Applying for new job postings after getting the RIF

Does anyone know if you apply for an internal position and you have all qualifications to land at least an interview. Would they consider keeping you and doing a transfer or they just want you out for good?

@ns they actually kept me at my current salary, but advised that with the structure changes to occur it would be re evaluated probably around the time of end of the year evals and when my training is complete then there should be an increase in pay. So I assume it really depends on what role you would transition into. If you go for it, I wish you all the best! 🫶🏻🙏🏻

@bc In your situation was compensation comparable to what your were making? In other words, if my current salary falls within the range, do I start with what I currently make? Or is my pay reduced to start at the beginning of the salary range for the new position? I, too, am trying to determine if applying for internal jobs is worth it before 9/4...

@b0 I'm applying for internal positions. Has your experience been that recruiting is more motivated to hold on to employees that have been RIF'd? I just want to know how much energy to spend applying internally vs externally. I do like working at Centene more or less, so I hope to be able to stay.

You can apply. If you get the Job and transfer happens before your RIF date then you just continue. If it happens after your termination date, you will start again and you will have to return portion of your severance package.

I applied for an internal position 7/27, interviewed 7/31, accepted position 8/3 and I figured if I was in a "transition" to a new position it may eliminate my possibly of a RIF. It's hard to say if I'm "safe" or not as just so unsure the direction this company is going but here's to hoping. Good luck to you as well 🙏🏻❤️
