ANOTHER office relocation to cut headcount

AT&T’s latest office shuffle in San Antonio is fueling speculation about the future of its downtown Dallas headquarters.

The telecommunications giant confirmed it will vacate its office at 1010 N. St. Mary’s Street in San Antonio and relocate to the city’s West Side, according to the San Antonio Business Journal article published September 29.

The move will leave about 400,000 square feet vacant in the city’s downtown office market, which has already been weakened by recent corporate exits.

Sources familiar with the transaction told the San Antonio Business Journal that AT&T signed a deal last week to occupy more than 100,000 square feet at The Reserve at Westover Hills, a suburban complex that had been largely empty since 2021.

Boca News Update

Mutual of America Life Insurance Co. has sold its Boca Raton office campus for a combined $23.75 million, paving the way for a major redevelopment.

The 11.7-acre property at 1150 NW Broken Sound Parkway was purchased in two transactions—$16.875 million by Broken Sound Boca LLC and $6.875 million by MBAL Commercial Owner LLC. The buyers are a partnership that includes Ram Real Estate, Butters Construction & Development, and Altman, part of BBX Capital Corp.

Under the redevelopment plan, Ram Realty will oversee the multifamily component, while Butters will take the lead on the industrial portion. The campus currently features a 76,761-square-foot office building occupied by Mutual of America, which has until July 2026 to relocate before the structure is demolished.

Approvals are already in place for a 287-unit apartment community with a seven-story parking garage offering 481 spaces. The residential plan includes 29 affordable units and 15 workforce units. The industrial section is slated for 63,624 square feet of small-bay warehouse and office space across two two-story buildings, along with 136 parking spaces (1)

The sales proceeds will help cover severance packages for the upcoming layoffs and restructuring, and help the company turn its first profit in 8 yrs.

Sales down bad at northpark

Now because Plano is going to close. They threw out a fig leaf. They want to keep flagship open..Taxpayers already bailed it out.

Hope the city council doesn't give more money to this debt ridden company . While legitimate things could occur...I know Nordstrom would never do such and I support them. Even if their stuff is tame. Bloomingdales is looking at this market as ripe besides panned store in Frisco.

El Segundo Office to Close

I heard from our AVP and SVP today that all of our department’s roles in El Segundo are being made redundant and backfilled to Dallas. So it’s either pack up your bags and join the herd in Downtown Dallas or leave.

Exactly how bad is it down there in Dallas. I hear the commute, parking, and desks are an issue. How does a Fortune 50 company have such major real estate problems?

No agua an El Segundo = No RTO

Even the plumbing gods hate RTO. El Segundo office closed today due to no running water. Hopefully the rain expected this weekend will make for a nice long, slow repair process. Doubt it but it would be nice. Great to be to work without distractions and a pointless commute even if it’s only for a day or two.

Is there talk of shutting down the Ravinia office in Atlanta?

I have this feeling I’m not long for my current position anymore if that happens. I work under John Blanchards org and we just had a layoff in August. I think I’m being paranoid but since Srini is taking over soon… I just don’t know. The market is brutal now and I’m job hugging like a motherf----rI’m not ready to leave yet.

Has any C-Level exec ever been to the Atlanta office?
