@ak The only employees that are getting 2 weeks off for every year are the ones that took VSP. If you did not take it or weren't eligible and you are part of the ISP they do not have to give you anything.

@an exactly, How can anyone not understand that the ISP package has nothing to do with the VSP package. With ISP they don't have to give you anything.

@a5 I didn't want out. But Centene made it VERY clear that there WOULD be layoffs after the VSP round. So I made the decision that I would take the "extra" benefits offered with the VSP & not be a sitting duck. The writing was on the wall!! Of course they weren't going to offer the same benefits to those who took the gamble & declined VSP.

@aq wondering if weeks per year varies depending on where you work because I heard one week per year.

“2 weeks per every year worked”, is there a max on the number of years?

Well duh d-mb d-mb. Why would anyone take a vsp if they could just wait to be laid off at the same amount?

I feel my “invite” is coming tomorrow, not VSP eligible. Glad to hear there is SOMETHING they’re offering. Wondering how/why some are let go immediately versus 9/4. I’d much rather be let go immediately. The stress of this being almost two month already is insane. We all should be given mental health for a good amount of time following this debacle. What a mind fu-k. I wish the best for everyone working at Centene. Su-ks all the way around.

@ab I'm not saying it's a great situation, but at least they gave 2 weeks for every year worked. Technically it is not required or mandatory. You should also file for unemployment...

End up costing you $$$ to do this and the result would be the same. Zero. Then what severance you have will take another hit.

@ad I hope people are brave enough to speak with you regarding this situation with Centene. After almost 13 years with this company the lack of transparency that has occurred with this entire situation is sad. The undue stress due to the unknown is unnecessary for a company this size. Even after them offering the VSP they have started involuntarily layoffs without regard to the hard working employees who need to feed their families.

Well depending on the state that you are in, taking the VSP would've disqualified you for unemployment. Even though this is less, you can still combine it with unemployment for a while. All these people saying that is why I took the vsp are not taking that into consideration. Also everyone's offer was different. I know people whose offer would give them a year without working while others not even close. It depended on years worked and salary.

@a9 as someone who did not get offered the VSP, I received more than 2 weeks per year. Not VSP level nice though.

@a9 yes however they did not give the enhance benefit and also it states I get a bonus but that’s not written clearly

This is already a well known fact that VSP was going to be more. It was mentioned already AND it was sent in emails. A lawyer will do nothing. You chose to not take the VSP and risk it knowing there would be additional layoffs. It’s very unfortunate but nothing you can do

@OP historically it was 2 weeks for every full year worked. The VSP was an additional BONUS weeks. Did they at least give you the 2 weeks for every year?

@OP I assumed it would be but you would be able to collect unemployment if you are unable to find employment.

You opted not to take the VSP and got layed off? So sorry to hear that. i do remember hearing the severence for round two would be less. not sure a lawyer can help you , as they dont have to pay you anything. that is why i took the VSP.

so reward the ones who want out, and penalize those who are dedicated and committed in their job? makes zero sense to me

@OP I don’t think you would have a case unless you applied for VSP and they denied you. Then laid you off. They made it very clear the VSP would include more benefits and severance.

The VSP was the "enhanced" package to make it tempting to take it. Unfortunately if you didn't qualify for the VSP or wanted to stay and are getting RIF'd, the ISP was always going to be less.
