Whatever It Takes: Inside the eBay Scandal

Has anyone heard about the whole eBay harassment/stalking case against Ina and David Steiner? I’m honestly surprised we don’t already have a documentary over stuff from here, especially considering the automotive crossover. The story is completely insane. Executives and leadership allegedly sending creepy packages, surveillance, threats, and harassment over criticism in a newsletter.

I also learned that former eBay CEO Devin Wenig was elected to the board of General Motors in 2018 and remained there even after the stalking scandal became public. Feels like the kind of bizarre corporate story you would expect out of Silicon Valley or Oakland startup culture, not something involving a Fortune 500 company.

Are PIP Results Really Predetermined?

Literally can’t sleep at night. I joined XOM last March and didnt have the MAC one, so it’s my first ranking experience. From what I’m seeing in posts here and hearing in the office, people seem surprised by being PIPed and say the outcomes are predetermined. Is that actually how it works? Do most people experience the same thing?

Member Protection or Leader Protection?

Why do I have to talk to multitudes of people and teams across Member Protection and Risk to update my control? Why does every change go through “review” by people who don’t have anything to do with my process? Why does it take me longer to educate 383, 829 people I’m required to talk to about a change I need than it takes for me to make the change and update the control? I have a risk partner why can’t they make the change like they do everywhere else in the Bank? Are we protecting the members or are we creating made up roles to make an executive feel good? What happened to simplifying and streamlining? How much money is spent on salaries for every change and how is that justified when there are many real, impactful changes that money can be spent on instead?
