I am not sure what this generation expected raising a family would be like or holding a full time job requires. Men went to war and women went to the factories in the second world war to make America trillions. How were their kids raised?

I am unable to do my best work at Fidelity due to all the silos and gatekeeping and now no one is available to execute installs that are only possible post market hours. I don't want any overtime or extra pay, that's ridiculous. What do you think the profit sharing and year end bonus and shares are?

If you can't hold a full time job and raise a family, quit one of the two. The whole country/ economy has been structured around automobile sales and consumerism. Where do you think the salaries of their janitorial and catering staff comes from? Have some empathy, you have already subscribed to the idea of capitalism, corporate America and overworked exceptionalism. What time off?

When you let go of your entitlement, that's when you are truly awake.

Most people here have been here for years. We joined when the rules were different, when loyalty meant something and a job was for life. Then the rules changed, and for those of us well into our careers, that's been hard to accept. But new hires came in knowing they'll move around and are not afraid to quit after a year or two. It's funny, it's the same company, but completely different mindsets.

Does anybody outside of boomers even go there anymore?

I’m in my late 20s so I assume I’m younger than a lot of you here and I’m also assuming a lot of y'all are probably my parents’ age or even older. Reading some of your hateful words on here Im honestly embarrassed for your kids. I can’t imagine if I saw or heard my mom or dad talk the way you do about human beings and all for what ? DEI? People keep trying to make this about generations. Older workers don't get younger workers. Younger workers resent older workers. That's not the real problem. The real problem is the gap between everyone who does the work and the executives who make the decisions. That's the only divide that matters.

Artemis astronaut ages ranging from 47 to 50. They are all GenXers, in a "sweet spot" of maximum competence and experience. Meanwhile at ExxonMobil’s we can’t abuse our Gen X employees enough and can’t run them off fast enough.

When I look around my team, it's mostly people near retirement. We do get some new faces, but they're usually gone within a year, either unable to fit in or unwilling to do the work. When the old guard finally leaves, there won't be anyone ready to step in. It's wild that there are almost no junior people learning the work.

The “old boys network” doesn’t refer to us all being se-----y as--ulted or discriminated against.
It was a time where the focus was sports and the athlete and grit.
It was before we offshored everything to folks that know nothing about our company and want to su-k us dry. You get what you pay for.
It was before we had to hire the coddled generations where everyone gets a trophy and is addicted to the slack alt pages and cries over not having a succession plan.
It was where we made money hand over fist.
Not sure we can get back to that with the leaders and employees we have now. Bunch of soft bi--hes. Come at me…..

Its beyond time for the baby boomer generation and people like MW, MN, DJT, Bezos and so many to retire and leave the country alone!

Why would the first sentence of your LinkedIn about section be a brag about coming “from a family that has nearly a century of combined service at ExxonMobil” Since when does what your dad or grandpa did at ExxonMobil matter for your own contribution?

People I expected would be the next generation of leaders in IT are all leaving or appear to be planning their exits even if they appear to be in safe roles. I know some on here don’t care about IT but it’s going to continue to get worse as our best people leave for better options. 23 years with the company and moral has never been half as bad as it is now. Sad days for Chevron.

Work is supposed to be fun, but companies have made it so difficult that many Gen X and Gen Z employees hate going to the office and feel like they’re just following marching orders. The ’90s and early 2000s felt more enjoyable because we had people from other cultures who assimilated and didn’t treat the U.S. as merely an economic zone. People weren’t constantly worried about their jobs being outsourced to developing countries.

We appreciate your sacrifice to help us older retireries collect for many years to come. Get back into those office cubicles and make JF proud.

I mentioned where I work during an outing this weekend, and someone actually asked what that was. He was young, maybe early 20s, but can you imagine a decade or so ago someone not knowing about Xerox? I wasn’t offended or anything, but if there’s ever been a sign of where the company stands now, that was it.

Wonderful news this morning that the company is announcing a new family building benefit. Although it sounds like a great initiative for young workers for the company, there still lacks any new benefits or appreciation of the older workforce with Enbridge.

Speaking from my experience: Ansys is an old giant with employees that have been around since the beginning with no desire to leave. What do these employees do? Not much. These 'experts' have enjoyed a really comfortable job for decades, while blocking the careers of younger talent. A decent paycheck with health insurance keeps a lot of these boomers secure. They are not current with new tech and tools, but still hold power in decisions. If there is anything positive that can come from these layoffs would be a purge of these folk.
