Does anyone know when managers get notified that their direct reports will get displaced due to location strategy? I've heard that it's the Friday before a Tuesday layoff for direct managers. Also curious when second level managers know.

November through February is going to be challenging, unless our current administration stabilizes the market soon.

Because of simple decisions like driving a 20 year old car. And working on it myself. And investing in index funds. So simple. The future is never guaranteed. One of the directors in EACX mentioned that they have been asked to share a list of potential employees who are not critical to the team and can be let go if required. Not sure if it is bank wide or just some orgs.

Yang Ming (America) Corp. is closing its Houston customer service center at 3250 Briarpark Drive, Suite 201, laying off 118 employees starting November 30, 2025, with additional layoffs through March 15, 2026, per a Texas Workforce Commission WARN letter released October 8, 2025, and while the company did not provide a reason, it said the layoffs are permanent, operations at the site will cease, and some employees may be offered relocation to its New Jersey facility, with Yang Ming America headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.

Carnegie Mellon University announced Wednesday it is laying off 75 software engineering staff members due to changes in federal priorities.

The 75 positions make up about 10% of the Software Engineering Institute’s staff.

SEI is a federally funded research center focusing on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. It has worked with the U.S. Department of Defense since 1984, according to its website.

Kaiser Permanente is laying off hundreds of workers across California, further deepening tensions with its union of 31,000 nurses that is preparing a five-day strike beginning next week.

In an Oct. 6 letter filed with the state’s Employment Development Department, Kaiser’s Human Resources Director Christine Neubauer said that the Oakland-based health care provider began notifying 216 workers of their layoffs starting Sept. 17.

Leadership says they embrace AI for optimization but AI will not create their content.

Augusta Sportswear, also called Momentec Brands, will close its Sidney distribution center.
Closure date is January 30, 2026.

Acrisure is right now cutting 400+ accounting jobs. Good jobs, well paid (relatively) - this is all gone - last day will be in Q1 2026... they are saying it's AI, workflows, tech advancements, etc... it's about 2% of the totalk workforce but I think it'll be more than this. After 3 weeks, the separation agreement is finally done. Dell is covering 2 months of COBRA insurance (they cut us off a full week BEFORE he was laid off).

How long did it take for y'all to get health insurance reinstated? We're in OKC and I've been without medication for a month now. It's way too expensive to pay out of pocket (thousands). I'm afraid it'll be too late to use it by the time they reinstate & backdate it.

My husband signed his severance paperwork yesterday (after waiting for 3 weeks for them to get it to him) and they agreed to cover 2 months of COBRA.

How long did it take for them to reinstate the coverage after you signed the paperwork? They canceled ours a full week BEFORE he was laid off. (They claim they are "looking into it") But I haven't been able to refill medications ($$$$$) or go to appointments for almost a month now. I fear they will reinstate it too late for us to be able to use it - with the backdating.

Can somebody name one thing that's better now than it was before layoffs? I'll wait.

After nearly twenty years here, I thought I had some stability. Turns out, I was just another name on a spreadsheet. I worked holidays, covered for others, and still got cut a few years short of retirement. It’s a rough reminder that dedication means nothing once the numbers stop adding up. I’m not bitter, just tired of pretending that loyalty still counts for something.

Company is gearing up for more layoffs, this time for Stamford right around performance reviews next year.

If you haven’t already noticed the gates in the garage are now closed and they open at 4pm. They do this on purpose to make you scan your badge when you leave.
Leadership is also keeping tabs of your time (not everyone has been asked to do this).

So! Take the train if you can to work. Everyone scans in when they first enter. When you leave the turnstiles open automatically and they cannot get a timestamp when you left, only if you drive in and leave before 4pm.

We don’t have Columbus Day off, company is greedy with your time and should not be tracking you like this especially with all these reorgs happening.

I'm incredibly frustrated. I got the news last Wed, but my "official" last day is the 15th and they said that's when I'll receive the termination letter...Very annoyed because my paycheck this week was half of what it should have been, since I was immediately locked out of the system and couldn't submit a timecard last week. Really frustrating when you have daycare, bills, and life to pay for! Has anyone gone through HR and gotten their time in so pay isn't disrupted? I should be on the books paid for up until 10/15. I'm just loathing having to jump through all the hoops to actually speak to someone in HR...getting a hold of an actual person is such a PITA
