Massive self-layoff incoming

Our contracting firms use H1b to save 25%. This new fee destroys Nike’s contracting model. Leadership will probably try offshoring more but those individuals juggle 3 jobs concurrently and don’t do any real work.

Things have been falling apart the last few years and it’s only going to get worse. This is going to be such a dumpster fire.

New H1B Visa Fee $100k/

Finally someone I. Government is catching on to this back door theft of American jobs.

How many workers does Exxon have in the USA on H1B visas?

This is going to have an impact. Get ready Canada and other HC10 locations.

H1-B just got a lot more expensive

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump is expected to sign a proclamation as soon as Friday that would move to extensively overhaul the H-1B visa program, requiring a $100,000 fee for applications in a bid to curb overuse, according to a White House official familiar with the matter.

Changing Roles and Moving Schedules?

A mandatory shift bid, AI, moving people’s roles, changing up departments (Which can often be a sign of layoffs creeping up), and changing metrics? Some of this helps, but I feel as if these changes are being implemented to make a lot of people voluntarily leave to avoid layoffs. It smells of constructive dismissal/discharge in some form. Maybe I’m wrong. This job has had its pros and cons. I’m sorry to those of you who have to endure whatever Wayfair throws.

I want to leave Ford

What’s been your experience with the job search lately? I’ve been looking for months, and honestly, I’m open to creative ideas and stepping well outside my comfort zone. I won’t go into praising or bashing Ford. I’m just personally burned out after years here that led nowhere. On top of that, I’m flat-out bored with my job. Maybe it’s not the best timing for a change, but I need one badly.

The force out has begun

Writing up employees and managers left and right. Adding more and more responsibilities on all. Constant changes with no training or notice of the change. Constant emails of impending changes. Constant meetings, messages, sxs, 1 on 1. More and more coming everyday. And they are starting to drop like flies. SF is shaking the tree before the big reorganization.

Worried about what’s ahead

With the CEO stepping down, it’s hard not to feel uncertain about what’s next. Whoever takes over is likely to bring major changes. And we all know that frontline employees are usually the first to feel the impact of any reorganization or cuts. The economy’s slipping, the job market isn’t great, and many of us are already stretched thin, both financially and emotionally. A little stability would go a long way in easing the pressure we’ve all been feeling. But right now, it’s hard to see where that might come from.

Micron work culture and stability situation

Hi All,
I was impacted by Layoff recently and got offer from Micron Folsom (HBM) and another competing memory company (WD/SD) in Bay Area recently for mid engineer level role. I am looking for views on how the Micron work culture/yearly performance refresher talks is as I heard about the extremely competitive bell curve based performance review few years ago (is it still present?).
Also, how do you feel is the stability right now for atleast next 2-4 years as I have been recently impacted and wouldn’t want to go through same again, need some stability from personal life perspective.
Thank you!

Change BS Stream

Did anyone else find the SH session on the Change Stream demotivating today? Apparently all of our products are currently horrible and difficult for our sales people to understand and sell, then why are we beating all forecasts for WL and PL? Only the Change steam will save us now. Also, what a great idea for everyone to stretch and do 120%, what genius! Glad Covid and dealing with kids forced back into homeschooling is no longer a concern (it is). It was pretty slick to say we actually increased headcount in 2021, when we fired across US and UK only to hire in low cost countries like India and now Mexico. Not sure if anyone else caught it, but I heard they aren't sure about Costa Rica. Translation, if you work in Costa Rica TR you won't for much longer. I could go on and on about McKinsey, Facebook, Amazon and the Digital/Change experienced know nothing hires, but I better grab a glass of wine and relax.
