Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

How much is your formal notice before termination date and are they deducting that notice from your lump sum severance ?

If you got 8 weeks notice was your severance package 18 months less 8 weeks?

Is anyone getting longer formal notice? Did anyone get like 6 months formal notice so that severance was significantly reduced ? (18 months, less 6 months ?)

The length of working notice is not affecting the lump sum severance. Severance amounts are coming out slightly ahead of the estimates from the fall in either case. With that said, the longer working notice means the "delta" between the offer and the statutory amount you could get in court (one month per year of total comp, not just base) shrinks meaningfully. So much less room to negotiate. Its in IOL's interest to give you more working notice for this very reason. But from the employee perspective, good to have line of sight to an actual end date so plans can be made.
