@a3 that doesn’t sound right. I suggest asking hr how they got that number. The severence page spells it out quite clearly. The only thing I can think of is - was there a gap in your employment with them?

I also believe the person didn't have 16 consecutive years, but only they can confirm. PTO is based on total years served, but severance is by last hire date.
@a3 Interesting. Benefits published on SPARK and what was given to one of the people cut today state 16 year employees from grades 20-26 get 16 WEEKS or 8 pay periods and grades 17-28 get 18 weeks (9 paychecks).
@a9 right, they go by rehire date. That happened to me
@a3 I bet that person had been laid off previously, received a severance, and then rehired. They would still have the 16 year tenure but not when it comes to severance.
@a3 i got 6 weeks as a GL27. 1 month short of 5 years employment
There's a policy on spare that should tell you
@a3 Bullsh-t
It depends on pay grade and years of service so hard to say without knowing what to compare to.
A 16 yr employee got 5 weeks
