Air Conditioning cut?

Am I the only one who has noticed that the Webster, NY buildings feel warmer this summer than they did last summer? There is zero cool air movement in some of the labs and some of the cubicle areas. One lab in particular, which we used to call "Ice Box," is now "The Bahamas." It is literally that hot in there.

Salesforce Reduces Washington Workforce

Salesforce is implementing another round of job cuts in Washington state. The enterprise software company is eliminating 59 positions across various tech roles. These layoffs affect employees in both Seattle and Bellevue. This marks the third set of reductions for Salesforce this year. The company acquired Tableau in 2019.

Snacks at HQ?

I work in MN and I've really been dreading going back to the office.

Since I've been remote, I can have snacks as often as I want and keep them in a fridge under my desk. I'm not sure I can make it a few feet to the vending machine for some Oreos without passing out. Lumbering from my car to my desk every morning also makes me very tired.

Does anyone know if there are snacks like trail mix available between or at meetings? I am worried about how much energy I will use talking and putting shoes on.

Does anyone have advice on how I could get a reasonable accommodation to have 8 lunch breaks and an emotional support mini fridge?

Teachers Union Sues County Over School Funds

The Illinois Federation of Teachers has filed a lawsuit against the Cook County Treasurer's office. They allege the office is withholding hundreds of millions in property tax funds meant for public schools. This alleged failure to disburse funds has led to budget shortfalls and educator layoffs in school districts. The lawsuit seeks a court order for fund disbursement and compensation for damages. The IFT claims the Treasurer's office is holding approximately $400 million in property tax payments.

Office conditions

Why does nobody address the condition of the offices and the health hazards they may impose. Conditions are extremely unsanitary, and I believe as an organization we can do better…how do we gain some momentum in this regard as going into the office is required, but there is no care around, cleaning areas, and air quality is very questionable. Where do we start so we can improve?

Forced in office 5 days without a desk

We just got moved to a different floor In HQ, and there's not enough desks for the number of people. But they require us to be in office 5 days a week sitting on this floor. We can't leave stuff on our desks because it's supposed to be flex seating but people do. And if you get there later than 8am, good luck sitting somewhere with a monitor. People are buying their own portible monitors. They are sitting in the lunch area and hopping from huddle room to huddle room. It's f***ed.

Was it a 1 on 1 that turned into a surprise meeting with HR?

How did you find out that you were being laid off? Mine was scheduled during my normal one on one time, but with a surprise variant, a meeting room was booked in the office. When I got there, you know who wasn't there? My manager. He was remote.....but booked a meeting room in the office. Ok. You know who was there? Some long faced lady from HR that looked like Droopy. You know what we never had, my actual one on one. Imagine spending time gathering feedback, requesting it, people writing it, all for you never to see it and get laid off. I'd heard they do funny things around twenty years, sure enough, right before twenty they do some bullsh-t.

Downstream Webcast

Why are these execs so delusional? The message could not be more clear: pump all your data into our systems so our AI and India teams can cut your jobs. Also, get your a-s in an office even if that means you're staring at a wall.

Cut the execs, watch us perform better without them.

Sirius lays off 12 from the Howard Stern show.

Having worked there for the past 10 years I was shocked to come in and find this out. It feels like familiar faces have been wiped from the office like trying to get an old apple product fixed in the apple store. I heard that the NDAs were brutal? Anyone have any news from those laid off?

Target Mandates Increased Office Presence

Target is requiring its merchandising employees to return to the office four days per week, an increase from the previous three-day mandate. This change affects buyers, planners, and inventory management staff. The company stated that increased in-person collaboration will lead to faster decision-making and stronger partnerships. This move aligns with a broader trend of companies increasing in-office requirements for employees. The new policy takes effect in early September.

Richmond office

As a new employee about to start on Monday, how secure is the Richmond office? Can anyone just get on the campus, or is there security at the entrance where you need to show your badge to enter? I don’t want to walk out to the parking lot and see that my car was broken in to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RTO Question

Not sure where else to ask this, so will do it here. Curious what RTO looks like for different groups across T-Mo. I have a feeling it is not being applied consistently across different organizations. If you reply, please state days per week you are required to be in the office and what organization you are in.

Flexibility - Gone!

We worked perfectly fine remote during Covid. Then it’s back to the office but no assigned seating. Fine. Then it’s tracking days in office. Ok. Then it’s tracking hours in office. Alright making it work. Now they are taking away specialty locations. Annoying and decreases talent pool. But now they want to focus on making teams sit with each other and move offices so people are co-located. Are we children? Give back assigned seats or treat us like adults as long as we get the job done. Next they will be required 4 days and/or certain days. I prefer to find a nice quiet corner to get my work done.
