All in on AI Chaos
Morale is at all time low, teams are divided, some with connections travel to WDF and Palo Alto for All in on AI workshops and the rest become mere spectators of what’s next to come without any stake in decisions.
Joule for Work rebranding of Joule Studio was a big flop in the 2 demo sessions, not fit for Sapphire launch, buggy, slow and complicated like a typical SAP product. SAP has mastered the art of making simple things complicated and buying new companies to keep the revenue going.
This house of cards will fall soon and all the old investments will go bust from wdf oldies.
Quantum Will Supercharge Medicine. IBM’s Milestone Proves the Future Is Near.
Was AK correct that the quantum age is nigh?

As investors await a quantum revolution, researchers are already delivering the first tremors.Look
no further than the latest study from International Business Machines,
conducted alongside Riken and Cleveland Clinic. Scientists linked IBM quantum systems
to two of the world’s most powerful supercomputers: Fugaku at Riken and
Miyabi-G, operated by the University of Tokyo and the University of
Tsukuba.The end
result was a protein complex spanning more than 12,000 atoms. While
highly technical, the demonstration has clear applications in dr-g
discovery and medicine, potentially delivering the transformation that
quantum enthusiasts have long promised.“They’re
the largest known molecules to be simulated thus far with quantum
computing,” Jerry Chow, IBM’s chief technology officer of
quantum-centric computing, said ahead of the announcement. He
is describing what IBM and Cleveland Clinic define as “biologically
meaningful molecules.” The protein simulated in this case is called
trypsin, a heavyweight in the world of biology. Without it, the body
would struggle to perform one of its most basic functions: breaking down
proteins into the building blocks it needs to survive.A lot of quantum research
has centered on this type of work, which has clear applications in dr-g
development. However, investors have been eager for results that prove
quantum computers are useful for something other than lab-scale
demonstrations.“The
hook here is that we want to go to a world where we have much better
therapeutics and things that make all of our lives better,” Chow
explained. “Fundamentally core to that is understanding how molecules
behave, how molecules interact with things such as water. In many ways,
this is the largest demonstration to date.”Kenneth
Merz, the lead author of the study, agrees. “I always go to the dr-g
discovery angle,” Merz said. “We’re developing methods to discover dr-gs
to improve human health. But there’s also this concept of divide and
conquer.”Merz, a
staff scientist at Cleveland Clinic, leads a lab dedicated to building
computational tools that apply theoretical math to biological research.
The latest experiment shows how existing hardware can be paired with
quantum machines to solve problems that today’s computers cannot handle
alone, he said.“You
take a very big problem and break it into small pieces that are able to
run on current-generation hardware, and then stitch it together to get
the global answer,” Merz explained. The team stopped short of claiming quantum advantage, a milestone many investors are watching closely.Quantum
advantage refers to a system’s ability to outperform classical
computers at a range of tasks, doing so more efficiently, accurately,
and inexpensively. While often viewed as the true tipping point for the
technology, focusing solely on this milestone risks overlooking the
incremental progress made along the way.Chow
emphasized that any claim of quantum advantage must be validated
against established, rigorous testing frameworks. The scientific
community isn’t there yet, and to date, there is no consensus whether or
not true advantage has been achieved.“What
we’re seeing is this groundswell of pushing the envelope of what can be
done,” Chow continued. “We’re using these machines and these
capabilities to look in these areas where we know classical methods will
struggle.”He views
the latest study as part of a larger puzzle. “It’s not a singular moment
in time for quantum advantage,” Chow said. “But we’re certainly in this
phase where we’re absolutely using these machines to do real exciting
work.”
700 jobs gone
Erased due to AI. Although I call bullsh-t. It's not AI. They just want to get rid of as many of us as they can and they're using the latest available excuse. AI creates more work than it saves. I know, I've been dealing with its mistakes for a while now. If AI is really the reason, then this place will go under sooner than anybody thinks.
Toptal Forecasts Remote Tech Roles Expanding Despite Cuts
Toptal predicts growth in remote tech roles. These jobs demand extensive prior experience. This trend happens amidst broad technology job cuts. More than 150,000 technology positions were cut by April. AI integration increases demand for expert workers.

Fiserv looks stable as a company but unstable as an employer
The Q1 2026 results strengthen the case that leadership will keep pushing productivity, automation, AI, severance, consolidation and expense control. The company is not in existential danger based on results but the numbers are weak enough that employees should assume continued restructuring risk. I wouldn't interpret this as a reason to panic yet.
Coinbase Reduces Employee Count, Cites Market, AI
Coinbase announced it will cut approximately 700 jobs. This represents about 14% of its global workforce. The company cites crypto market volatility and cost reduction as reasons. It also aims to reposition the business for the artificial intelligence era. These restructuring efforts are expected to incur $50 million to $60 million in charges.

Concerning new job posted - AI Engineer for FP&A
A new job has been posted, they are looking to hire someone to develop AI to take processes, procedures, analysis, etc out of the hands of current workers and into the bowels of AI. The worst part is that the job description includes making the AI in compliance with audit standards and SOX public standards. All while following the rules of controls and separation of duties? How can this be taken seriously? Trusting that data is properly handled, accounting is done up to high standards, and that our financial statements are accurate in the hands of newly developed AI? More layoffs coming to FP&A if this job gets filled? Whoever takes this job will be a yes-man and completely wreck our financial accuracy.
SAP to track AI adoption
I was told by my manager that SAP is launching a global AI adoption program and will track the usage of LLMs and other AI features on SAP products. They plan to coincide the launch with Sapphire so there will also be a big buzz about it. I bluntly asked if this is going to be used to determine one's performance and my manager said yes. Apparently, we are all supposed to use AI as much as possible in our day to day work and improve efficiency and productivity by doing more work in less time. Our area is deciding to add an area level performance goal that everyone contributes to but we are also asked to include AI in our other goals.
I really don't get it. Yes, I find AI somewhat useful in my work especially if I am researching something. But NO it is not gamechanging to my work. I feel so disappointed by this move that I plan to only use AI but not get work done because no one cares about work anymore and all they care about AI adoption. I feel like we are training our replacements. If AI is useful, why does management need to force everyone to use it?
Half of our management can't even use AI because they are too old school and because they only use German in emails and chats and conversations and AI is somewhat useless in German. Is this also happening in other areas now?
Coinbase Reduces Workforce, Citing AI Efficiency Gains
Coinbase is reducing its workforce by 14%. CEO Brian Armstrong shared the news on X. He cited a need for greater company efficiency. Armstrong also noted AI's impact on changing work processes. Engineers now use AI to complete tasks in days that previously took weeks.

The Fall of Rome
Huge operation center quietly getting set up in the Philippines. Layoffs every 2 months through 2027. Poland to have massive layoffs. Berwyn Pennsylvania getting gutted. India given increased role they can’t handle. Senior Management denies all and plays d-mb with the mid level managers. Mangers in London, Germany, and Singapore making all the decisions now. This is no longer an American company. Offshore, offshore, offshore. AI, AI, AI - which has proven to be a failure so far. PA is a particular mess, with virtually no competent leaders left. No leaders of people, just senior managers who have no idea of what actually occurs in their own office and couldn’t identify half the people they see on the way to the bathroom. 12-14 hour days are the norm and expected. Run far, far away from this company, unless you are filipino. Then you have a future. Or maybe if you want to do client service. They’ll need to hire more there to explain to all the clients why Rome is burning and the service has become dogshit. Side note, they’ll do a terrible job explaining because they have no idea what is going on. just mouthpieces…. My advice, get out now, especially if you are in the US or Poland. The founders of SS are rolling in their graves at what Uncle Ron and Clair Williams have done to the place.

I don't get the AI efficiency hype
Anyone who's actually used AI knows it's not replacing humans. Some highly specialized, deterministic models can enhance the work, that's all. Most of the time, it's just a convenient excuse to offshore or cut roles.

More cuts at Shopify
This time it’s revenue operations and customer support. We all know this is tied to AI, and it’s ridiculous how little anyone in charge actually seems to care about customers. AI has already proven to be pretty awful when it comes to customer support across the board. You can’t scroll through Twitter or any other platform without seeing people asking how to reach a real person at one company or another. Welcome to your future, Shopify customers.

The funniest part about training AI?
My manager is still constantly breathing down my neck all the time. If I need to be under constant pressure and control, maybe I'm not exactly fit to train that wretched, hallucinating AI.
Impact of AI in your own team?
Many of the conversations here focus on RTO, offshoring and site closures. Personally, I think those issues are small compared with what the firm is contemplating with AI adoption — but there’s hardly any discussion about it in this forum.
What have you noticed in your own team? Are you seeing “digital employees” doing meaningful work? Have vacancies been closed with AI cited as a reason? Have contractors or staff been let go with AI mentioned as a factor?
I’ve heard this is already happening in the engineering organisation, with the “fisherman lady” setting rather ambitious targets

My Current Thinking...
Salary and benefits are likely the biggest drivers of these cuts, people talk tech and AI but I am not sure if these are primary drivers... Anyway we (and others) may use opaque AI tools to hit cost-cutting targets, which can overlook performance, tenure, and so needed knowledge. High earners (even strong managers) can be cut simply because they just cost more.
Not sure how much we can change here but we can be ready. Polish your resume and stay alert. Leadership answers to shareholders not us, and layoffs are often the fastest way to cut costs when stock performance drops...
I know most of you are already aware, so I am preaching to the choir.

International Business Machines Corp. is deepening its bet on the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park in Chicago, with plans to add 750 jobs over the next five years.
The positions will be focused artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cybersecurity and data science, according to a joint statement Wednesday from the company and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. IBM, which will get $19 million from a state tax-credit program, said it would also establish the FutureNow Chicago center at the tech hub.
The plans bolster Pritzker’s efforts to attract more jobs and business projects to the state, especially in advanced technologies. The quantum park, which was announced in July 2024 and broke ground last September, got a jump start from an initial $1 billion investment by Palo Alto, California-based PsiQuantum Corp. The facility will replace a closed US Steel plant on Chicago’s South Side.
“IBM’s investment in Illinois is a powerful vote of confidence in our state’s growing technology and quantum ecosystem and the world-class workforce that powers it,” Pritzker said in the statement.
The company said in late 2024 that it would establish a national algorithm center for quantum computing at the Chicago development, with partners including the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The state provided a $25 million grant for that project.

What is the Humana Controversy?
Humana is facing significant controversies, most notably a class-action lawsuit alleging the use of an AI tool ("nH Predict") to wrongfully deny, limit, or terminate post-acute care coverage for Medicare Advantage patients.
Other issues include federal lawsuits over Medicare billing, data breaches, and a 2025 court loss regarding star ratings that risked billions in payments.
Key Humana Controversies and Lawsuits
AI Coverage Denials (nH Predict):
—A lawsuit alleges Humana uses the "nH Predict" algorithm, developed by naviHealth, to override physicians' recommendations and prematurely cut off rehabilitation or nursing facility stays for elderly patients. The suit claims these, which are "rigid and unrealistic predictions for recovery," are used to maximize profits.
—Medicare Advantage Fraud Allegations: Humana has faced multiple lawsuits under the False Claims Act. In 2024, they were involved in a $90 million settlement related to claims of overbilling the government for Medicare Part D prescriptions.
—Star Ratings Loss (2025): A Texas judge upheld a decision by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to downgrade Humana’s 2024 star ratings for certain plans. This loss threatens billions of dollars in revenue for the company.
—Illegal Kickback Allegations: Lawsuits have alleged that Humana paid illegal kickbacks to insurance brokers, such as SelectQuote, to steer consumers into their Medicare Advantage plans between 2016 and 2021.
—Data Breaches and Security: Humana has reported incidents where unauthorized parties attempted to access member accounts, and they have faced class action suits regarding the protection of sensitive patient information, including a 2026 incident.
—False Statements (OIG Violations): Humana previously agreed to pay over $411,000 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by making false claims/statements regarding "meaningful use" payments in their electronic health records.
These legal challenges have created volatility for the company's stock, particularly surrounding the profitability and quality of its Medicare Advantage business, which is the primary source of its revenue.
The Main Moment Humana Began to go Downhill
In my opinion, that start of Humana shifting from being a great place to work to being not so great a place to work are the following three factors entering the scene of the corporation.
—DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion)
—Cloud & AI (Artificial Intelligence)
—Outsourcing (H1B, Overseas, Contracting)
How much of your workload is now being done by AI
Just curious how game changing AI has been in various areas of the business. Is it giving greater capability or is it reducing the load?
SAP talks about AI layoffs and China does the opposite
Chinese Courts Rule Companies Cannot Fire Workers Simply to Replace Them With AI
https://www.caixinglobal.com/2026-04-30/chinese-courts-rule-companies-cannot-fire-workers-simply-to-replace-them-with-ai-102439602.html
I think this is great and would force companies to work on long-term solutions to improve their products instead of short term solutions like layoffs which only increase share price to give the executive board more bonuses.
There was a good economics paper on this phenomenon recently:
https://arxiv.org/abs/2603.20617
The TL;DR of this is: companies are financially incentivized to automate as much as they can and it is very hard to change this. But when one company automates and lays off workers, that affects all other companies (since the workers no longer have wages to buy goods and services). If all companies are automating and laying people off, everyone ultimately makes less money.
They propose as the solution what is basically a tax on layoffs: if you lay people off, and those people don't get re-absorbed into the job market at equivalent or better-paying jobs, then you gotta pay the difference in wages as a tax. The money from that tax goes back to the workers (they propose partially for income replacement and partially for retraining).
From what I see, Germany and other vassal states are just copying the US as usual and trying to fire as many employees as possible to show their "AI efficiency". So I expect that SAP won't change their course unless there is intervention from the EU or the state to save the economy when the AI bubble bursts.
Risk People Unite
For those being laid off in risk, you know this bank is still in disarray. Risk a huge mess.
Take the opportunity to escalate what you have seen to the OCC. Detail the events.
Don’t focus on DF telling everyone to “play with AI in your jobs” with minimal to no governance. Report the big stuff. Ops Risk/RCSA. Compliance.
The Future
The future of renewals relies on the stickiness of enterprise software. The gamble is that customers will tolerate bot-only support and sting renewal price hikes because the cost of migrating away is too high.
The company is moving to a No Human Interaction model where AI agents (utilizing the Aviator framework) serve as the primary interface. These bots handle everything from initial outreach to basic tier negotiation. The goal is to transition customers to an automated, self-service portal where renewals are processed as take it or leave it transactions.
This removes human negotiation but also eliminates the firewall that previously prevented customer churn. This automation is the technical justification for the reported 15–20% RIF planned for early F27. The company is stripping out its overhead cost to inflate short-term profitability.
REAL cause of the stock rally
what we are witnessing is the closest thing to an ENRON fiasco !!
CEO and board colluded to artificially bump the stock up using the 20 BILLION $ buy back....money we actually can't earn anymore from the market ....and selling AI hype !!!
compute will NOT take off....auto is low margin cr-p....nothing will replace apple business....and what do they do ? they spend every last dime on bumping the stock...
nice more buying those 125k call options as well...they literally are bumping the stock and making money off the shorts squeeze !!!
i wish they put more time in actually building a better company that capable employees would wanna work for long term !
