What does that look like? Can you volunteer to be on it? Can you get unemployment afterwards?

@cc calm down, it is true.
My understanding is in the “new” system of PIP’s, you are given the choice of going through the PIP Process or taking 3 Mos Severance and leaving the company.
It’s 90 days and being terminated doesn’t automatically mean no unemployment if you tried to meet it in “good faith”. So don’t go and take your sick days for 90 days, pretend to put in some effort and good riddance to you.
This seems like a bad idea. In my old data science team, somebody got PIP’d out before the thing was finished. The HRBP and COE manager didn’t even allow the PIP to complete. First or second mistake during the PIP - the guy was gone
Nada on the severance. Coasting for 90 days is your choice not to stay.
As for unemployment, depends on the state. I once fired an employee for stealing a company pickup truck for the weekend (they were a clerk with no reason to drive a company vehicle) and they won an appeal for compensation in California. In Texas, not as likely if you’re let go for cause.
I could be wrong, but I think the op was considering the 90 day window as their “severance”. Sounds like they want to be on a PIP, basically not come into work and not do anything for 90 days with the hopes of being terminated.
If your path is PIP, you get option of 90 days or you wait out your PIP and pass it and stay...or fail it and go with ZERO days severance
I heard they are forcing reductions from every function ? How do you expect they will do that if we don’t assume people on PIPs will get kicked out?? My supervisor told us they will be forcing reductions in that manner. I was told people in Exxon just stop working I heard because they see the writing on the wall, coast along and wait to be terminated. Basically that is what they are considering thieir severance.
@bs bingo. Collect that 90 days while looking for another job
Oh my gosh….misinformation is in overdrive!!!! No such thing as PIP severance. If you fail on your PIP and are terminated as a result for performance, NO SEVERANCE! Stop making up stuff!!!!!! Ask HR, they should tell you the same thing. Work your butt off to get through the PIP if you have any desire to stay with the company.
90 days if on your PIP start date you decide you don’t care anymore.
No and No, you don't work here, obviously.
Are you referring to a performance improvement plan? If so, how would one qualify for severance?
Curious as well. Is it 3 months or 6 months of severance given?
