More layoffs incoming at Latigo Petroleum

“I think what [oil producers] are seeing right now, especially with the flooding going on by OPEC+, means you’re not going to see much more activity than what we’re doing right now. The production side seems to be staying busy, but if you’re in the drilling side, there’s been a lot of layoffs going on there,” described Kirk Edwards, President of Latigo Petroleum.

If you’re let go, consider yourself lucky

It’s 100% confirmed that Associates in the US and India are being let go this week. Which day depends on your team and location. Those left behind will wish they were let go. The confusion, toxicity, and expected hours you’ll be working is going to get even worse. Much much worse.

Remember that this is all being done to reduce costs and try to raise the stock price. Dont blame yourself. Take the money and run.

Heads up: NVWs are next

If you’re still classified as a virtual worker, you’re in the crosshairs. Notices are starting to go out that NVWs will be required to “follow the work” and RTO full-time in Dallas, Atlanta, or New Jersey depending on org. My source says the plan is to eliminate all remaining virtual roles before year-end with any remaining to move and RTO by June 2026 or terminate.

Don’t assume you’re safe, they’ve already pushed out some of the best and most experienced people here. Titles and “essential” status won’t save anyone. This is your warning since the company won’t give you one.

Global Workforce Strategy Manager

ExxonMobil has a person who specifically works with functions to help identify opportunity areas (GBC, MSP) and develop execution plan. So there you have it, a chief leading a team whose sole job is to find opportunities to ship out your jobs. The company is looking out for its interest and so should we.

If the rumors are correct, Verizon’s 'bold' new direction may apparently include mass layoffs

https://www.androidauthority.com/verizon-shutting-down-stores-3613951/

  • Rumors suggest Verizon will announce layoffs and store closures around November 20, though details remain unconfirmed.

  • The company reportedly plans to shut down less-profitable stores and cut staff across remaining locations, while expanding AI automation to fill the gaps.

  • It’s unclear if other big changes will be announced around this time, though it’s possible that there’s more to this coming shift than just layoffs.

Staff layoffs due to budget shortfall

On 10/23/25 approximately 5% of Marymount’s staff were laid off. Reduced federal grants, reduced international students, and reduced graduate enrollment were cited. Anecdotal evidence suggests the actual percentage of cut staff was higher. Staff across all support areas, including finance, the library, research, HR and student support were all eliminated to help close the budget.

For those that have been through this before - how do they typically decide who to lay off?

I have never been through a massive layoff before. For those that have been through this before - is there specific criteria that they typically use? Is it always the lowest performers? Do they target people that have been with the company a long time and are making a higher salary? I am not new to my department, but they moved me to a different team within my department with the first wave of VSP last year (which I wasn't happy about). While I am definitely not considered a low performer, I am however the least experienced on my team with the particular work that we do. As we get closer to the November 20th date, I am starting to really worry that I will be selected.

In a league of our own

.. along with Boeing, GE and other dinosaurs who thought they were cleverer than anyone else and then dropped off a cliff. In my 30 years with the company. We are the next Boeing; too big to fail and then we fall.

I have never ever seen us treat people so badly, treat HC10 like $hit on the bottom of your show an believe India will solve every thing but all they do is sc--w it up and leave the business unit or project to clean it up. If the investors could see the failure, they would be shocked but we always put polish on it.

We as shareholders need to come after the MC when this goes badly and impacts the most important people in the company - the shareholders. For all the investors, you need to watch out for your investment as it tanks

Sudden layoffs at Pottstown Hospital

Major cuts were announced at Tower Health on Friday and hundreds are now out of a job. The Health Network says the layoffs are due to what it calls financial challenges facing healthcare providers. Tower says expenses are increasing and they need to streamline services.

Woke up fast after the layoff

Being laid off blindsided me. As it seems, I was a little bit arrogant and far too comfortable. I guess this sm--k in the face is what I needed to reframe my perspective and to make sure I invested my time and energy in a way to still do a good job but not make work my entire personality. I plan to take that lesson with me to my next job.

Layoffs are inevitable

Ok someone somewhere knows exactly what is coming in the next 4-6 weeks, if I am getting a layoff then some time to apply to other better companies would be very welcome! Someone has walked by a conference room and seen the closure lists or the new Org charts so come on spill the beans? Orlando got a big bunch of the frontline gone and by my calculations we need about 2500 more to go to hit the number we all keep hearing about!

Layoffs are coming

Layoffs are coming because that’s what a short sided company does when the stock is down so Ed can’t retire. All the needless marketing VPs won’t be impacted. It will be those that management considers expendable, those that give up their nights and weekends, those that actually do the work.

Extreme will never rise above mediocrity with its bottom of the barrel management team. No one wants to hire the CTO who has been looking for a new gig on the sly. The CMO was fired after 9 months at her previous gig. Ed. Extreme peaked a long time ago and just rides the industry tide and picks up the scraps.

No we don’t play in AI data center because we laid off that team the last go around. That’s not just missing the boat - that’s bad management.

Put People First?

The first value listed on the vaunted Solventum mission slide is Put People First. I don't get it. How can senior leadership say with a straight face that they "put people first" when they so obviously do not? They could change it to "Put People at the VP Level or Above First and Everyone Else Second" and that would more accurately capture it. But why lie about it? Why not be honest and say, "Put Stock Price First"? (Bryan Hanson couldn't figure out stock price gains at Zimmer, but we'll set that aside for a second.) Why say you're "transparent" when you're not? Why send a company-wide email announcing a 4-year "Transform for the Future Initiative" six minutes before announcing that initiative on a quarterly earnings call? So many questions. Here's an idea, which I know no CEO will ever implement. What if, instead of creating Transform for the Future Initiatives, hiring more SVPs, and laying off more peons to cut costs and "reallocate resources," what if a CEO did something real and radical? What if a CEO said something like this: "I was going to lay off 2,000 more employees this year, but then I said no. We put people first here, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I'm cutting my salary, bonus, and stock incentive compensation package this year down to the average Solventum employee levels, and all my direct reports will do the same. Any new hires at the VP level or above in the next two years will NOT get signing bonuses. For example, we won't give singing bonuses like the one we gave to Tammy Gomez that is approximately equivalent to 30 years of the average worker's salary. Also, no more guaranteed severance packages that exceed one year of salary. In other words, we will actually implement the value we hold most dear, and we will PUT PEOPLE FIRST!" Okay, I know this will never happen. I live on the planet earth. But imagine if it did. Imagine how loyal of a following a CEO would get from his or her tens of thousands of employees. Imagine how little it would matter financially to that CEO and his direct reports, all of whom are already rich. He could even ratchet their salaries right back up again after "the year of impoverishment" and no one would care. And in the meantime, he would have gained a cultlike following of people ready to take a bullet for him. I'd argue he would get even richer over time. And most importantly, for one tiny flash of an instant of his career, he would be putting people first. I dare you, Bryan.

Pending Layoffs

Rumors are swirling about the pending layoffs in store. I'm hoping that the cuts will not involve the customer service areas of our organization. If anything, we should be cutting the fat at the top. How many Market Presidents are there in the retail channel and what exact value do they bring? Our guy comes to Wisconsin, makes a big deal of his dinner plans and that's about all. As I said before - too much fat at the top.
