Considering an offer for a sales job selling firstnet, fiber and other services to government accounts for those of you that have been with AT&T for more than 5 years what type of job do you have and do you see a career path for advancement?

Job and career is not the same
Look elsewhere. Not recommended. Targets are set at unrealistic numbers. Very small percentage of sales reps make the full at risk amount. Been here a long time. Just staying because I am maxing out the pension
Because you have no job skills to look elsewhere.
If you have -any- other option, go for that & avoid this place. Sales jobs are the only ones that keep showing up on the job boards because of unrealistic expectations & getting rid of folks because they didn’t meet them. If you must take this job, know that you were warned & live on 1/2 your salary-commissions so that you have a cushion for when (not if) you’re fired or surplussed.
I love it here and have good advancement opportunities. Why else would I stay?
Run from AT&T. RUN.
24 year employee
If you can sell, there are much places to work. The amount of money you could make elsewhere should be the decision maker.
If this the only offer you have, take it. Once you have experince look for a new gig.
Boot li---r levels 1 through 5. A-s wipe and ankle grabbers levels 6 through 9 and then you replace the Stink.

If you aren’t already in a position making $150k-$200k a year it isn’t gonna happen here.
Maybe, but if you’re already clearing $200k+ working virtual in a LCOL area, what’s the point of relocating?
You’re not guaranteed a progression, hardly anyone is getting progressed right now.
The measly $10-$20k more they give you for region change isn’t going to make up for losing the 3% interest rate on your home or cover the difference in housing cost.
They aren’t paying enough to motivate relocation….it’s a scam with no benefit for the worker and all benefit for the company.
Yeah, nah…I’m virtual and have no intention of ever moving for this joke of a company.
@ac You're right. I don't care. Salespeople ruin everything.
@OP This is a tough time to think about longevity with any company. Businesses today don't hire employees for long term careers, so that means workers need to think about accepting jobs when it is beneficial to them for their next position as well as the monetary aspect. Don't ever take a job thinking you'll be at that company for 5+ years. That's just how it is.
@a8 Your response suggests you know zero about selling and the various types of sales roles.
You don’t mention where you’re located but here’s the answer. If you’re not in Dallas or Atlanta there is no career growth.
Think about this. You are being hired to sell a product that we built specifically for government responders and other emergencies. So, like, we have to sell the product to the people who asked for the product? Weird.
There is no advancement outside of Dallas. Honestly this is no longer a good place to work. I’d look elsewhere. Do you really want to be in a sales job that requires you to move to Dallas and RTO 5x with tracking to make sure you’re meeting the 8 hour requirement each day?
