, we are still going to be exposed to bad management, overworked, and treated like numbers. There will be layoffs and reorgs. There will be different attrition tactics. Cost-cutting, inflating stock prices, and... — read more

Beau departure - Sale of Truist

Beau’s departure is the first step in selling Truist later this year. Bill will announce his retirement by June. Inevitably Truist will be sold by end of year. The sale of TIH along with resignations of C Suite and Board members are all major red... — read more

Beau leaving

What does this mean for Truist? Is more layoffs in the near future a rumor?

Audit Favorites

Audit is only hiring their favorites from their past organization and no one else has a chance. Rules are bent to get them in. I cannot believe how blatant it is. Do not waste your time applying, they already know who they are hiring.

ATL WCD moving to the Battery

Thoughts on the movement of CIB, CRE, and structured credit teams moving from downtown ATL to the battery? Seems like it punishes those who chose to live close to the existing office. The battery isn’t even inside the perimeter.

RTO = Soft Layoff

There is no evidence that RTO improves metrics or the culture. All the empirical studies show the opposite.

Pension

Many teammates received an email announcing we would be pension eligible starting Jan 1, 2025. This probably means pension will not be eliminated if they are expanding this benefit to new teammates.

A flawed approach

Promoting good employees is obviously cheaper and more effective than constantly replacing them with new hires - a five-year-old could figure that out. On top of that, promoting su-k-ups who can’t do their jobs is a total waste of resources. Yet... — read more
