No to Relocation
Heard from 2 independent sources (i.e. Supervisor and above) now that the number of people not opting to relocate to Edmonton is much higher than what Management anticipated. It will be interesting to see how they handle this!!
IMO.TO @ $141
Hope this is not, “Short term gain, at the price of long term gain.”
Staffing Committee meet last week
Does anyone know how the selection committee proceedings went for higher CLs last week? Are positions changing much?
Imperial Oil Stock at $139 CAD
I worked for IOL for close to 20 years, and I hardly ever saw the stock price touch $50 CAD. It was a bad idea to invest in IOL, so sold all my IOL stocks in RRSP. Bad decision!! But who knew this will happen!!
Any Statistics on how many have left since the big announcement
Hi, I work almost 100% from home now. So, very little interaction with folks in the QP office. Does any one know anyone who was let go since the big announcement? I haven’t heard of anyone getting fired or quitting in my close circle YET
IMO hits all time high in Canadian dollars
Looks like the shareholders are OK with Imperial Oil. I guess from a shareholder perspective, the company is doing OK. Employees don’t want it to be like this too. After all, our pensions are tied to the company, and some of us will still get their... — read more

Career advice.
I am at company less than 5 years. In engineering. I am in scope. I have been applying for jobs, an offer is in works. It’s 30% lower than what i am making right now. It’s not in Oil and Gas. Should i take it or ride it out?
Estimate of how many said NO on mobility survey

Inside Imperial
Mega props to the guy that posted the Jimmy Fallon thumbs down gif to the JW announcement on the Facebookesque IOL homepage.

Market doesn’t like move to Edmonton
Stock market didn’t like today’s earnings, despite record upstream performance. Because a move to Edmonton, and its crazy write offs, which makes no business sense. Could have easily right sized the corp and stayed in Calgary.

Where did my job go??
Here is the location of my job: https://jobs.exxonmobil.com/search/?q=Engineer&locationsearch=India As an engineer working in Canada in Okl & Gas for 25+ years, where can I work now?? No need to answer my question. I already found it.

Severance
Since the “no” group will be laid off first, is it possible the severance pot could severely be depleted by them, because the group may be larger than originally anticipated by IOL? I feel like I'm playing Squid game.
Why nobody will sue.
Even if you are right or lowballed on severance. Nobody is going to sue despite tough talk. A lawsuit with Imperial will be filled with legal costs as they drag things out every step od the way. They will ignore your lawyer, file things late... — read more
