Knowing I'm at risk of being laid off at any time not due to performance but solely because of my location has been very demoralizing for me personally.

If I’m on loa right now, how do I get notified of a layoff? Do they just wait until I’m back, call, email? surgery and just want to know if I should be worried about getting any notifications from management?

I know Iive in a high cost of living area like new York and as a result I get much less of a merit % increase so those lesser paid folks in places like Des Moines can get more money even though they have better cash flow than I do.
