Good news from our favorite President on H-1B visas

President Donald Trump's administration on Monday released a proposed regulation to codify an unprecedented fee of more than $100,000 on new H-1B visas for highly skilled foreign workers that has been blocked by the courts.

The fee, first temporarily imposed by Trump last year, dramatically raises the cost of visas that are heavily relied on in the tech, education and research sectors.

A federal judge in June ‌ruled that the fee was illegal and blocked the Trump administration from collecting it.

A Boston-based appeals court is reviewing that decision while a different court considers whether a judge properly rejected a challenge to the fee by a major business group.

Trump's temporary fee increase expires in September, one year after it was issued.

The proposed rule by the Department of Homeland Security, posted in the Federal Register on Monday, would make a fee of $103,265 permanent.

It could be finalized by the end of the year.

US Immigration Policy Tightens for Skilled Workers

New US immigration policies are creating significant challenges for Indian professionals. USCIS guidance now allows for petition rejections without prior requests for evidence. Additionally, a proposed rule aims to eliminate the 60-day grace period for H-1B visa holders after job loss. These changes could lead to more immediate departures for affected workers. Experts are observing increased interest in alternative long-term visa options.

Visa cutting over 300 Bay Area jobs for AI | Visa will axe 320 employees on Oct. 1

Visa cutting over 300 Bay Area jobs for AI

++++Was this part of the cost reduction from last week (July 27, 2026) OR there are more to come in October 2026=++++++

https://www.kron4.com/news/technology-ai/visa-cutting-over-300-bay-area-jobs-for-ai/amp/

(KRON) — New California state filings show Visa will axe 320 employees on Oct. 1 at its Foster City office. The local cuts represent just over 12% of last weeks sweeping 2,600 layoffs first reported by Bloomberg.

According to a memo it reviewed, most of those layoffs were in the firm’s technology and product operations divisions.

Visa Cuts Local Jobs Amid Global Workforce Reduction

Visa is implementing layoffs affecting 70 employees at its Bellevue office this fall. These job cuts are part of a larger worldwide reduction of approximately 2,600 positions. The affected roles span various levels, including directors, lead engineers, and senior employees. This decision aligns with Visa's focus on efficiency and future growth, influenced by advancements in artificial intelligence. The company aims to reinvest in high-potential opportunities by evolving its operational strategies.

Favoritism & immigration abuses

Recently I noticed a lot of guy's spouse are joining fis at lower salary replacing local folks. If the employee is on l1 visa then the spouse must be in l2 visa and per my knowledge the corporate companies including fis generally don't hire l2 but it's not happening recently at fis.

It's a huge SCAM!!

Can anyone guide me what's the official channel of raising this concern?

Layoff Criteria

Got this from someone who was laid off. Decision was made based on:

1) retention cost (those who have not been promoted for a long time in the same position, or those close to retirement age)
2) performance reviews from last 2 years (NS = chopping block)
3) last in first out (new hires)

Make the tough choices

Layoffs will continue to target citizens. Offshoring will continue to happen to India. Then those same people will be brought back in L1b in 4-5 years back to USA. Make tough choices once you open your own business and hire locally. Change needs to start at a grassroots level, vote for policies which are towards tougher immigration policies. 20 years down, US cities will be worse than Toronto. It is in our hands now.

H1B renewals policy change.

Per changes to renewal of H1B visas, the administration has changed the policy.
H1B work visas will not have 1.5 years automatic extension, rather the visa holders need to go back to their country.

Use this situation in your favor. If FIS is not giving you increment or treating you badly, leave and find a new job.

Why doesn't Fidelity Investments get in trouble for H1B Visa Abuse?

There must be serious violations of laws involving the H1B Visa abuse that takes place with Fidelity. They also practice segregation by keeping these H1B Visas away from all the non H1B Visa employees. It never felt good, it always felt illegal. There's obviously only 1 reason why they would do this, and it's obviously not talent / qualifications. It's all about the Benjamins. Does anyone know how to file complaints about these obvious violations? I am afraid to speak up at work, because I don't want Fidelity to Retaliate against me. Retaliation is unfortunately a serious concern.

BTC Sales to BMT Electrical

They’re pulling folks straight out of sales teams in India and dropping them into maintenance and engineering gigs on site?
Latest one: Girl with 7 years in BTC sales just landed an electrical engineer role in BMT. And the announcements are full of these examples.
I’m genuinely disgusted and disappointed. When did “fit the role” stop mattering for jobs that keep operations safe and running?

This is pure abuse of L1/L2 visa. Someone should report this

Visa takeover is real!!

Lost my Job to an H1B visa candidate.
My grandfather and my dad worked here and I tried to continue the legacy..
Sadly got let go and asked to train an H1B. Now my team is full of H1B and H4 through LL4.
During his training, He confessed he didn't have experience and somehow he managed the interview.
Wow!!

Stop H1B, H4 and OPT visas

My team is Full of H1B and H4 visas upto LL5 and they pull their own and most of them don't even qualify.
I have seen many qualified locals were let go just to replaced by visas. How does this even fair? How can we stop this?

H1B Salaries & H4 Changes - Upcoming

H1B and other immigrant hiring salaries are to be revised again and proposal to stop spouse work visa's( H4 visa holders) are in progress. This might give some relief to economy in tough market conditions.

When H1b visa cost more chances are more for employers to hire US students, Citizens and Nationals.

STOP Hiring Foreign Nationals for SMALL Chunks/Chores and Support only High Talented Hires.

Heartless and Targeted Layoffs in CIT

Layoffs in Corporate Information Technology Visa executives should be ashamed of how they handled these layoffs. Just weeks after celebrating record earnings and profits, they sat behind scripted talking points and treated people like disposable line items in a revolving door operation. While bringing in the largest intern groups in the matter of a week. There was no humanity, no accountability, and no meaningful acknowledgment of the impact on employees and families.

What’s even more concerning is the false narrative being pushed that AI will somehow absorb the workload of the people they eliminated. That simply is not reality. Visa has not implemented mature, effective AI capabilities capable of replacing the operational knowledge, leadership, and technical expertise that walked out the door. The result will be the same pattern seen in many corporations: fewer people doing double the work while executives protect margins and shareholders applaud temporary cost cuts.

What makes this even worse is the culture that remains behind. Fear-based leadership, outdated management practices, and forced “NS/NS” (Needs Strengthening) labels used to create paper trails and justify targeted exits. It’s an old-school corporate playbook disguised as performance management. Simply put…Bad Bosses.

The remaining employees will now carry significantly heavier workloads while operating under executives driven by ego, hierarchy, and optics rather than modern leadership principles. Instead of building psychologically safe, high-performing teams, the environment rewards politics, pressure, and survival mode.

Companies talk endlessly about innovation, AI Transformation, Psychological Saftey yet many leaders still manage people like it’s 1998.
