Verizon hikes prices on multiple discounted offers for customers
Aug 24, 2026 7:17 PM EDT
https://www.thestreet.com/retail/verizon-raises-prices-disney-streaming-bundles
"The pricing changes came after Verizon CEO Dan Schulman vowed to be more cautious about enforcing price increases following the loss of roughly 2.25 million wireless customers over the past three years. He reaffirmed this promise on an earnings call in July."
“We will not raise prices without adding corresponding value for our customers,” said Schulman.
"On its website, Verizon states that the rate adjustments take effect on Sept. 17 and blames Disney for these upcoming changes."
Verizon sales and support representatives often keep customers on expensive plans against their requests because company commission structures and performance metrics heavily incentivize high-tier plan retention and upsells.
How do executives think the AT&T guarantee is a good thing?
If anything, it’s a complete middle finger to the customer when their internet is out for a day, and they get $2.32 refunded 30 days later.
Are they just THIS out of touch with normal people?
I put years into USAA many years ago, before USAA even advertised on TV much less did any performative woke sh--. I was there in C when Bob Davis decided that parts of USAA and the people who work there are just disposable biomass. Much like the Indian contractors who vie for izzat points nobody outside the building cares about now.
Have had several friends and family members also come and go from USAA over the years. Short of the period Joe Robles was trying to repair the damage from the Herres/Davis years, everyone left the place never wanting to return or hear of it again (IOW, the typical USAA exit experience).
Overall, a large chunk of USAA membership is now fully aware they are getting subpar financial products, particularly with the bank. But of course also with dwell and auto. It's probably been 15 years now since I've heard a single veteran sing the company's praises. They're still with USAA only because of inertia and the chore of moving accounts away (a chore that's less of a chore now thanks to Plaid).
Then occasionally USAA does something to knock off a few procrastinators who take their business.
Let's take the ridiculous marketing and advertising of P&C this summer, specifically the laughable auto rates that the quotes system has been handing out. How many millions were poured into getting us all to laugh? Many LOLs were had by prospects sharing their USAA quotes on Instagram this season.
Like... GEICO writes motorcycle policies for $75 a bike on a FULL YEAR TERM, right now without UIM and $175 with UIM. USAA can't even underwrite that sector anymore (it used to, back when it also sold jewelry in the basement of the AB building LOL), pays PRO's fees and hands out a sh-t laughable quote 20 times higher. I sat with my sister (she has a perfect FICO 850 no claims) and got a $4,900 annual for a Nissan with 2k miles. Everyone else came under $3,000. The only way I could describe this behavior coming from USAA, and this is my opinion of course... but I'm confident I'm not alone with this opinion: USAA has finally devolved itself into a full-blown FTC-violating scam operation.
It's either that or there is some serious FCF problem at the company to be throwing quotes out multiples to the market, higher than Chubb.
I mean, I guess the new overpaid IBM Bob AI can figure out how to right the company since hundreds of leaders that have come/gone can't seem to figure it out. Perhaps its hopeless.
Remember: USAA was once a business that was growing with no advertising and it also built its HQ on Fred Road while it was never advertising. It had a culture. Which has been completely destroyed and is never coming back. The members were once so excited about the company and the culture, the business sold itself and members told others of its values for free.
Look at it now. USAA is a cesspit masquerading as finance.
Maybe USAA should go ahead and re-register itself into Virgin Islands shell husk like CIGNA did and free the HQ building and the land up. Nobody needs any of the products the company offers any longer.
A few weeks old but still interesting. Community Forum was closed to push people to use the AI tech support. Apparently most customers didn't know it even existed because they already vented amongst themselves on Reddit, Facebook and X (the artist formerly known as Twitter)

How is this layoff related?
Customer sentiment is an indicator of company success.
Company success or lack thereof is an indicator of future layoffs.
Successful company has layoffs → customer satisfaction drops → customers leave → company success drops → company has to course correct and maybe stop layoffs to regain customers or face the decision to sell or close.
Am I petty and immature for being overjoyed that my dog sitter texted her clients to say she has had too many bad experiences with Venmo and will no longer accept payments via Venmo?
https://www.phonearena.com/news/we-asked-you-what-it-would-take-for-verizon-to-bring-you-back-and-the-answer-was-no-surprise_id181970
We asked you what it would take for Verizon to bring you back and the answer was no surprise. The answer probably won't shock you, but the number will.
Verizon has leaned on network reliability as its calling card for years. 52.79% of voters said cheaperplans would get them to come back to Verizon.Only 15.79% wanted a better or faster network, and 11.48% wanted improved coverage, while 19.94% said nothing would bring them back at all.To ex-Verizon subscribers: what would make you return? Better network with higher speeds.12.07%.Reliability isn't what's keeping people awayThat's a strange kind of win for Russo. If the goal really was a network nobody thinks.about, this poll suggests he mostly pulled it off. Only about 27% of respondents cited.the network or coverage as a reason to return, and that number looks smaller once
you remember plenty of longtime subscribers walked away over price hikes If ex-Verizon customers aren't shopping for a stronger signal, network bragging rights carry less weight than the monthly bill.
MVNOs like Visible and Mint Mobile, which lean almost entirely on price, are probably
better positioned to win this group back than any new 5G milestone. What the 19.94% tells us If you're one of the 19.94% who said nothing would bring you back, that's worth sitting with. Almost a fifth of respondents aren't shopping on price or performance anymore, they're just done. For everyone else, the takeaway is simpler. Verizon's reliability doesn't appear to be in question anymore, at least according to you. What's still in question is whether the carrier is willing to compete on price the way its own MVNOs already do.
Where Verizon's pitch still falls short that reliability builds trust. But trust alone doesn't win back asubscriber who already left, and this poll makes it pretty clear that price decides it for most people.Verizon has leaned on network quality as its calling card for years, and based on what.you told us, that part of the pitch isn't what's broken. The pricing pitch is. If Dan Schulman's promised customer-first era is going to move the needle with ex- subscribers, it likely runs through cheaper plans long before it runs through faster
speeds.
I see them more and more in my country. Public Sector.
Customer set an aspirational spend, not committed. Discounts are given on a rate card based on that aspirational spend.
What’s the whole point about this? Do you see these contracts in your countries?.
To anybody out there. Be honest, not discouraging, I have another job opportunity with ATT. It would be a field service rep, you go and sell to customers that have appointments for internet install. The pay sounds great, does anybody know anything about taking this job?
I was recently laid off and have had nothing but issues with my account. The problem is, you can’t approach fidelity for help online. On r** for example, the mods will falsely flag comments and posts as spam, downvote you 100 times, why is this an okay practice? Lots of customers leaving, going to Vanguard etc. Loss of customers only leads to may layoffs. But most companies currently don’t seem to care about the American people. Sad times.
"Customers are the heart of everything" used to be the slogan for TR. Then they got rid of it. Then they were "the answer company." That went away, I guess the answers did too.... So what are they now? A shell of itself. It's been a long time since TR was rated one of the best places to work in Michigan or the United States. It's funny to see when the company is posted as a best place to work in another country. They'll find out soon enough. It's sad to see what it's become. The people are what made it worthwhile. Now they're pushing out the people.
There was a recent discussion in IBM's fall because of AI transformation. Do we have similar issues with Oracle ? more On-prem customers leaving Oracle because of Cloud adoption ? or we are able to successfully convert them ?

Welcome to the layoff machine.
You are no longer in the security business. You are in the LR business.
To Astrix customers: Palo Alto Networks is in your future.
Yes, we are actually looking for CE for our customer in the South of England to maintain IBM legacy equipment. So if you have been recently laid off or are about to be, let me know.
"The joint venture will serve more than 3,000 customers across more than 180 countries, representing approx. $4 billion in combined annual revenue."
3,000 customers across 180 countries is a rough average of about 17 customers per country. That may not sound like much, but $4 billion revenue on those 3,000 customers averages out to about $1.3 million per customer.
So whatever it is we are doing in those 180 countries that is generating $1.3M per customer, we just need to do the same thing here in the USA for our 146 million customers, and that will generate $190 trillion dollars per year.
This will transform our company and delight our customers. Problem solved. You're welcome.
Pro Funds is leaving on 08/01/2026.
Not a large client, but a client, just the same.
Evidently, they are not happy either.

but instead of talking about the usual "diversity" bullsh-t, when will this company find a way to gain usage? Mainly any store allows google pay as a payment option, what about this company? Paypal is around way more years, why being stuck only in the ecommerce realm? I know they are trying their best to make it as shittier day by day but still...
Why are there so many Sirius sellers leaving, or left, the company? CDW is hemorrhaging all the 20 year customer relationships? As a CDW seller, I was assigned a lot of these accounts, that came with very high quotas and they don't want to do business with me. My management said these all would be easy accounts to farm and my income would double. I am starting to realize CDW management doesn't understand why customers buy from who they do and most of them that I know of never had a job selling directly.
I gave over nine years of dedicated service to HealthStream, maintaining great customer metrics and actively training others in my department. I truly believed in the company's mission, but leadership proved that they do not care about the people executing it. Experienced, loyal employees are treated as disposable assets to clear room for management-level raises and financial metrics. A deeply disappointing end to a long tenure.
Cisco just sells the hw & sw. Not responsible for what customers do with it.

liberal loonies dissenting obviously
So many missed potential sales with these Amazon returns. The dinosaurs in leadership stuck on old rent-to-own tactics trying to convert non rent-to-own people into customers instead of making our business meet their needs and earn their business. I've had success selling to these people and let's just say $.01 starts doesnt work. Averaging $140 in cod with these sales. It can be done. Need new fresh minds at the top. Stop holding us back!
Today, I met a small business owner who uses One Talk. He became very frustrated when he found out that I had previously worked on another Verizon project, even though I explained that I no longer work for Verizon …
He then shared his opinion that companies lose customer trust when they fail to listen to customer feedback, retain ineffective employees, and let go of capable people. He questioned why companies make such decisions and felt that they ultimately damage customer confidence and loyalty.
The very same thing Oasis does can be produced out of the box on most AI platforms.
ChatGPT / Claude premium offers numerous agents now built in click and go type that do many things that needed a manual agent build.
You literally type into chat monitor this server for Xyz and set triggers conditions and it does it for you.
DXC don’t have the resources these AI companies have…. Which bell end thought clients would pay us millions for this?
I was told by a colleague today that Apps Modernisation are saying that they will accept payment when savings are realised - essentially means free work now, pay later if it all works.
Anyone else get this?
Verizon / Frontier - RIF them all in Wisconsin
We are a customer. No one an employee.
Leadership is asleep. Frontier in our area has always been a nightmare to work with. Now with it being Verizon, it is worse.
It is as though they are driving it into the ground, so that long-time Verizon leadership can be recognized for turning things around.
For decades, at least three times a year, phone lines and DSL break. Takes Frontier days to respond.
In the latest episode of "i need things fixed", Frontier constantly blamed the customer for every little thing. Field tech went to the wrong address.
Put a note on the door saying that they missed us. 4:55pm.. 5 min before their shift ended. Wanted to blame the customer again. Excuse after excuse for why
they are unable to resolve the issue.
For years we have asked Frontier to visit the property to see what we were up against. No.
We have asked for assistance with running new lines to a new building. No.
We have asked for the old copper in the ground to be grounded or replaced. No.
Charter has responded. The entire area will have true fiber fed high-speed internet by Fall 2026.
It did take a few phone calls to get to the Engineering department, but there has been awesome communication between us and them on our needs.
Actively communicating with us on which buildings need what.
We are actively working with them to build out a lake community of 300 homes where Frontier refuses and says DSL is just fine.
Get rid of the weakest links and replace leadership up here with customer focused engineers who know what it takes to get things done.
Customers are investors too!
Ford should halt selling vehicles through Dealerships and sell new Ford clunkers and junk vehicles through Auto Auctions only. Ford should sell vehicles AS-IS WHERE-IS with no implied warranty. Ford should also add a sicker on the vehicles windshields saying Buyer Beware. This would cover all the bases so Ford don’t have to service any vehicles once they run them through Auto Auctions and there are plenty auctions throughout the country.
This is the easiest way Ford can stop burning money and stay in business. Ford can also layoff every employee involved with Customer support and financing roles
This defines our “leadership” deficit:
The reality:
Ford acquired its ADT joint-venture "Canopy" and discontinued its standalone Pickup Cam. Original hardware and app subscribers are receiving full hardware refunds and are no longer supported.
The Ford “leadership” bio:
He also co-founded and led the AI-driven venture Canopy from inception through a joint venture and its successful acquisition by Ford Motor Company.
How do you call a venture that refunded all customer money SUCCESSFUL???
Only at Ford would this person still have a job.

Also check your State Laws, as certain States have counters to the use of it. Knowledge is Power.
These trends are undermining decades of progress in consumer and labor rights.

All Health Insurance companies will accomplish by leveraging AI over human being workforce is to provide a lesser quality of services and product to whom should be their customer base.
Will AI save corporations millions if not billions of dollars, which will make shareholders money and also C-suite executives bonuses.
But at the cost of it membership having a lesser, albeit cheaper, quality of services.
Problem is, all Health Insurance corporations consider shareholders to be their customer, not their membership. That is the problem with allowing public stock traded corporations to administer government funded products, such as Medicare.
