Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Safe for now...

I was told the ISP is done for my department so I'm safe. But makes me wonder for how long. I just started at Centene in April after being laid off from another company. I'm so burnt out. I'm acting happy and taking on extra work but my morale is gone. I don't know how much I can handle the lack of ceos caring about their employees.

OP here: I'm under the BTS umbrella. I'm only taking extra work for the experience. I've learned to never ki-l myself for a job again. I just hate this unknown. I agree the current administration isn't helping anything.

@aq bright side, you get vsp and can continue to make money for another year. You have the ability to really plan things out financially for yourself. Sad the people who didn’t take vsp got laid off, didn’t get the vsp package and still have to leave.

@OP was told my team was safe as well. We do have team members taking the vsp though. We Weill be good from now until end of 2027. They have already budgeted for those not laid off. After that I’m sure it will start again unless we get a competent president who’s not trying to take peoples healthcare away or make it more expensive.

@OP Repeat after me:

  • No CEO cares.
  • Do the bare minimum to not get fired and nothing more.
  • It is just a job. There are others like it.

Once you teach yourself those facts and engrain the behaviors within yourself, you can get on with your life and move forward with contentment. Don't deplete yourself on the job. Leave enough gas in the tank to give energy to your hobbies and family outside of work.

What state are you with? If you don’t want to say, will you provide your VP?

I didn’t believe a thing they said in the PHCO town hall today about layoffs and VSP, the way they’ve dropped the ball on all of this doesn’t give me much hope in them telling us the truth. I do believe they want to automate everything they can though.. I just have to hang in there until May 2027!

@OP and this is a major thing that keeps me here. No company is safe from layoffs. If I took the VSP anywhere I went I would be starting over and would not have years built-in to have a decent severance.

@a7 The PHCO TH touched a little bit on the VSP. They got enough volunteers for it that no layoffs for now. However it was stressed subject to change. Talked about automation and would backfill jobs with temps and offshore vendors.

@a7 Hii! Just butting in here to say the PHCO UM Town Hall that occurred today, mentioned if “extra staff” is needed during our transition to more automation, they will be looking into temps to fill as opposed to hiring employees. Looks like enough of our colleague family is receiving VSP, and business needs will be met with the folks that are staying. Lord help me if I took this info. the wrong way, but wanted to pass on! So sorry @OP if this doesn’t pertain to your original post! Sending lots of strength to each and everyone of my colleagues at Centene 🩶

Ive asked the same question: will layoffs occur again? Centene track record says every 2-3 years layoffs occur

Was this the PHCO town hall today, by chance? I missed some of it, but was just wondering about that. Glad you're safe also! ❤️🙏🏻

Yeah no CEO cares about their employees. Just do your job description and don't do anything extra unless you getting overtime pay.
