Pepsi Layoffs: Here’s the Biggest Clue That Job Cuts Are Coming as PepsiCo Looks to ‘Right-Size’ Workforce

PepsiCo is reportedly preparing for job cuts, with layoffs potentially announced as soon as this week. A key indicator is the company's instruction for employees in some major North American offices, including its headquarters, to work from home. These potential changes follow a memorandum from PepsiCo outlining initiatives to enhance shareholder value, focusing on organic revenue growth, productivity savings, and improved operating margins. These strategic shifts are widely interpreted as a response to activist investor Elliott Investment Management's demands for cost reduction and operational efficiencies. While no official layoffs have been announced, PepsiCo executives have used the term "right-sizing the workforce," which often refers to job eliminations.

All 1,600 Kentucky battery plant employees laid off as Ford pivots away from EV business

Ford plans to hire 2,100 employees for the new iteration of the Glendale plant, and a company spokesperson said Monday that all those laid off will have the "opportunity to apply" for those new jobs.

Waiver approved by FRA for less physical track inspections

It is with a heavy heart that I post the waiver approval pushed by the AAR....It is unfortunate that those who currently sit in charge of official agencies make it no less than a perfect storm for the railroads to get what they want. I do not yet know the current status for the waivers for signal inspections, but they are sure to get approved as well.

Geometry cars are already being set aside, and some track inspectors are to be impacted slowly until %'s are satisfied.

Subscription Department getting noticed for lack of subscribers

And this is not going to help. Apparently, these people are not aware that many police departments don’t even respond to vehicle thefts, you are told to come into the police department to make a report. Sounds like desperation to appear like there is a subscription product there, The News didn’t even put it behind the paywall:

Predictions 2026

Well, 2025 is almost over. It's time to revisit the 2025 predictions and make new ones for 2026.

I don't really know which rule the predictions thread violated, but the original 2025 Predictions thread disappeared after being up for a really long time. Not sure what happened there. Someone partially resurrected it here: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1k38aeyac

So, weigh in on which predictions were right, and make some new predictions for 2026.
