We desperately need more people instead of fewer. Do they not realize that there's only so much each of us still here can take?

I quit a month ago and took a job with a different telco for a raise, less bullsh-t, less micromanaging, and a whole lot more culture. Jobs are out there go get one. I was with Verizon for 15 years.
Get back to work!
at least you still have a job, quit whining about it
It’s called a silent layoff
@bk interesting world view......m kay
@b9 you're invited to find another job elsewhere and let us know if you need a Fund Me To Go page
They don’t care if what you’re working on gets built or not. If they actually cared they would fund it, organize it, and give it time to be built properly. Ask yourself if your project will meaningfully increase Verizon’s revenue or cut costs. Recall that Verizon brings in over 100B a year and of that profit is between 10-20B a year. So will your project increase that number by 10%? Will it decrease expenses by 10%? Meaning will your project bring in 10,000,000,000 or save 10,000,000,000? If the answer is no, then Verizon the corporate entity, and as such its board and its C-Suite do not care about your project, it’s completely irrelevant to them. Maybe I’m being a little too aggressive in this. Does your project save or make the company 500,000,000? 1,000,000,000? They might care then. If it doesn’t? They definitely do not care. So if your project won’t achieve that level of results. Then ask yourself why are you allowing others to control you to the point that you are burning out? Why are you allowing that? If you work 40 hours a week and log off will you be fired? Likely not. So if what you’re working on does not have this level of impact, Verizon doesn’t care about it. They don’t care if your work 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 hours on it. So why do you care?
@bk you need to come to the realization that there is no longer any "backfilling" of positions. They are either phased out, handed to vendors or taken over by AI. The domestic U.S. workforce will mostly be eliminated.
Worker 1 to worker 2: I don't know how much longer I can take this
Worker 2 to worker 1: I don't know how much longer you can take this either
Tone deaf management will come up with all kinds of excuses to not back fill positions. They want us to suffer until we drop dead, while they continue to reward themselves with bigger & bigger bonuses while they spend their entire days on circlej--king one another with congratulatory emails.
Things are great in value!!! We had another prom, went to Vegas, and will continue to post about how life has never been better thanks to Verizon!
Management has no humanity, no empathy, no compassion. They're vampires who get big fat bonuses off the backs of the blood, sweat & tears of the worker bees.
@OP Why burn yourself out? Sooner or later your number will be up. Wireless is being gutted to the core.
@a1 For years the reply was to enro you in "time management" training, now it's "AI". Same C-level BS, new name.
back to work Hans needs a new Ferrari - is a sick statement
Make the claim all you want. Show the numbers. Show factual proof that you need more resources. If you're in GTS - what can we off-shore (i.e. the American last priority) or give it to the vendors (which are all still off-shore). If you are in any other group, use AI, use AI, use AI.
Bottom line, new resources that you need, that you want will not come.
More people = more expense = less for senior "leadership". We can't have that now, under any circumstances.
i haven’t cried like this since college.
You cannot talk about headcount at work. They just dismiss you, call you a complainer, and say that you can’t handle change. “You just need to be more comfortable in the uncomfortable“ . Su-k it up. Find your own ways to use AI to help yourself do the work of 3 people.
