Any info on voluntary severance packages for employees over 50?

@k87 They will probably not have another VSP as the number of people that opted to take it was much greater than they had anticipated. Many people that opted to take it were people they would have liked to keep, but the offer was made to all who qualified. There were a couple of people that opted not to take the VSP and applied for other jobs that were from the old leadership in IT. One that I know took another job, was eventually let go from the new role.
The number of weeks of severance they paid out was very costly at levels where people were getting 40 and 52 weeks severance. Some individuals on this site stated that lump sum payouts weren’t received but they were paid every 2 weeks on the payroll from the cut last year in September 2025.
I did not qualify for a package in 2016, but would qualify for one now. I would take it in a heartbeat if it were offered now. Based on my age and skills, HCSC is not in my long-term plan anyway. Yes, a severance package would be nice but not counting on it.
I’d love nothing more than getting a severance package and collecting unemployment too, but I still prefer to be in control of my own timeline. Heard rumors about September but they’re only rumors. It’s usually done as a total surprise when it’s unexpected.
@OP
I wish I could just do this. I want to quit anyways due to burnout. If I could get a couple months worth of severance and collect unemployment I’d sign one in a heartbeat
Damn, this would be a great option! MLK - "Free at last!"
After the last VSP in 2016, doubt they will offer it again. If you really want to know, send an email to Maurice or Manika
I don’t understand why everyone seems to think a VSP is an option if you are over 50. Or expect severance if you choose to quit because you are wfh. Lol
Any chance this will be offered in lieu of going fully WFH?
@n1 you can put in a request for an approved leave of absence through your department leadership. Is called a PLOA - personal leave of absence and is unpaid. The request has to be made in writing.
@n1 Nope, they will not approve it. If they did, everyone would be volunteering.
Please take care of your health. A sabbatical has some benefits vs losing your job.
Call it VSP. Call it severance. Generally people get something extra when they quit or are laid off. Even when fired for cause.
Do u think if I request it they will approve??? I need leave sebatical leave. Need a break from corporate America
There are no VSPs. The company took too much a financial hit in 2016 with them, and they have no incentive to utilize them today.
HCSC does not share or has VSP policies for any age group. When its offered, is when employees learn about it. Any info you get here on this site is wrong.
