I didn't take the VSP benefits package. So when do I find out or when do they do those cuts.

A sincere Thank You
As someone who will either receive the VSP offer or leave on my own accord, I want to sincerely thank Centene. It may have not lasted as long as I wanted or ended the way I would have liked, but it has been a very beneficial, multi year gig of which I am eternally grateful for. The only constant is change and nothing last forever. Best of luck to everyone going forward!
Centene People Leaders and Senior Staff: Lost bid and VSP
For those familiar with Centene’s restructuring, especially employees from health plans that have already lost a contract or bid:
- What happened to the health plan after it lost the bid?
- Were employees transferred to other Centene plans or departments, or were they laid off?
- How much notice did employees receive?
- Did leadership discourage employees from taking the VSP? ( I believe they did this indirectly to fulfill the remaining of the contract)
- Are VSP approvals based on staffing needs, performance, tenure, position, or another factor?
- Are major SOP and productivity changes usually a warning sign of layoffs or department consolidation?
Added work travel
So, a position that was once totally remote, now requires us to go on site multiple times a week. We reallyr had no choice. The clinics are as far as three hours away. We were just told this is what we will have to do now. Has this happened to anyone else? This began happening a few weeks before the vsp announcement but now it is a requirement.
Call from Fidelity
Has anyone that applied for the VSP received a call from Fidelity to talk about their 401K
ADA Reassignment
Is anyone else on an ada reassignment with Centene? If, so. How is that going? Have they explained anything about the VSP, and if you are still eligible if a separation take place . you before the decision date? I can’t get any answers from no one in the company or the hotline.
Any vsp information shared yet
Curious, if any other people leaders have been informed on those that requested the VSP yet. And if so, how is that process going?
Involuntary layoffs question
So, for those of us who might get laid off and we DIDNT take the VSP - do we get no pay? or just get paid the 2 weeks like I keep hearing about? Thats rather cr_ppy! Does anyone here know for sure?
Maybe they didn’t plan for this …

Could be throwing a monkey wrench into to replacement strategy for VSP workers
Just a general question...
So once the VSP requests are all processed by/before the 27th, how long do you all suspect it'll be before the involuntary layoffs begin?
I think Managers/PL know more than what they are letting on....
......as my manager told us last Monday that an important update about the VSP was coming and he was referring to the date change to rescind your application.....the email that was only sent to those that applied for the VSP. So, either my manager applied for VSP and got the email, or managers are getting more information than what they are sharing with the plebes.
VSP Email
Have you looked at the VSP email? They’re claiming that not applying for VSP doesn't mean you're on the chopping block later, but we all know how this usually goes. Does anyone have any idea how they’re actually calculating who gets impacted if they don’t get enough people to take the package? Let me know if you heard anything.
VSP approval question
Does anyone have any exact insight on how long will they keep those that applied for VSP? I know it depends on needs I am just wanting to know if anyone has any specifics. The waiting is difficult. Just trying hard to keep busy.
VSP
I wonder if the VSP will be offered again if they don't get the number that they were wanting. I was back & forth, but decided not to take it. Now I'm wondering if I should have.
When do people officially find out whether they will get the vsp
What is the date where people will officially get the vsp? Quite a few people I am working with are checked out and wondering if they took it.
09/04 Separation date
I applied for VSP and I can honestly say that after 15 yrs with company I am ok if they offer an earlier separation date than 09/04. I’m truly exhausted with all the changes within the company over that past few years. I don’t know what the future holds for me but I’m gonna step out on faith. My mental can’t survive this place much longer. Anyone else feeling like this?
SVP acceptance
So what happens if way too many people applied for VSP? It’s making me nervous since we received follow emails asking if we want to withdraw our application. Does that mean an overwhelming amount of people applied? If so, does that mean many people will be denied?
A sacrifice…
Can I nominate my leader for VSP? ;)
What positions are they slashing
I applied for the VSP but I'm in a Service Coordinator role where each of us manages upwards of 200-400 cases. Will they accept us? What will happen to those cases? Not that I really give a sht I'm just worried I won't get accepted bc it's a broken fcked up system. I need OUT of that hellscape
VSP approvals
Has anyone heard how likely it is for approval of their application for the VSP?
PHCO Town Hall
Thoughts on anyone who just attended the town hall? What a load of BS. I am sure all the staff on the call appreciated the UM Tech slide and AI taking over their jobs. Questions in the chat on VSP, were responded with VSP is not part of this presentation, we have no further updates to share, appreciate this is a stressful time and the VSP decision is a personal one. Basam and team could not be anymore disrespectful. So disingenuous to your valued employees. Disgraceful!!!
Micromanagement
Anyone else all of a sudden being micromanaged by their people leader? I just had the strangest one-to-one with mine. It’s usually been pretty good but this was almost hostile and very uncomfortable. I did put in for the VSP and I’m just counting the minutes until I can get out of there. But this makes me nervous – are they trying to fire people before they can qualify for this? I don’t think she knows that I put in for the VSP – but my people leader and her Supervisor are acting like none of this is happening. We never talk about it in any of our huddles and they’re just tightening everything up putting the sc--ws to everyone and acting like everything is normal. Major gaslighting! Such a dysfunctional place…
Finally sharing my VSP offer. I LOVE Centene. I declined the offer.
Department: Classified
Tenure: 4 years
Severance benefit: $45k
Enhanced severance benefit: $10k
Severance benefit (Bonus): 10% paid in full.
Cobra Premium Subsidy: 1 year
Outplacement Assistance: 2 years
I declined. I love my job! What’d you get offered?
Any Jokes or encouragement anyone?
Does anybody have anything encouraging to say or any good jokes that are not related to the company? I'm tired of all this speculation and pointless updates about Centene. We are all aware by now of the VSP buyouts, potential layoffs, company-wide changes, and Medicaid updates. Constantly reading about this company is not good for our minds. Let's take a break and share some laughs!
Comment below.
Leadership On the Ropes!
...bobbin'n weavin'...shufflin' and scufflin', contemplatin'n rearrangin', jugglin' chainsaws'n spinnin' plates, crunchin' numbers'n playin' Tetris with org. charts, tryna make sense of their self-created nonsense...LOL!
They're really got THEIR work cut out for them now.
Besides the money involved, here's probably the next most crucial piece of the puzzle and why leadership is so concerned with "retaining employees due to this mess" during the whole VSP thing:
- "Since ACA, Medicaid, and MA are Federal/state regulated and implemented plans, cuts in staff can lead to CMS and state department of banking/insurance scrutiny on coverage and service."
They've got to deal with BIG LAW ENFORCEMENT breathing down their necks, which has the potential to cru$h them via a$tronomical fine$ and penaltie$, depending on the #s of soon-to-be-vacated job slots, due to so many people now wanting to head for the hills, ever since this VSP was offered. And that's not even factoring in the layoffs they're anticipating to follow soon thereafter. Looks like they cooked their own goose. LMAO!!!
Leadership is surely scrambling and in a collective panic, over how to deal with all of the moving parts. "We need MORE TIME!...This is TOO MUCH!"
Oh well "leadership", guess you should've planned better.
Why don't you have better time management skills? Should we put you all on a PIP?
That's what they pay you the big bucks for, right? Thought you were so smart, what happened? Why is this such a struggle for you now? Feeling pressure? Sorry, not sorry.
Lots of late nights now, where they're actually having to WORK for their big@zz $$$!
Hey "leadership":
Have fun untangling the rat king you all created with this VSP thing!
What are you even doing reading this board now, anyway?
Get back to WORK!
Earn your Keep, "BIG-WIGS"!
HAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!
ABS leaving
Email from carrie Milby just sent that long time system ABS will be gone in 2027. Doesnt say when just 2027. Funny they say this after the VSP window is closed. This is something that could have been a deciding factor for a lot of people who work on ABS for day to day work.
Vacation not earned yet
If we suspect that we will be RIFd can we use up our future vacation? Would it be deducted from our final pay or have to pay back?
I may have used up all of mine for a nice long trip earlier this year. LMAO definitely don’t realize we’d be here looking at VSP and RIFd.
Listen….
I know everyone is anxious and looking for updates. Honestly, nobody has the answers right now. We are all just speculating while we wait for VSP approvals and see who gets laid off.
At this point, it is a waiting game. Instead of stressing over what we cannot control, I encourage you to:
- Protect your energy: Please take care of your mental health.
- Explore options: Actively look for other jobs in the market.
- Get advice: Consult lawyers if you have specific legal questions.
Let’s support each other by being patient and taking things one day at a time.
New email sent VSP
They extended the deadline from last thursday to wed the 12th at 12pm CST...what kind of BS is going on...
Last week, we shared that team members could withdraw their application by contacting the VSP inbox. If you are interested in withdrawing your application, you may do so during the opt-out window from Monday, July 6, through Wednesday, July 8, at 12 p.m. CT.
3 weeks from today
Well since they changed the timeframe of the VSP acceptance process from the 15th to the 27th, what are people actual thoughts on the extended window now. Does it mean more people than expected accepted the VSP or not enough and they want to see what needs to be done in the "resturcturing" faze of the layoffs in August. Also I want to know to anyone who accepted the VSP if things for you on a daily basis going fwd with your team is or has changed before the 27th. I know a higher level of person will be conducting the approval process, but since the VSP list is done does any of this info will trickle down to your managers ...sups...ect. I just hope people dont start getting treated diff since they are accetoing the VSP. please share if anything diff is happening for you since the deadline has passed.. TY
Do you think the VSP dates change due to the many VSP they received?
Just thinking there is a delay due to having to go thousands of VSP applications.
Serious question about VSP. If you were offered a job, but had to start prior to Sept 1 or 4. Take it?
or take package. And also in a debate about even giving 2 weeks notice at this point when they want me out anyway.
And now we wait???
Initially, I was saying eff this... after 15 years - and they pull this stunt, let me take the money and run - but then I added up the taxes and considering that I have yet to get a single interview for ANYTHING... I decided to change my answer to decline the VSP... so now what? Hope I bought myself some time and hope I wont get sacked...at least not till I find something suitable. What a nightmare. Truly.
Anyone Told Directly by leadership they need to take VSP
There have been several in my department that were told indirectly that the need to take the VSP. People know way more than they were letting on.
Sick Time & PTO question
Does Centene payout sick time and PTO when you resign, Or just the PTO? I don’t think I’m going to wait on the VSP or see if I’m impacted by the layouts.
I don’t understand the idea that too many people took the VSP offer
Every applicant is subject to approval. So they can control the numbers regardless of if more or less people applied than anticipated. For them to change the notification date by that much, I think there is something more going on.
Telling your PL?
If you applied for the VSP did/are you telling your PL? I did not. If my PL asks I will tell them I did.
I wonder if my PL applied if they would tell the team?
“I won’t back down; no, I won’t back down” – Tom Petty if he was singing up for the VSP
The Eastern time zone deadline is less than two hours away, and things are getting incredibly real and emotional.
Despite persistent fear trying to convince me to change my mind with what time I have left, I know I am making the right choice by applying for the VSP.
I feel scared, uncertain, and anxious, but I am ready.
I pray for peace and provision for each of you. Whether you are staying or leaving, navigating this situation has not been easy, and unfortunately, we are far from over.
Make sure to use up all of your vacation and sick time, leave absolutely nothing on the table, and enjoy the long weekend.
The countdown continues….
I did not apply for the VSP. I hope it’s not a mistake for me. Best of luck to everyone! I hope everybody gets what they want.
Unemployment
I confirmed with someone high up that employees who accept the VSP will be listed as “voluntary quit” and not laid off. You should check with your state unemployment department to find out if you will qualify or not. As a part of the VSP, you also may be required to sign a document saying you forfeit unemployment by accepting the severance. I’d check with an employment lawyer though.
