Kudos to our IT leadership.
It takes real talent to invest millions in new software and end up with something less capable than what we already had. I can’t help but feel for the business leaders who are funding these projects and expecting better results.

I interned at Centene last summer into the fall which was my last semester of university. Feels like the entire world is unstable. I don't qualify for the VSP, but feeling so so anxious and depressed about the layoffs coming in August. I just started my career. However, I've been working to the bone for this company so far (I work in IT). I know most of you guys on this website are older and have much greater responsibilities (kids, mortgage, etc), but I can't help but feel like things are doomed.

Heard last week that centralization for IT analysts will begin soon for all medicaid markets.

In the name of all that is holy, why is IT Leadership allocating scarce resources (headcount and salary & benefits) to fund this ITBM team? As you might guess this team is part of Strategy & Services department. The people in these positions do not have any real IT experience so you have to hold their hand on every discussion of anything IT related. Look at the salary range of these positions.....REALLY? FOR REAL?

IT Business Management Finance Leader: The expected compensation range for this position is $221,591 - $270,834, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.

IT Finance Business Analyst:
The expected compensation range for this position is $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.

A certain guy who used to work for you guys ("RR") from what we understand brought about this firing of competent people (especially in Tech) and offshoring to Accenture. That is currently now happening at his next stop - T Rowe Price in Baltimore. A competent IT shop is being dismantled - Laid off, but to get severance you have to agree to train the people replacing you who have little if any experience, initiative, etc. Can anyone let us know how that went for you guys? Do you know if our guy "RR" left on his own or was forced out after this turned out to be a disaster? Thank you. Training is not going well, yet the keys are expected to be handed over soon.

IT leadership stated in meetings it has goals to cut IT staff by roughly 50% and reduce processors by about 75% by year-end.

Cronyism rules! Very bad leadership except in IT. Then UHG bought them and allowed them to be over two established groups and they tanked those groups. This company brought a massive breach, which is public information, they also brought a “l@wsuit” over their claims system. The breach has caused so many layoffs yet their leaders keep their jobs because they have the ability to pick who gets laid of. Toxic group!

I wanted to share my experience working within the Belk IT department. I have been out of this position for some time, but from what I’ve learned, it hasn't changed and it has somehow gotten even worse. While store employees face their own set of challenges, the backend IT support structure is completely dysfunctional and treats its tech workers with an absolute lack of respect.

To start, the geographical territory assigned to a single IT field worker is massive and brutal, often matching the exact same coverage area as a Regional Vice President (RVP). Despite this massive responsibility, the compensation is insulting. The pay is so far below industry standards that it rivals fast-food wages. Because of the vast territory, you are forced to travel anywhere from 30 minutes to over 3 hours just to get to a location. This makes the role completely unsustainable for anyone with a family or anyone who values a healthy work-life balance.

Once you actually arrive at a store, the execution is a joke. Nine times out of ten, a field tech is forced to escalate an issue because our on-site capabilities are severely restricted. You are then left waiting for hours just to get a response from a clearly apathetic corporate support team or an offshore team that is incredibly difficult and tedious to communicate with. Furthermore, Belk’s Point of Sale (POS) systems are completely unreliable, and actual application support is virtually non-existent. As a result, the standard "fix" is to completely re-image the machine, forcing the tech to sit around waiting hours for the process to complete just so the store can finally use the register again. And don't even try to complain or share what you've noticed with your manager. They know what's up and will never care. Ever.

There is so much more dysfunction I could detail, but I want the store employees to know this. When you see an IT person walk into your building, understand that we are miserable too. The only motivation corporate provides is an empty "thank you" from someone who never even shows up to the Teams meetings. The managers shares it with us as if we are impressed by that, and as if verbal appreciation pays the bills during a time of massive inflation and a harsh economy. The only real thanks I needed was the final good riddance to this joke of a workplace.

Wait until employees find out that IT was directed to remotely scan ALL laptop computers, looking for any software that could be used to appear the user is active online.

Typically used to simulate the mouse is in use, a comprehensive report has been shared with senior management and is now under review for what repercussions will be taken.

Irregardless if there is a legitimate reason for it, i.e attending a marathon online meeting or conducting a presentation and you don’t want your laptop to go to sleep, all those on the report are expected to be in for a big surprise.

I’m tired of it and I’m not alone. The dysfunction across the company has become pervasive. It’s especially pronounced in TGS and IT, largely due to heavy reliance on outsourcing in critical areas. But the issue isn’t isolated. Any function that has been outsourced is struggling.

As a result, teams are left trying to deliver projects and meet goals without the resources or support needed to do so effectively. What remains is a workforce that is burned out, disengaged, and increasingly unable to keep up. Many of the most experienced and capable people have already moved on, and those who remain often feel stretched thin or are simply holding on until better opportunities arise.

There’s also a clear divide between those who are driving results and those who are not contributing meaningful value. The fact that some of the latter are highly compensated only adds to the growing frustration. The strain and resentment are becoming impossible to ignore.

What a disaster! Laying off smart people and moving roles offshore for cheaper labor. No accountability. It's a circus! A CLUSTER----. BAD MANAGEMENT. They're coming for you next. Get your resumes out.

Indiana University's Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering eliminated six positions. The dean announced this restructuring in an email. I thought I saw a post last week where someone said IT Services aren't included in IRIF but RH just gone after a fanfare of announcing his new role globally and he was instrumental in the delivery of ITaaS. Is this a shadow redundancy or something more and IT Services are actually in the pool?

I heard we are switching back to Microsoft 365 since Google is not streamlined, adds more steps, and prevents simple tasks. Has anyone heard this too?

His first real big mis step was the 5G mm bandwidth we purchased in in May 2017. This kind of data idle, as ww got itvyhrough purchase of another company.

He hired Infosys in 2018 to outsource the IT, which was huge. He laid off 2500 IT workers, and rumor spread that some of them intentionally created system issues to plague the new outsourced IT. Back end systems have been cr-p ever since, and it is not spreading to the network..and customers are taking notice. That IT model has failed tremendously.

What really did in Verizon was about 1 month later when the Swedish Meatball, Hans Vestberg, became CEO. There was a litany of red flags, such as the fact he was let go of his prior CEO position for misappropriation of funds. And then there is that fact that he and his coalition of leaders had veey little understanding of American culture.

His huge failing was again the 5G spectrum he purchased in 2021. We had prime 4G market leverage, but we now owned the worst spectrum that 5G any company would purchase. You literally need fiber optic everywhere to use it, which defeats the point of "wireless". He tried roleversge that in yhe same manner as the 4G, but it was cr-p quality. We soon became the #3 carrier due to lack of network quality and price.

And now cometh Dan the man. His job is clean up. Seen it a thousand times. Jobs will be outsourced, and he claims AI will change things...but it won't. He is there ri gutvyhe company. Offices will also be outsourced, not just front line. All the brick and mortor will disappear, and then the next thing yiu know...

Frontier did a round of lay-offs today. Not sure if company wide or just IT. A lot of senior leadership leaving. Off the books by June 5th.
