It's too much
I have three roles shoved onto my plate and at this point I'm just trying to keep the lights on. Some weeks I survive on coffee and sheer stubbornness, but to say it's burning me out would be an understatement. The whole arrangement feels temporary and unfair to anyone with a life outside work.
McKinsey EBU
I heard that McKinsey will be moving on from PSBU and going to EBU. Have fun with that. If you dont know who they are I would check out John Oliver's last week tonight deep dive on them. With the slow downs in EBU (shifts being cut, layoffs, reduced work weeks) and now McKinsey, I would watch out there.

No quick way back for Intel
https://www.fudzilla.com/news/61826-no-quick-way-back-for-intel
"The wider message from Haas was clear: once you’re late in the semiconductor business, there’s no catching up. Intel’s challenge is not just technological but cultural. Haas noted that manufacturing in the West is often seen as blue-collar, low-status work, in Taiwan, a job at TSMC is viewed as prestigious and well-paid."

Hypocrisy Anyone?
Here’s your investor relations meeting:.
Q: Does Intel use its own manufacturing?
A; Nope we cant rely on it but It’ll be ready in a few years.
Thank you for the lunch. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.
Show me the Chips
Intel had better produce something from an Intel fab at volume soon or Intel and the US Government are going to be sued for the mother of all investment scams.
What questions do you have for SETH?
Brave of them to take questions after the chaos of the selections. I’m sure they will filter the questions and provide their own questions to control the narrative.
Intel spikes on reports of potential AMD manufacturing deal
If anything, this makes some reasonable sense. Since IFS has experience making x86, which a large % of equipment is optimized for... so that's would make any transition 100x easier vs a non x86 design. AMD get's access to a US supplier to appease the Administration, and get a 2nd source instead of TSMC, which would give them both some diversification, and more importantly, some possible pricing relief. The biggest hurdle is AMD willing to send money to their biggest PC and Server competitor... or are the benefits offset that risk. Given IFS isn't going to be profitable with or without AMD... there's actually a reasonable chance AMD would sign on to IFS (prob with some old legacy designs just in case IFS sc--ws the pooch... like they have the last 15 years).

Oil Expected to Crash to $50 in early 2026
https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/
Global oil prices. We expect the Brent crude oil price will decline significantly in the coming months, falling from $68 per barrel (b) in August to $59/b on average in the fourth quarter of 2025 (4Q25) and around $50/b in early 2026
So it's only gonna get worse in 2026 then, I guess it really is time to jump ship. There was another thread a few months ago asking where halliburton was headed and it seems to me that they want to return to a pure services company, at least stateside. This is why they're purging all manufacturing from here. Seems like the only answer if you work in the manufacturing side is to get out. There is absolutely no future and they're telling us all every time they close another building.
I was told dbs lease on the building only has 1 year left on it. somehow i don't think they will be renewing it.
vote yes bc older t rates taking advantage of newer t rates

Nvidia’s $5B stake won’t fix Intel’s biggest headache, which is manufacturing losses
- Nvidia bought a $5 billion stake in Intel, causing Intel shares to jump 30%.
- The deal excluded Intel’s foundry unit, which lost $13 billion in 2024.
- Analysts say the manufacturing business will keep losing money through 2027.

Factory Workers & the Labor Movement: A History of Manufacturing & Layoffs - History Repeats Itself
The beginning is very warped. The film explores the impact of labor-saving machinery on employment and the economy. As factories ramp up production for defense needs, workers face potential layoffs due to automation. The narrative follows a group of factory workers and managers grappling with rising inventories and the challenge of selling increased output at higher prices. Despite aggressive marketing efforts, the lack of consumer purchasing power leads to a failure in sales campaigns. The film ultimately raises questions about balancing technological advancement with job security and the need for economic prosperity to enable consumer spending. Boeing AL 2025 cuts
Company: Boeing
Locations: Huntsville, Alabama
Departments affected: Space launch system program and related engineering roles
Number laid off: 71 in this round starting April 18 2025
Headquarters: Arlington, Virginia
What happened: Boeing filed a fresh WARN for its Huntsville site, cutting 71 roles starting April 18 2025, on top of earlier 2025 reductions at the same location. The moves tie to reshaping work on NASA’s SLS Artemis program and wider cost controls after a difficult 2024. Local and state notices show the timing and counts for this Alabama round.

Overcommitted Performance
I’ve heard factories are being asked to cut >$50M yearly while still ramping, that’s an extreme target. In the semiconductor space, savings of that magnitude usually come from headcount reductions, vendor contract restructuring, consolidation of manufacturing operations, etc.
Trying to hit that scale of savings during a ramp is especially problematic because ramping fabs need additional headcount, training, materials, and spare parts. That makes it contradictory: the fabs are being asked to grow output and shrink cost simultaneously.
Mohammad Yunus’s reputation (reducing headcount in Assembly/Test in Asia) suggests a playbook of workforce reduction as the primary lever. Bringing that mindset to U.S. fabs is dangerous and reckless from a senior leader driving knowledge drain. I’m surprised employees are not organizing to join Unions.
TI may have set itself up by over-promising Wall Street and under-investing in scalable cost infrastructure. The resulting “savings at any cost” mentality risks not only operations, but also employee trust and legal exposure.
Dexcom is cutting 350 jobs, mostly in San Diego
Dexcom, the San Diego-based maker of continuous glucose monitors for diabetes patients and prediabetics, announced Wednesday that it is laying off around 350 workers, or 3% of its global workforce. Most of these reductions, or 196 people, are in San Diego, and of those, 134 are in operations and manufacturing.
