No more hiring in Phoenix, Denver, or Austin
Schwab is getting ready to announce (either to PLs or company-wide) that they will no longer hire in these locations. If you have been checking the job postings lately you probably already noticed this.
After requiring many of us to return to the office for “collaboration” and “growth,” this decision creates a serious issue. Employees in these offices may have little to no path for advancement.
I spoke with a hiring manager about an open role. Even though I sit just a few seats away in the same office he would not have been allowed to hire me or anyone else in my office. He would have had to hire someone in another state.
So much for in office collaboration!
Even employees working remotely due to medical accommodations, if they report into one of these offices, would not be eligible for those roles.
One again, terrible decisions made by senior leadership making huge impacts on our livelihood.
Headcount Freeze
Any likelihood of Headcount Freeze being lifted any time soon. this is regarding a job on the IT side. Thank you.
What about hiring
Is it just us, or is the hiring ban only 'optional' for certain teams? Anyone heard when they’re planning to unblock reqs? It's a nightmare now. We can't replace leavers
Hiring unfreeze?
Does anyone know or heard any rumors when the Hiring Freeze will be lifted? Or will it ever be lifted for Support Center?
No new hires anywhere?
My department has been frozen for months. Nobody in, no backfills. Is this happening across the board, or are some groups still hiring?
Withdrawal of New Grad Offers
hey everyone, I’m a new grad here and I got a job offer from KPMG to start in September but I’m hearing rumors that they might push start dates back and possibly even withdrawal offers. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before? Thanks a lot.
Possible layoffs in Lowell
The city of Lowell is preparing for a worst-case scenario for its upcoming budget season, advising its department heads to be “conservative” with their fiscal 2027 budget requests and warning of hiring freezes and personnel reductions.

Is TIAA still on a hiring freeze?
Or all job postings internal for now?
What's going on with no hiring?
We have key positions that need to be backfilled that have been open for over a year now. Are we not hiring at all or is this just our manager not giving a damn to fight for it?
Hiring freeze?
Just heard that SIBG went into a hiring freeze in January. Widespread or just SIBG?
Facebook owner Meta to lay off 13% of its workforce
Facebook's umbrella company Meta is laying off 11,000 workers, or about 13 percent of its workforce. The company also plans to cut discretionary spending, and it will extend its hiring freeze throughout the next quarter.

Global risk management
Has anyone heard about the hiring freeze in global risk management?
Why cut here and hire there?
We're losing jobs in one place, but they're adding plenty new jobs in other places. Wouldn't a simple hiring freeze accomplish the same cost savings without destroying morale and losing experienced people?
Jan 2026 Hiring Freeze?
Is hiring for roles at the corporate office on some sort of a freeze? I was supposed to be a finalist for a position but am now being told the process is being paused. Any insight is greatly appreciated
BREC rolls out new initiative with immediate layoffs and hiring freeze
The Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge (BREC) announced several operational changes on Friday, Jan. 16, including the immediate layoff of about 10% of its workforce. In a news release, BREC said the move is part of a broader effort to become a leaner and more efficient organization, calling it a comprehensive initiative aimed at making bold, strategic changes.

Large scale January layoffs unlikely
There was a post months back that was probably right. 2026 is about hiring freezes and attrition with the big layoff for 2027 which will hit later this year. So, rest assured regardless of your situation the company does not care about you. It’s a machine. Stop living in the past, those days are long gone.
Jobs in New Jersey: Recent Layoffs and what could be Ahead
Construction, tech, and some retail and hospitality jobs were down from last year.
Tech and corporate services weakened nationwide, and New Jersey wasn’t immune, with hiring freezes and staff cuts becoming more common.Retail and logistics bounced around as shoppers changed habits and supply-chain costs ate into margins.

VBG Jobs Being Backfilled
The cuts in VBG definitely had to be performance based. I’ve been looking up VBG jobs that have been posted in Jan in various states on Verizon careers website and there are several openings for client executives, senior account manager/account executive roles and the retail smb positions. Some of the cities I selected recently had people riffed in that area/territory last month and now the job is open and there was NOT additional headcount last quarter so the q4 hiring freeze is not the reason the job is open now. essentially they just axed some people to get rid of them and hopefully bring on better talent in Q1. At least that’s how it appears to me, what do you folks think? 🤷♂️
No hiring freeze, some layoffs soon
There is no hiring freeze, recruiters are slow to process applications with horrible new database. I interviewed for 2 different positions and each job had a different recruiter. I told each that I applied to one position but my information disappeared. I thought I did something wrong so I did it again and it stuck. But it happened again on my second application with the other job. Both recruiters said that it is a common occurrence. They didn’t bash the system or say anything negative but it’s obvious they’re pi---d off.
KTD - New job postings have stopped seems layoff is near
I see that new job postings in KTD have stopped and there might be a hiring freeze in place which is a strong signal for layoffs in KTD!
Hiring freeze
Why aren't we backfilling any positions? I'm talking about desperately needed people for us to be able to function normally. Is there a hiring freeze I don't know about?
Big companies aren’t making plans to hire in 2026: ‘Everybody’s afraid for their jobs’

What are they thinking?
After so many rounds of cuts, good people leaving on their own, and a hiring freeze for ages, who is even left to lay off? The teams are already skeletal, and morale is nonexistent, to put it mildly. The next logical step shouldn't be just more layoffs, but questioning if the company can even function with the people who remain.
Merry Christmas
Don’t expect a new job opening until April or later. No be one is hiring.
Snubbed Req
The new person who was to start after the shutdown was told the position has been filled but I was told the req was canceled. Is there a hiring freeze?
Hiring Freeze on DM and up - insight?
We heard this week that there is a hiring freeze on field leaders - DM and up. It seems obviously we’re about to see a big realignment and layoffs. Wondering what everyone is hearing?
Is there a hiring freeze announced internal?
A job i applied to I had heard good feedback however was told due to the acquisition the role is on hold and detail on how long this could be? Is this normal here? Seems like larger internal things are not being shared
Why are we hiring?
Why isn't there a hiring freeze after (and before) such huge layoffs? I can see hundreds of openings, some added last week. How does that make sense?
Has the Alpharetta office been affected?
I’m looking to get hired at Verizon as a developer in Alpharetta, Ga.
Have layoffs affected the Alpharetta location?
Is there a hiring freeze now in place?
Do I still have a chance of getting hired?
Hiring freeze?
Is there a hiring freeze right now? I applied for two roles and radio silence but I meet most if not all of the requirements and what I do is pretty specific, so I can’t imagine it just being that much competition.
Does your org have a hiring/promotion freeze?
Is there a companywide hiring and promotion freeze in the US, or just JVB’s?
If so, how long have you been in your same position?
No hires during November and December
Just a note that there are very few jobs out there to apply for in November and December. Then in January things are still slow in the hiring process at a large company if they are hiring at all. Most will not be hiring.
Dell Debt
The debt that Dell has will not allow the company to hire new employees.
Do canceled reqs get taken?
We are already short people with several reqs open and one stopped during the hiring freeze before interviews could be done. If they need to cut from my team do these count as a headcount?
Here is the plan
We can easily save money by freezing hiring, freezing travel, and penny pinching spending.
Oh wait... But we did that already.
But why are projects delayed???!!
I'm the VP of inflated egos and I don't understand! I hired two 3rd world contractors to take the place of that principle engineer. According to my advanced calculations... 2/1, we should have twice the productivity!
Well I've got a solution...
I'll create a new corporate team of VP's, give it a cool name, and our meetings will save money!
Winning. Too much winning!
Ghost Jobs?
The careers page shows 2,000+ openings. I tossed in apps for a few Manager/Director roles and… crickets. What’s going on—are you all even active? It feels eerily quiet over there.
