Outpatient Mental Health Therapist looking for advice/help regarding layoffs and moving home

I’m an outpatient mental health therapist at a very small location and have been here since January. We have had barely any new clients and have a huge office. Even though we have no new clients they are hiring 2-3 new therapists as well as a psych doctor…currently there are only two of us as all other therapists quit…neither has full case loads or are hitting RVU’s. I don’t understand how they can afford to keep the office open and have hired all these new people to start full time around the holidays when there are no clients to see. Marketing was supposed to host events since February but haven’t done one yet. They were supposed to do community reach out but still have not. And when I see on this website they are still laying people off it confuses me? As someone who has moved for this position can anyone give me an opinion if I should move back home and resign? Or risk renewing my lease only to be laid off or told we are closing? Just looking for ideas? Thanks

Keeping members in the loop

I work face to face with providers and members and decided to actually encourage them to come to this site and others to be informed about the atrocities of this company and how greedy and shallow the shareholders are. It is important members know the authorizations and care they need are getting created and handled by people oversees. I’ve had providers vent for hours on how rude the Indian representatives are and how they input the incorrect information in the system. I attend very single town meeting and take notes and inform those who are outside the company because this had got to stop. We need to take care of our members and only have American citizens handling their cases. I have even helped a few members find better and more affordable insurances and start the process for canceling whatever they have under UHG. I don’t care anymore.

Backlash over layoffs @ UCSD

UC San Diego Health faces backlash over layoffs of 230 workers

The layoffs, announced on Monday, represent about 1.5% of the health system's workforce and include a range of frontline healthcare providers.

Company: UC San Diego Health
Number of People Laid Off: 230
Locations: San Diego, CA
Industry: Healthcare

UC San Diego Health has laid off about 230 employees across its hospitals and clinics, representing roughly 1.5 percent of its workforce. The cuts included a range of frontline healthcare workers such as pharmacists, clinical social workers, and laboratory scientists. The health system said the decision was driven by financial pressures, citing federal policy changes, regulatory uncertainty, and rising costs of care.

The move has sparked backlash from labor representatives, who argue that layoffs will worsen existing staffing shortages and jeopardize patient safety. Union leaders warned that reducing staff could increase the risk of diagnostic errors and leave nurses and other providers overwhelmed.

Some employees were reportedly dismissed mid-shift with little notice. One former IT staff member described being handed paperwork, given a few minutes to collect his belongings, and then escorted out. Workers and unions alike expressed concern that patients seeking care at one of the region’s top hospitals may not realize the strain staff are under behind the scenes.

  • The cuts are part of a strategic plan to address financial strain and support long-term sustainability.
  • CHLA leadership says the decision was driven by external pressures, including reduced Medi-Cal reimbursement rates.

At least 600 CDC employees are getting final termination notices

At least 600 employees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are receiving permanent termination notices in the wake of a recent court decision that protected some CDC employees from layoffs but not others.

The notices went out this week and many people have not yet received them, according to the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents more than 2,000 dues-paying members at CDC.

Will this lead to a layoff?

I have been on leave since February and recently returned. I have been out of the loop, to say the least. Usually, I feel more 'in the know', but I feel vulnerable and on the outside. Understanding that...

I am currently in a role that supports the Texas Duals program. I was wondering, if based on leadership meetings (that I missed), and possibly other things, like internal conversations with other areas, mgmt. etc., if any one thinks there will be layoff around the program terminating at the end of the year? My role directly supports the program, so I am wondering if I should start looking elsewhere.

CentraCare Restructuring to Bring Layoffs

According to CentraCare, it’s unclear how many people will be affected by the cuts as they work to find positions for them within the healthcare providers’ network. The adjustments primarily affect administrative and support staff, who fill several non-medical roles such as billing specialists, IT workers, and maintenance crews, though some patient care positions will also be eliminated.
