I was today years old when I learned there is such a thing as a layoff merch industry, and it's thriving. What the he-l? Why are people selling layoff shirts, jerseys, cups, and whatnot, and more importantly, why are people buying it? Somebody make it make sense, please.

Former Verizon employees
Hi, Verizon employee here. I have heard that many former Verizon employees went to T-Mo. If you are one of them, can you provide some insight into the similarities and differences? Not asking for specifics, just generalizations. Curious about how different we all are. I am former ATT and found both ATT and VZ to be pretty similar
I was told not a month ago my job was safe
It was not. Don't trust your managers, folks. They'll lie to keep you quiet and cooperative without a second thought.
Hughes is required to refer new customers to starlink
I recently found out that Hughes doesn’t actually own the Jupiter-3 satellite, it’s leased from EchoStar, and Hughes pays about $190 million per year for that lease.
I also learned that the SpaceX–EchoStar spectrum deal includes a clause requiring EchoStar/Hughes to refer new customers to Starlink. Essentially, if someone wants satellite internet, EchoStar will direct them to SpaceX’s Starlink service . Bonkers 🤯
T-Mo…..
T-Mo planning a 10%+ cut in force and is gunna use the VZ announcement as cover. We’ve being used!
Layoffs
If yall haven't noticed the layoffs have started and there is more to come. They are staggering it to avoid WARN notices.
P&G has proved that experienced hires will always get step child treatment.
Let’s talk about it Charlie
Has anyone received formal written communication of any of the following changes:
1) requirement that we are in the office for 8 hours on in-office days or
2) move to 4 days in-office for some LOBs (ie. Corp Risk)?
It blows my mind that they updated the in-office guidance in October and did not send a single written notice to employees before they told managers to enforce it. In Risk, we’ve been informed verbally that we’re moving to 4 days in-office (even though CS just said nothing is changing) but have not gotten anything in writing confirming this is happening or when it will become effective. We should be getting notified of changes like this at least 60 days beforehand.
Next Layoffs ----- November & December
Has anyone heard anything going with T?
Anyone else invited to meeting next week that your entire team must attend?
Very vague/confusing meeting name said (Option 3 at the end), so I'm guessing it's not good news.
How many were let go this week?
Bad news for med surg this week. Does anyone know the full count of people let go? Other parts of the Company too?
engineers
engineers safe, only overheads being axed.

It what is the union strikes
And the company has gotten rid of this exorbitant percentage of management employees? Who's working strike duty and who's running the freaking company?
Did I miss an email from Says or Menace
regarding the layoffs?
Still amazing that there are no all clear notes or organizational updates. Just here yesterday and poof.

How could Cisco be #3 best place to work?
I have a hard time to believe that.
Time to Sell IBM
IBM has become such a dysfunctional relic that the most merciful thing left is for the company to sell itself to someone who actually knows how to run a tech business. Years of clueless leadership, bloated acquisitions, pointless reorgs, and nonstop layoffs have turned the place into a slow-motion train wreck where innovation goes to die and the employees who keep the lights on get punished for it. IBM isn’t “transforming” — it’s circling the drain. A sale might be the only shot this dinosaur has at survival.
Leaders
I hate to see anyone lose their job but it looks like Dan is doing exactly what most people wanted. He is letting go of the leaders that are responsible for the currwnt state of the company

For the full year 2024, Verizon reported a consolidated net income of $17.5 billion, a 50.73% increase from 2023. Full-year 2024 earnings per share (EPS) were $4.14, compared to $2.75 for the full year 2023.

President Donald Trump said he was “very much opposed” to last month’s controversial immigration raid at a Hyundai plant in Georgia, while South Korean President Lee Jae Myung warned the incident may hinder future U.S. factory construction.
Following urgent negotiations, the workers were returned to South Korea on a chartered flight. The operation, however, leaves the plant with a startup delay of two to three months. The setback comes as Seoul already faces 25% U.S. tariffs on automobiles, compared to 15% for Japanese and European competitors.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Lee said the treatment of the workers came as a surprise: “Many in Korea were surprised because our workers who went to the United States to help the U.S. with its manufacturing renaissance received irrational treatment.” He also characterized the experience as traumatic for both workers and their families, noting some that some no longer want to go back. “Unless we completely resolve this issue, I believe that they will not want to return,” he said.
Shut it down and move overseas
Hey Dan. Do us all a favor and shut it down here in the US and move the whole operation to the Philippines. Quit playing games, just get it done.
Layoffs for the Holidays!
How Highmark of them. This morning 3 from our group (including me) were laid off in a TEAMS MEETING. Keepin' it classy, Highmark.

Seriously? Hiring his friends, paying them a LOT of $$$$ while thousands will lose their jobs.
“Transformation” = mass employee layoffs
Company outlook
Does anyone truly know what this company‘s plan is as a long-term employee? I question this myself. There seems to be no career path no talk about company status. Very slow at releasing new equipment very poor at supporting direct operations. It just seems like nobody cares about anything anymore internally. I would think with the right people in the right places in upper management things would change drastically, but have been stagnant and a shame for a while.
This is more than employees being riffed
This round is employees. Next round The Company is literally eliminating groups. Any business that's been struggling to make money is gone. They make no money in advertising because yahoo was a failure, they make no money in fleet, no money in video they failed at TV and the streaming business, no money in international business, no money in cyber security, no money in government contracts
Dan is focused on being a wireless phone company with hopes of AI bringing new ideas to the table. The old ideas are going to be eliminated

Verizon is crazy for keeping us anxious for WEEKS!
I am not sure how Verizon's employees will bounce back. I see many creating resumes and trying to find a job. Once the layoffs are done, the employees who were meant to be retained will also leave. I don't understand how the leadership doesn't understand something as basic as this. Every company that has done layoffs, do it FIRST, then go to the press. Here, we are getting to know the fate of the company not from our employer, but from news outlets. That's extremely disrespectful. I hope people realize their self-worth and abandon ship before its too late and Dan decides to come for them.
