The original announcement was, Imperial Oil will lay off 900 staff from Calgary to reduce operating cost, and staff at the asset level will remain untouched. But, now I find out that they will layoff from Strathcona refinery too.
What happened? Did I miss understand the original announcement? Or, is it IOL management lying to us again?
Well well well. Thankfully everyone is ok but unfortunately no one will blink an eye over this. All this talk about the design teams being next on the chopping block might have some merit.
GM's Design Studio in California Is Site of a Massive Fire https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a69137455/general-motors-design-studio-pasadena-fire/
These studios are not setup to safety handle pre production or prototype batteries. They will forgo safety equipment in the areas due to visual esthetics. They will actively resist skilled handlers because they are usually hourly workers. One poster said it the other day that people in the design studios are arrogant entitled people. In this instance no one got seriously hurt but next time they might not be so lucky.
Well the Train Station looks nice, but is a money pit for taxpayers and Ford. There are supposed to be. 5,000 w2 employees working there today, nowhere near that.
With continuing structural cost savings, what is the predicted future of our Spring Campus?
Yesterday afternoon, facilities put a large stack of moving boxes, tape, and markers outside of every floor at Anchorage ATO. 3 weeks before layoffs start lol.
Good thing class isn't a spirit value
How was the RTO for those in the MN/DC office? Did you have monitors on the desk, was it clean, the cafeteria open, etc?

Not sure if New Brunswick will happen for Murray Hill Nokia. Why? Verizon got a new "American" CEO and Verizon's headquarter is in New Jersey.
New Brunswick won't be big enough for all those wireless labs, optical and fixed network labs, and research labs. And it's way too expensive for just four glass walls next to vibrating train tracks, congested area, with no auditorium, no offices, no free parking for customers, limited parking for employees, no cafeteria, traffic all day long, tiny lab floor plan, etc.
Time to get a head start looking for a building that's cheaper, better fitting for future needs and expansion if Nokia is serious about gaining big customers with Billions in revenues.
Found out Wednesday that office on Market Street which BNY has been in since it's Mellon days and even is still armed for the company is downsizing from 2 floors to one. I guess we will only stay open as long as the new lease lasts.
Yay /s
What’s the word on the street?
Kind of sus that they are moving servers from Melville to Ashburn this weekend?
Did anyone else have parking issues at the Houston office on Thursday? It was packed.
What is going on for construction over at BAT? Teams are moving there on Monday yet half of the building is still closed. Can someone shed some light on what is ACTUALLY going on?
Not sure why they are cramming everyone into a building that isn’t finished, yet departments at the AUR building were told to WFH for the next 3 weeks.
Anyone else who has been required to come in lately notice how nasty the work spaces have gotten? In building 2 the break room is filled with dishes covered in days old food and the fridge smells like mold.
Desks are all strewn with trash and none of the computer peripherals work.
Bathroom smells like a babies diaper.
My college dorm was cleaner than this, anyone have any idea if they laid off the cleaning staff too?
Our whole team is rto. Will the dress code be what it was when we were in the office pre covid? Many comments on here about the lack of janitors. How bad is it in the Minnetonka location? Are the restaurants still open?
Again, have you seen how bad our owed building look. The buildings are falling apart and JLL does what it wants.. Bees nests, weeds and trash everywhere. JLL barely talks to Oracle employees or takes any feedback. I thought they worked for Oracle. RS would never of let this happen. JLL has really made a mess and they do not care, it’s sad. We took pride in our buildings before.. Where has the pride gone. It’s all so exhausting.. Hoping it gets better..
You heard it here first. Don't get why people haven't already spilled it.
Facilities teams all over about to get gutted, engineers and techs will all get replaced with green badges. Lots of badge flipping around Christmas.
Good luck running a factory without a facility team.
Can anyone clarify the current situation and schedule for Imperial’s Sarnia research facilities? I had heard they were being shuttered and relocated to Texas, but more recently I’ve seen that fewer than 100 personnel may be affected, with changes phased in through 2028.
Does anyone have factual updates or confirmation on what’s actually happening?
More specifically, the DeRoyal facility in LaFollette, Tennessee, which produces all kinds of tools and instruments for use in healthcare settings, is closing down primary operations by the end of this month – with full shutdown by the end of 2025.

Yep. A $25M office renovation in round rock. Totally unnecessary while they’re laying off thousands of people.

But they want you back in they get tax breaks because of it. POS company.
Anyone ever received a meeting request from a space partner regarding their current seat assignment?
Lots of folks have heard rumors that the folks in the Wooten bldg are moving to the Forest Hills bldg. They have even gotten rid of their daytime cleaning crew. I thought they were revamping that bldg. what happened? They certainly haven’t done anything to the Forest Hills one. Slap some purple paint on a wall and call it a day. Will they revamp the Forest Hills bldg if we are all under one roof?
Oracle’s outsource of JLL to run REF|projects|EHS was a poor business move. The ones that are left, have to cleanup JLL’s mess. It’s been an exhausting road. It is actually costing Oracle more money as JLL up charges on everything. Our buildings are suffering. Upper Oracle management doesn’t want to hear the complaints. It’s work harder and be ok with no focal raise. My stomach hurts everyday, my boss rules with an iron fist and she has no idea what she is doing. My goal is to move on from Oracle. Stay healthy all.
Former Nike, now retired. I use the gyms, and I’m curious - there always seems to be plenty of parking available on the south lot (by Nolan Ryan/Mike Schmidt). Are those buildings less used than others on campus?
Email went out today outlining the company's plans to finally eliminate the 90s cubes on RR5 3rd floor, starting with 3W on August 29.
The good news is that employees will get to WFH during reconstruction.
The bad news is that the desk count on 3W will almost double in the same amount of space.
JF talked abt RTO to counter China's 996 culture... 9am to 9pm; 6 days/ week. Meanwhile, Ford land's facilities people are busy harrasing employees by pasting "clean this space" notes on non-assigned cubes. Hello ---- who is supposed to do it... space is not assigned to anyone. They seem to enjoy their new found policing authority !! Ford Land is responsible for lack of proper RTO planning. Rest rooms are mess. Garbage bins removed to reduce the workload. Cleaning personnel seen chit chatting near coffee machines most of the day. Ford Land is a mis-managed organizatioin. So much for Customer Focus and work ethics. They need to administer an employee survey dedicated for facilities related work-experience. Instead, Ford Land leaders come to townhalls Q&A, and brag about their great RTO execution.
