New Workstation Wallpaper Dropped

...I woke-up this morning & logged-in without coffee yet, dutiful as ever, only to be blasted half awoken by the new wallpaper shooting bright white laserbeams directly into my face.

You can't hate what this place has become enough. Just so fücking stupid & pointless to have no agency in even setting a desktop background. It's still burning into my face as I gripe.

Message/orders understood - I'll only ever work when it's light outside, fücking id--ts.

@cf this is one of my favorite examples of Gunjan having no idea what's actually happening

One additional point of irony here. Oshkosh has their own little SharePoint site where there's an FAQ related to the transition to hotel seating, etc. It's still active; I accidentally clicked the link for it in my Bookmarks this past week. One of the points in there where they addressed leaving family photos, etc, on desks is that you have the ability to set a family photo as your wallpaper. Time to take that one down I guess...

Great... something new to dread.

I used to work tech support for a Pharma back in the days of Windows 2000, and they did something similar. First thing I did every morning was run a script to revert to my nice calming wallpaper of an evening launch of Apollo 17. Of course, modern day workstation configuration controls make this garbage much harder to defeat. :(

MC are clueless, spending time on wallpaper and still refuse to let us use our own

Clueless that they thought it was physical wallpaper. Clueless people running this bank

Remember after they did the first one, someone brought it up during a Q&A, and Gunjan thought the question was about literal, physical wallpaper being hung in the hubs?

The laugh this gave me was VERY MUCH NEEDED, especially after this week. Thank you.

@bp wait, really??

I actually submitted a politely worded “workplace excellence” request to AT LEAST offer a dark mode version of the company mandated wallpapers so employees can maintain their dark mode workstations for eye ease.

And if you want to change the wallpaper you need an ADA ACCOMMODATION..... FOR A WALLPAPER.

@be This poster gets it. It is "leadership" trying to out do each other with useless and busy work. If updating a fu--ing wallpaper that no one asked for becomes a line item in an outcomes list then our standards have fallen so far they are irrepairable.

This is a fantastic example of bank operations at the moment. Classic "outsourcing" operating model where everything runs 5-10X over budget and ~3 years longer than expected, but if you ki-l the failed project you have to write off the loss on the cash flow statements so "there are zero failures."

Inevitably, you blow out the budget so badly you can't hide it from investors, so the optimal strategy becomes "make as many incremental, trivial changes as possible" so the status updates are flooded with high volume unimpactful line items (management competing with one another on "juggling more ba--s than the other managers").

New computer background just being another useless line item.

Forget about your families or anything you love when at U.S. Bank!

It is actually bad practice for.laptops. It advertises where you work and just screams out to be hacked.

I hate being forced into a wallpaper, but can they at least make a dark version to match my dark mode?
