Stack rankings requested + Meets Expectations and below being pushed down

Message from my M5 NA squash friend is that they will be pushing lower rankings to all in reviews and employees will be stack ranked. There will be reviews across each GBUs. M5 suspects another round of cuts coming. For those with manager hate here - cuts will also be coming in for M level. The initial step per M5 was getting those with few reports to IC in FY 26. Many long term managers are understandably struggling in IC roles so cutting them on performance criteria in FY 27 will create no legal issues. Exact timeline not clear at the moment per M5 and he said he is prepping to be let go and hopes he at least lasts untill his RSUs/options vest. The RSU/options vest at M5 NA are 500K-1M - WOW - I don't think it was a lie. My Senior Developer RSU is 7.5 percent of that like WTF.

Today’s manager would not make the cut

Most managers and up at Verizon would not make the cut in today’s landscape. A lot of them were simply at the right place at the right time. They would buckle under today’s pressure, scrutiny, and expectations. Many got there because they knew someone, checked a DEI box, metrics were easier, opportunities were abundant, and the market practically carried people upward.

Today you have to fight for every sale, every customer, every opportunity, while dealing with shrinking compensation, unrealistic expectations from people who had it easier, and bootlickers with Stockholm syndrome who are just happy to finally be a baby shark in the corporate tank. Different era entirely. A lot of the people preaching “adaptability” never actually had to survive in the environment they created.

WBD have eaten Stankey's lunch!

Yes, that's right. Stankey & Stephensen paid top dollar to acquire Warner Media, then sell it to Zaslov @ WBD for pennies on the dollar, then WBD is acquired for more than at&t purchase price. You can't make this stuff up, Stankey is the laughing stock of the business world. AT&T total debt is at $136B, that's billion with a B!

PIP

I am put on a PIP. The second line manager is according to the HR message the evaluator. First line manager is supposed to support.
First line manager creates hard to achieves goals.
The normal thing would be that the second line manager gets his own opinion. However 1st says he is in charge and I have not directly reached out to 2nd line.

How others have experienced it.

NV is super toxic

Anyone else getting tired of the circus in NV?

Every day there’s a new priority, a new direction, a new “this is the most important thing we need to focus on.” What was said one day will conveniently forgotten next day as if it happened by next day… By tomorrow it’ll be something else. At this point I don’t think the issue is execution. The issue is nobody can keep up with commercial leadership changing its mind every 24 hrs on some projects…

What really gets me though is the gap between what gets reported up from middle management and what’s actually happening. Somehow unfinished work becomes “complete,” confusion becomes “alignment,” and chaos becomes “momentum.” If you only listened to leadership updates, you’d think everything was running perfectly. How can people trust the managers who lie blatantly in front of you (knowing you know the truth)
The culture in marketing has taken a nosedive too. Feels like we’ve replaced professional leadership with a bunch of guys trying to out-macho each other. Lots of swagger. Lots of talking. Very little listening. Questions are treated like challenges. Different opinions get dismissed. The loudest person in the room wins.

People aren’t afraid of hard work. They’re tired of the constant spin, ego, and mixed messages.

The sad part is people have stopped speaking up. When employees stop asking questions and stop bringing ideas, that’s not alignment. That’s people checking out

Maybe leadership sees it and doesn’t care. Maybe they don’t see it at all… sometimes they are the problem. Neither answer is particularly reassuring.….

Bloomberg Talks Dan Interview Total Embarrassment

Listen to the Bloomberg Talks interview with Dan. They literally ask him what changes will average customer see that will make an impact and Dan literally couldn’t answer. Totally embarrassing- it’s so CLEAR he has NO PLAN for any real changes. Just AI, AI, AI. Literally no plan at all!!!

H1B and L1 Scam is Out

Bloomberg says:
Tata consulting services has brought 6500 L1 visas to USA from India.
L1 is for 'Managers'. Many were not managers at all l, just a cheap labor with fake titles used to bypass immigration and take Local jobs. Also submitted about 25k H1B applications.
Surprisingly most of these visa holders are in Ford, Stellantis and GM

Greenfield College Balances Budget, Three Management Roles Cut

Greenfield Community College balanced its FY27 budget. This effort significantly reduced projected layoffs. Three non-unit management positions were eliminated. No union-represented staff positions were cut. The college also left some vacant positions unfilled.

Why Are Lies Necessary?

Why does management say presence reports aren’t really scrutinized anymore? Bull, if anything they are used even more.
Why do you claim we have flexibility? Bull, we need approval in advance for Caregiver & WFH if we’re sick- that’s babysitting, not flexibility.
We care about employee well-being? Bull, why do you go into hiding every month to create next surplus list. Just cut what you need and let the rest of us exhale.

Scott Pelley Out !!

Bilton&Weiss have just sealed their fate ! They have indeed dismantled an American Insitution. Ratings will drop further. Ad dollars even more. Look what happened when clowns like these came in over the past few years at NBC, CNN, and ABC. Their take a bat to the system failed and now CBS is under the same repeat errors. Good riddence to Weiss&Bilton.

Signed,

Good Night & Good Luck.
The Ghost of ERM.

TCS brought in 6,500 L-1A “managers” to America from India

Tata Consultancy CEO brought in 6,500 L-1A “managers” to America from India.

Bloomberg says: many weren’t managers at all, just cheaper labor with fake titles used to bypass H-1B rules and fees.

What's happening with accountability?

I've witnessed several managers openly talk about protecting themselves whenever deadlines slip or projects run into trouble. Meetings usually turn into long discussions about who caused the issue rather than how to solve it. Very few people seem willing to admit mistakes or take responsibility. It's exhausting to work in such an environment.

Layoff talk has changed the whole workplace

I have been through several restructurings before in other companies and here, but this latest situation feels different. Management keeps mentioning budget pressure and possible cuts during meetings, even when the topic has nothing to do with staffing. It has now started to feel less like planning and more like a way to keep people from questioning decisions and keeping us in our lane.

You'd think that after all these cuts, we'd be left with its strongest performers

Sadly, that's far from what happened here. The people who knew how to play politics, who knew how to hide during the bad times, they're the ones who mostly survived. Most of the people who actually knew how to lead, who had real skills and real experience, they're gone. What we've got left is the worst management team I've ever worked under and most of the rest of us who do the work looking for an exit.

Where is the innovation

The cure is not in cutting costs. The cure is to innovate its way out of the current
predicament. Fiserv seems to be missing that point. Sure you can increase EPS by buying back stock and laying off employees, but thats not going to grow top line revenue. No one is impressed with management’s plans, and the stock price is reflecting that.

VSP Fallout

Are all areas facing issues with complete chaos in their depts because they lost the good leadership (and valuable associates) they had with VSP? My area is crumbling and the management we have been left with is relatively new with not enough knowledge to properly manage. I’m not sure her skillset has even included managing people before. It’s become a free-for-all with some associates logging on barely 4 hours a day doing pretty much nothing. We were swept under a new director who also had no experience with our departments responsibilities so he exists but has been 100% absent. We were already understaffed before VSP but the past 6 months we are sinking fast. Is this just my area’s reality or is this being felt across the company ?

Fear-based environment

Does the new cohort of managers know that fear-based management is not the only one in existence, and that it certainly isn't the one to result in highest productivity? I swear, the more somebody yells at me, the slower I do my job. Intentionally. These "leaders" need some lessons in people skills.

Oracle Cerner: Potential Acquirers of Oracle Health

https://www.healthcare.digital/single-post/oracle-cerner-potential-acquirers-of-oracle-health

"A Private Equity consortium led by a firm like Thoma Bravo or Francisco Partners is the most probable successor. This structure satisfies several competing requirements: it provides Oracle with an immediate cash infusion to fund its GPU clusters (satisfying the liquidity crisis), it bypasses the most severe antitrust hurdles associated with a Microsoft or Amazon acquisition and it allows for a "neutral" platform that could potentially stabilize the customer base."

Conclusions: Sell off Oracle Heath, ORCL needs the cash ! New CFO is the Grim Reaper !

Clarification on PIP Process

I submitted a few names for KOFS, and my manager emailed me saying he didn’t approve the names I chose and that I needed to replace them with the names he wanted. During the PDS review session, he kept emphasizing the “improvement” sections. Even when six KOFS said I communicated effectively, he focused on the one person who said otherwise. Bottom line: I feel like I’m being targeted for a PIP. I’ve read posts where people mentioned coaching, training, and scorecards, but I’m not clear on how the process actually works. Is it just you and your manager or other people get also involved?

Can someone explain what really happens? Is it just between you and your manager, or do other people get involved in the process as well?

Can any managers write anymore?

Honestly, are there any other teams that have management that just regurgitates whatever Claude spits out at them? It’s really hard to take anyone seriously when they don’t even do their own writing, problem solving and communication. It’s obviously a balance, but I literally don’t have any trust left for reading anything anymore.
