IBM’s spinoff, Kyndryl, seems to be in a wee bit of trouble.
I was going to attach a link, but honestly, just Google it — there are plenty of articles out there.
It’s a company led by former IBM executives, operating with the same policies, technology stack, infrastructure, and culture.
Something is rotten. Will it infect the mothership?
Weeks after scrubbing “renewable energy” from its name, the National Laboratory of the Rockies in Golden, formerly known as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is also shedding workers.
The cuts impacted 134 employees engaged in both research and operations at the laboratory, according to an emailed statement from David Glickson, a spokesperson for the federal research center.

xLight, a U.S.-based startup developing an EUV light source based on a particle accelerator, on Tuesday signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the U.S. Department of Commerce for $150 million in proposed federal incentives under the CHIPS and Science Act. xLight came out of the blue earlier this year when it hired Pat Gelsinger, former chief executive of Intel, as executive chairman. The money, if awarded, will be used to bring xLight's free-electron laser (FEL) based light source closer to reality once it is built in Albany and its viability is proven in practice.

Anyone know the reasons for, or implications of, this?

It appears that 2026 layoff round has began.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution announced additional layoffs this week. Parent company Cox Enterprises is accelerating its digital transformation strategy. These cuts aim to align resources with evolving reader habits. The move reflects broader challenges facing regional newspapers nationwide. Declining print revenue and shifting consumption patterns force painful restructuring decisions.

Anyone hearing we are getting new CEO? Nick from Frontier? He did major restructuring at frontier. So if news so true buckle up guys.
50% sure they will announce chapter 7 restructure.
I am reliably informed that Stevie is next in line to be laid off, he’s off to HP to accelerate their downfall. When 2 dumpster fires collide.
They just did it again last week but a smaller round and called it “cost cutting”. They just can’t help themselves. Post if you know more
Billions lost in stock value but at least the company is pumping out future of finance and the rising star fuel articles like their the nyt

Designer Brands, owner of Designer Shoe Warehouse, confirmed that the company underwent layoffs last week.
The company did not answer questions regarding the number of employees or departments impacted. Designer Brands also did not comment on questions regarding whether employees were offered severance or other benefits, but did state that the company’s priority “is to support affected associates with the resources they need during this transition.”

The layoffs - which are expected to be permanent - were attributed to "operational changes in CVS Health Aetna's Small Group business segment," according to the letter. Layoffs will occur between early April and late July, according to the letter.

People keep mentioning that layoffs are not only happening in Europe, but I haven't heard anything about cuts here so far. Can somebody share what's being hit?
Enjoyed seeing the CEOs of United Healthcare and CVS/Aetna getting scolded by different members of congress last week. How can we make sure Sarah doesn’t miss out on that fun? I need to see her explaining all her little “High Touch Initiatives” put in place in those state plans with high MCR rates. Popcorn ready!

Not surprised! Even with Quality Audits, that area still couldn’t get it together after years and years.
RiF’d the wrong people last year IMO

The Seattle area recently shed jobs. This marks the first job loss since the pandemic began. The region had previously added fewer than 15,000 jobs in 2024. Further details are behind a paywall. The Puget Sound Business Journal reported this development.

Company planning next steps
Company in loads and loads of chaos. No CEO just disappear overnight like that and move out. The damage done by Lores is unthinkable. His playbook is to max payment to Shareholders via stock buy back and div to pump up share price to fattened himself and other C-suite, while stripping away everything possible internally. This failed miserably as shareprice during his tenure and now was lower.
