Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

I wish people would stop saying they wish they were laid off

I nearly blew up at a coworker yesterday over this. If you want to leave so badly, then quit. Don't tell me and other people you wish you were laid off after we've watched so many excellent workers lose their jobs and seen how devastated they were over it this week. Read the room, people.

@2wv wait they are making everyone RTO 5 days a week? Was this announced or just speculation?

@ee Ryan can't cope with working from home, just like when he presented during the COV19 times from his ski lodge, where his poor kids had to put up with just playing on snowmobiles instead of being at school. Read the room Ryan, life has moved on, 5 days a week is soooo pre-COV19, catch up with our competitors in offering flexibility. Free snacks and video games in the office may appease all the juniors you're keeping on but that only goes so far before they see behind the veil.

I was laid off from Visa in Feb have gotten a lot of interviews but the market is tough. The struggle is real and I also think it's insensitive to wish for being in the position of wondering daily if you will lose you house. Have a heart, ge-z people.

@ee Not True! An executive from a prestigious corporation was let go after 30+ plus. An EVP who has been w/company for 25+ years took over. In his first 30 days he emphasized about attendance into the office 5 days a week for more 'collaboration' 'visibility' etc.

@c5 it’s not HR making return to office decisions. It’s the top of the top who were hired to be in office and have such an ego that they believe if they have to be in office than everyone does. HR might enforce but I don’t know a single PBP that actually believes most jobs can’t be done remote

@OP HR instructs managers to make your life as Miserable as possible (Mandatory in office attendance, checking id badge report for attendance record, provide daily task reports) = You will resign automatically and SAVE company money as simple as that

@OP

Try to use that lump between your shoulders for something besides a hat rack.

Maybe you'll come to realize the differences between a layoff and a voluntary resignation.

Perhaps, with enough effort, even you will see why one is favored over the other.
