My PL said the PLs will know on Friday who on their team were accepted into the VSP program. They said the emails will be coming out today! Side note: I have been praying for everyone to get the VSP benefit!

I've been at Centene a year and a half
I know VSP will be followed by layoffs, and I'm guessing it's going to happen within weeks. I'm wondering if it's true that the majority of those laid off in past rounds are people who've been with the company for years, or even decades?
Involuntary layoffs
Does anyone know anything about involuntary lay offs for those that didnt apply for VSP?
Good luck everyone
Good luck to everyone tomorrow who applied for vsp. If your in a state where pto/sick time wont get paid out...use as much as you can before you leave. Anyone who doesn't get approved im sorry hopefully you find another to leave. And everyone who didn't apply for vsp remember a restructuring is coming with in the next few weeks. And there might be more after that with this place who knows. All I can truly say is this place wont look the same this time next year. Whoever is left after all this still good luck!!
Super Excited!
Gonna check my email first thing!
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I mean how many more times are we ever going to get a VSP offer if you think about it?
Take your $ you so much deserve and file unemployment (and yes I am eligible I already checked), do some side gigs for fun or get another job and grow that $. Live your life being free of enslavement at a corporation where all you are are doing is making others filthy rich. Get involved with doing things 'you' love!
Counting down the hours now ⏰
Anyones PL make them submit a progress checkpoint in workday?
Friday my PL requested that we "acknowledge" their comments about our progress checkpoint. She only had 4 out of the 11 people in my team do it which makes me think we are the ones who applied to the VSP. She said we need to acknowledge ASAP in order to be "processed by the next department" like girl just tell us what the fu-k that means lol
Long Weekend
This weekend has been a roller coaster of emotions. One minute I feel confident that I made the right decision by signing the VSP, and the next I'm asking myself, "What have I done?"
Twenty years with one company... and this is how it ends. It's a strange feeling to close such a significant chapter of my life.
For those of you who also signed the VSP or are going through a major career transition, how are you feeling? I'd love to know I'm not alone in this.
Some Perspective on Executive Greed
While employees wait to find out if they’ll have a job when the VSP determinations settle, and the layoffs ensue, here’s what Centene’s top leadership has accumulated in company stock.
Executive Approx. Stock Value 2025 Compensation
Sarah London (CEO) ~$78.1M ~$21.6M
Drew Asher (CFO) ~$48.6M ~$10.3M
Chris Koster ~$23.1M ~$8.2M
Fred Eppinger ~$23.0M ~$0.6M (Board)
Ken Burdick ~$17.4M ~$7.4M
Susan Smith ~$13.7M ~$6.8M
Michael Carson ~$11.5M N/A
Tanya McNally ~$8.3M ~$5.8M
Katie Casso ~$7.2M ~$5.5M
Meanwhile, thousands of employees have spent months wondering whether VSP, layoffs, outsourcing, or another reorganization is coming for them.
We hear a lot about being “good stewards of taxpayer dollars.” We also hear that “when the business changes, we need to change with it.”
Fair enough. But stewardship shouldn’t only flow downhill.
If employees are expected to absorb the uncertainty, workload, and career disruption that come with those changes, it’s reasonable to ask whether leadership should share more of that burden too.
The numbers above aren’t opinions, rather they’re from Centene’s public SEC filings. The contrast between executive wealth and employee anxiety is what people are reacting to.
Last Weekend
This is the last weekend until 7/27 when everyone who accepted the VSP finds out their last day. Starting Monday, it's going to be a reckoning for managers and PLs.when they find out how much of the work force is decreasing. I'm getting on that lifeboat before the Titanic sinks.
Which email address
Will we get the email from VSP in our personal or company email address? I keep checking back and forth. They said we will be notified on or around 7/27 so I am hoping to get something today. Tired of these waiting games.
The math doesn't work
We're down 30 percent headcount and still expected to deliver the same output. With the VSP and probable subsequent involuntary layoffs, who knows how bad it'll get for those of us left behind. Can someone please tell leadership that people aren't infinite resources?
VSP
Finally stretch! I wish they would let us know already. This wait until Monday is giving me major anxiety vibes. If on the slim chance anyone gets their notification Friday, please let us all know please!
Support
What can those of us do that are feeling like we are being retaliated against for taking the VSP route. I do care about my job and I want to leave on good terms.
Amazed
I am just amazed at how people leaders and the uppers have applied for the VSP. Like what do they know that we don't?
VSP approval
Was told by HR/VSP line that no one has been sent an approved VSP package yet. How did some of you know you were approved when HR is saying no approved emails have been sent out?
Couldn't wait on them.
I submitted for the VSP. As things kept getting pushed back I started looking for work. New job wants me to start August 3rd. Still no word from Centene. Submitted my resignation yesterday. No severance but I am so ready to move forward. Best of luck to the rest of you.
Surprise! Your Leadership may be taking VSP!
I think the biggest surprise will be how many of the PL's everyone has been talking about on here are taking this themselves. I have gotten wind of names of people that have been approved and lots of VP's and Directors that have been around awhile are taking this as an opportunity to leave.
Something I had not considered.
Never in my life have I looked forward to a Monday…
I just want to know if I’ll be submitting my notice next week. it’s already drafted.
I’m not staying past September. I am DONE.
who else plans to resign if their VSP is denied? I know some people will be like, “oh that’s what they want you to do so they don’t have to pay you.” I really don’t care at this point.
it is everyone for themselves; I will not be sticking around for whatever headache is coming.
Who goes first RIF or VSP
I'm not sure who knows how some of these things work but the VSP gives the company the ability to plan a org flatten and restructure over time, that's the "Long Term" plan.
RIF is the big cut
So..... The order of things
Phase 1
String this along, a percentage have already and will just quit (voluntary attrition is best and cheap)
Then kick off the plan.
Step 1 - VSP notifications and dates are final
Step 2 - Month or so, after a period of time to give people that are not happy with their VSP to just quit on their own. (again voluntary attrition is cheap)
Step 3 - Some point around the month you'll see a sizable RIF to scoop out the undesirables that didn't take VSP.
Step 4 - Long departure dates, the workload will increase, metrics ill change, micro management will be the theme.
How many of you have been notified you’ve been approved for the VSP?
If i get rejected im gonna lose my sh-t
Quit with the surveys and let us know about the VSP
I don’t know about the others in this group but I believe they need to quit with the surveys and come on with the VSPs. Quit wasting our time so we can get on with our lives and figure out the next steps. Would these people want people ja--ing around about their jobs and wasting their time if it was them. He-l no. So come on with it and cut out the nonsense
VSP Question!
For those who mentioned their VSP was extended and allowed them to choose an exit date: which state are you located in? I applied but haven't received any updates or info on my application yet. I’m in California.
Numbers
Does anyone know the % of # of employees they wanted to reduce for the VSP Phase? Or altogether goal?
What is Mission Simplify?
Serious question because I’ve been on STD for a while and haven’t been updated on this. I’ve read so much on this forum and feel like I need to know what I’m going back to since no one on my team has reached out. I did get the first email about being eligible for the VSP but haven’t gotten any other communication for anything else.
Taking too long
I don't understand why it's taking so long. My VSP approval should be easy and with all the wonderful AI technologies that they now have you would think they would be able to weed me out by now.
I hope they've considered the mass vacation that's about to happen.
Assuming we get notified 7/27 and that most people's end date is 9/4, that only gives 5 weeks for everyone to use up vacation and personal time. They don't want us taking PTO within 2 weeks of separation, so all vacation has to be used by 8/21. I don't know about everyone else, but I've got 16 days of vacation/sick time to burn, and I'm not the only one in my department who has admitted to applying for the VSP. If we all get accepted with the default exit date, my team will be running at 40% capacity. It will be a good preview of the sh-t show that they are about to walk into.
,Anyone else in this stituation?
This whole VSP/looming layoff has got me stressed to the point where my anxiety has gotten to the point that I am now on prozac and still can't sleep. I have barely been able to function in my role and spend most of my time trying to look for other positions. I just hope I am approved for the VSP so I know I have an end date for this company. This is my third time going through this and I can't handle this anymore.
Place your bets!
Okay, folks. So what do y'all think is the over/under on the company changing the "new" VSP approval/denial date of the 27th to something another 2-3 weeks out?
I just have this bad feeling about it, and that it's going to happen by the end of this week. The email will start with the old go-to excuse of "we need more time to make strategic business decisions," blah blah blah.
Could I be wrong? Sure. But given their recent track record, I doubt it. Even though VSP folks have gotten their "choose your separation date" emails and the claim is that "you'll know if your role is affected by early August," such a change wouldn't shock me in the least.
VSP approval questions
If you received approval:
I. Personal or company email?
- Did it confirm severance package dollars?
- Were you given a specific separation date?
Thanks in advance
Has anyone gotten an email stating they've been accepted for the VSP?
It would help us anxious folks if people could share if they got an email stating they've been accepted and if you can mention what type of role you're in. It's gonna be a long two weeks....I fear that I will be rejected because I'm in case management :/
Internal Job Board
does anyone else find it interesting how as soon as the deadline passed for the VSP, new jobs are being posted?
part of the terms of applying for the VSP was not being able to apply for internal roles. if your application is approved, then you cannot go back and change your mind if you see an internal role you’re interested in.
halfway annoyed as there are three positions I’m interested in. I’ve been waiting for MONTHS for a growth opportunity. there seemed to be little to no opportunity with the “hiring freeze” and looming layoffs in the future. now all of the sudden, 50+ roles have been posted in the last week??
I guess I’ll just wait and see what happens.
CM Dept
Anyone in CM ever been put on coaching for "failing" a SOFT audit? I truly think mgmt is trying to get us to quit or fire us for "not meeting expectations" before VSP takes effect. Centene has truly turned out to be a grimy place. I will spend the rest of my days encouraging people to avoid working here & avoid signing up for their plans.
Anyone told the NEED to accept VSP?
what are the ways to deal with this if it hapened?
I want to assure everyone that Verizon is not the end
I took thr VSP in 2019. I used my severance to start my own business that is now thriving. It's very environmentally friendly and DEI. I found a huge plot of land in Mississippi and established a farm. We only use man and animal power so there's no pollution. In fact all my employees are required to live in on site housing and we produce our own food and clothing so there's no need for them to have cars. We're committed to supporting the black community. In fact, the vast majority of my workforce is black. Though we do have a small staff of non blacks that oversee operations from the offices that built in the big white house that came with the land.
Fu-k them for extending the notification date
This is psychological warfare extending the date two weeks. If anyone gets emails and could tell us the role you’re in and if you get approved, that would be helpful. This is beyond fu---d up. That place is fu--ing garbage.
Area's Being Notified of VSP Acceptance
Anyone willing to share what area they are in (keeping in mind this is all anonymous)? Clearly, not all of us are receiving information at the same time. I wonder why they're staggering the information that's going out to people who applied.
Email received
Just got an email asking what separation date I would choose. I am in a role that needs staggered separation dates.
