What have you guys released in the past year? Not trolling, just wanted to get the list of new major releases.
No need to respond if only maintenance releases or new hardware configurations. Looking for new major releases.

@br PowerFlex EC is nothing ground breaking...Powerflex is so fu---d right now they are redesigning it and moving away from the 120 pod kubernetes sh-tshow that is the current platform. For such a simple solution, how they got here in the first place is mind boggling. Lets make this more complex than it needs to be just so we can pag ourselves on the back.... They should all be fired....
Is VxRail still on the scene?
@tt PPDM doesn't have anywhere near 1400 customers actively using that piece of shiiit. That is just the number of unique emails (many from the same company) who downloaded it and tried to install it in a lab somewhere, only to hit delete on the VM after they couldn't get it to work.
And because PPDM doesn't have best-practice product usage metric technology built in like a real product, Dell has no idea what parts of the product people are even using, if any.
Dell doesn't do enterprise Product Management. Not in People and certainly not in Product! 8-9 years of development and it's still a piece of shiiit. People get kicked out of an IT dept for even bringing it up.
@t1 ppdm not even 1400 customers since 2019. And that's all mtree s on all dd that I can see. Pretty pathetic many of these were please try it out or pilot it. Not many have it in production. You risk your job is you trust it. High likelihood it ends up in the scrap pile or they sell it off to HCL were it will be over
@t1 How well does it work with Cyber Recovery these days. Most people couldn't configure their replication properly with all their nasty configurations.
@sb
I’ve not heard of it happen.
But all backup companies get stuff wrong. PPDM over the past few years has got very strong and the so called gap for enterprise has gone. The product is solid now. Remember the foundation is Boost. And commvault has embraced Boost with DD too because there is nothing better. Have you looked at what 20.22 can do? 20.23 is round the corner and will be even better.
@s6 How's that world of Denial working out for you? Have you ever been kicked out of a company over PPDM? Try it sometime. It might help break you of your delusions.
Dell doesn’t give free HW. Hardware is expensive. You would know that if u actually worked for Dell. PPDM is doing fine. It’s way better than old crumbling Commvault and useless Rubrik with all its pointless gimmicks.
Fact. This is True. You are False.
@pj False. People are buying cheap hardware, which comes with free PPDM to incentive the hardware sale. Some try to install it but most can't ever get it to work. Others will throw you out if you even bring it up again. It's a disaster.
People are buying it. Just cause you choose to leave or were laid off , now ur bashing it.
I sell it all the time. Customers are taking notice. It’s way better the. CommBroke and Rubricked
@m6 Because Pisss Poor Data Manager (PPDM) is a piece of shiit. It's literally 7-10 years behind Cohesity, Rubrik, Commvault, Veeam, Veritas. It's always full of bugs when it releases and features that do release are always only partially finished. Plus it doesn't work with anything except DD.
No wonder customers still prefer a product that is over 10-15 years old from EMC (who knew what they were doing back then) whose code hasnt been touched in a decade. That's just a fact. PPDM is dead.
@kj powerprotect one is a rebrand of the ppdm based appliance and they let you carve an mtree for other bu applications. Whoopee
So??? Why is no one still buying then??
Customers still prefer NW or move to non dell solution.
Adding a feature is not enough.
@jp+1kzh749n
You don’t work for Dell, stop pretending you do.
PPDM has added Nutanix AHV support, anomaly detection and lots of other really good enhancements and new features.
Powerprotect One takes the story even further.
So many new cool additions.
Only thing thats released are RSU and promotions at rhe DE level..
@OP In PPDM, from more than a year now we are only delivering bug and escalation fix and security updates. Apart, from this I don't remember any new feature is delivered in PPDM. Not sure, how PPDM will survive. Also, it seems there is no any long term growth or future of PPDM.
@g4 my team has been delivering a new product for years. I can't say what it is without doxxing myself though because of how small the team is.
@fc That's the same excuse sales has heard for 5-8 years now.
I am I8 remote from ISG and fired recently, but .... i was forced to worki with Harness since few months and belive me it will be a beautifull disaster.
It's tough to release anything when they keep laying off all our engineers. I have triple the workload I had a year ago and that's just to tread water.
@db Yes. Play Dirty and Lose
I've survived many WFR at Dell and lived to tell about it!
@br i would not count pflex EC as something to brag about or use a "released" term without funny feeling..
You writing a book.
What have you achieved in the last year?
AMD Turin-based PowerEdge systems
Liquid & air cooled NVIDIA Grace systems
PowerScale releases
PowerFlex EC
…
PowerMax still gets a couple of releases a year, with actual features and not just bug fixes.
Not great, not terrible.....
