What's with the silence?

Can somebody please explain why they're being so cagy with information? What would it hurt to provide us with some clarity? What do they gain by keeping us in the dark, other than reducing productivity and further eroding morale that has already hit rock bottom?

Let’s put the trolls to rest SD & AD’s reply please

So the day has come and gone. And I’m sure the goal post will also be moved. Everyone’s wear Monday morning. The senior directors will know. Then commenters I know it’s in the afternoon or close of business. Well, the time is coming to pass. Tomorrow apparently we were supposed to see mass resignation emails. I’m sure that goal plus will also be moved. Can any senior director confirm if they’ve gotten notice?

Still thinking about EH's index card at the Nike Team Meeting

I want to say that I like and trust EH and think he's what we need. All of that. But comms handing him a card that says the chat was being mean was strange in a way that I think illustrates something. I remember seeing a lot of shock and surprise in the chat, but no one was expressing anything inappropriate I don't think. So them giving him a card and getting him to cry is just odd. What did that card tell him we were even saying?

I think it speaks to a sense across Nike that we can't process things or have human responses to big news. If Comms didn't want shocked emojis in the chat, they should have just sent an email. I'm not saying we're in the "we don't tolerate dissent" zone (yet), but that is the vibe Comms seems to be sending, intentionally or not. If I could tell EH/Comms one thing it would be: you can be shocked at somewhat shocking news and still believe in our mission. We've still got so much of our comeback journey left. It's going to be important for leadership not to confuse being a person with not caring about this place.

It’s such a fiasco it’s comical

We had to find out from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal that 15,000 of us are losing our jobs this week. But from our own leadership team, we are getting radio silence. Instead, we have to come to this board in order to get any information. It’s tragic. Where is the communication?

This weeks schedule

Monday Morning- 5V staff calls with 6V calls will happen, news will be shared. No delegates can join.

Monday Morning - your weekly staff calls (6V ADs with 6V sr managers and 7 band and lower), these will be cancelled.

The slack or just calendar invite being cancelled will be your only communication until Thursday with your manager.

Monday- Wednesday … will be a ghost town between people impacted and their leaders. You won’t hear from leadership until you’re notified.

Thursday- people notified and leaders get back to normal.

March 2026 rinse and repeat

The suspense is ki-ling me. Just let us know already

There is more information about this mass layoff on every news website. Reporting to work as well as all internal websites is like crickets, no information - like nothing is happening. Next time please let the employees know they are getting let go before it hits the news. This suspense is ki-ling me - Do I stay or do I go, just tell us already who is being affected.

This is what got us here in my opinion

Leadership in my organization is useless, indecisive and incapable of making sound decisions. When I asked to provide direction, they complicate things by giving you more work, even when you provide them with everything they asked for, they still don’t do anything. You will come out of the discussions/meetings more confused. This leads to ambiguity and tension between team members who end up confused not knowing what to do, not to mention the time and resources wasted on the endless calls where sometimes all it takes is a strong leader to say “yes” or “no”. They do not care as long as you don’t bother or challenge them. The moment you do, you will be rewarded with more work!

Let’s talk about it Charlie

Has anyone received formal written communication of any of the following changes:
1) requirement that we are in the office for 8 hours on in-office days or
2) move to 4 days in-office for some LOBs (ie. Corp Risk)?
It blows my mind that they updated the in-office guidance in October and did not send a single written notice to employees before they told managers to enforce it. In Risk, we’ve been informed verbally that we’re moving to 4 days in-office (even though CS just said nothing is changing) but have not gotten anything in writing confirming this is happening or when it will become effective. We should be getting notified of changes like this at least 60 days beforehand.

Business As Usual? VBG gone or not?

I know these layoffs are coming, Monday is D-day from everything I here lists should basically be out and everyone will know their fate to an extent, but why is VBG still getting normal emails and promos saying they are going through January 5th? And meetings are getting schedule for Late next week for blitz calls getting ready for Black Friday. Getting Black Friday appointments and everything is still running like usual?

Are they just pretending like they don’t know anything or are they just in the dark as everyone else? Or do they just not care and are making VBG workers think we are safe?

I apologize if this is a stupid question just wanting input from some of the fellow V-Team

Why the lies and half truths?

So new board chair was on CNBC and spoke about the need to act and why. The story was factually incorrect though- why overly dramatize the doom and gloom? Yes, VZ has had a problematic trend and yes the company needs to alter strategy to address it, however he stated VZ has gone from 1st to 3rd in bond ratings (false, VZ still enjoys better bond ratings than TMO and ATT), market cap (pick the day and T/VZ swap between 2nd and 3rd, so not entirely factually incorrect), and marketshare- additionally share has fallen 30% over the last 8 years (false, share is not down 30% and VZ still has the most wireless customers- assuming that is what he was referencing). Change was/is needed, but the company isn’t failing- the income and cashflow statements are enough to prove that point. As a boardmember, executive, etc the focus is almost universally to drive confidence in the company- highlight successes, vision, strategies for growth, etc so that investors and others see the positive story (even when the true situation is more of a mixed bag). Why go on the largest business network and bash the company you chair with false facts? Either he needs to spend more time understanding the company he chairs, or this is to sandbag and lay the groundwork and justification for an absolutely unthinkable scale of change in the short/intermediate term. The later is unfortunately the likely answer.

Since a bunch of mo--ns hijacked my last post ..

I'll ask again. Why did VZ publicly deny the layoff rumors and then days later leak the news and every source reports 15k job cuts?! Was this Franz's first task in office?

This is not an effin DEI question, so keep your DEI comments to yourself or make your own post, that will get down ited til it ages off.

Hold Your Fire!

Well folks, it’s been a wild week out here on the range. Rumors gallopin’ faster than a spooked jackrabbit, whispers in every cubicle corral, and folks hidin’ under their desks like coyotes in a hailstorm. But today, I bring word straight from the top bunkhouse—The Ranch Boss himself has spoken.

That’s right: a ceasefire has been declared.

All units, stand down. Pack up your spreadsheets, holster your resume blasters, and step away from the LinkedIn feed. The L48 front has gone quiet—no more surprise ambushes, no more “urgent invites” from HR at high noon. The dust is settlin’, and the Ranch Boss says, “That’s enough shootin’ for one season.”

Now, I ain’t sayin’ the fence line’s fixed or the water trough’s full—there’s still a few loose boards out there, and some of y’all are lookin’ at each other like, “You sure this ain’t a trick?” But as of now, the official word is:
👉 It’s over.
👉 Everyone can holster their nerves.
👉 The L48 herd’s intact… for now.

So take a deep breath, pour yourself a strong cup of office coffee (the kind that tastes like it’s been sittin’ on the burner since the Eagle Ford days), and give thanks that your badge still scans.

This ol’ cowdog’s off to patrol the breakroom—heard there’s a fresh box of donuts, and if anyone thinks they can outmaneuver me for the maple bar, well, they’ve got another thing comin’.

Stay vigilant, stay humble, and above all, stay employed.
— Hank, Head of Ranch Security (L48 Division)

RIF for claims?

I wondered if anyone heard about claims facing RIF. I thought about it through out the year as I filled out my performance review but haven’t heard a single thing or received any emails about my performance in general. Quarterly bonuses end up in my check with no communication or anything sent about them. It’s giving … you’re here for a short time.

Freudian Slip?

Did anyone catch a Freudian slip yesterday? I feel like there was a lot of stammering because of nerves to deliver bad news. But did anyone catch this?

This isn’t verbatim, but something was said along the lines of - we have to make tough calls.. why? For the greater good of the KING — and then instantly corrected to TEAM.

2000 Layoffs...Here's what would be wonderful if they would just be consistent and shared ...

1,000 Layoffs on 10/29
600 Buyouts
1,600 Personnel no longer on the books once Telefe and Chile TV network sold
Talk of 2,000 total Layoffs

Here's what would be great to know...just so all are aligned and working off the same page. We know that the 1,000 10/29 layoffs are part of the 2,000 layoff target. Are the 600 + 1,600 figures above considered part of the total 2,000 or are they completely separate? That's all we're asking DE + Exec Team to share. Are there 1,000 more to go in December of Q1 2026 or is the figure more or less???

Condescension among the Execs

The condescension practically drips out of speakers mouths when answering questions in AMAs. "Compared to other companies, our RTO..."

We don't care about other companies, we care about this one. Answer the question.

These people should go into politics with their ability to talk for an hour and say nothing of value.

VEC MDU Impacted

I heard from a very reliable source 15% of the VEC MDU team is being impacted(Fios or Fixed Wireless) leaders have already had meetings with the HR Team and senior executives at the end of October to go over which employees will be impacted in the roles includes Client Executives,Associate Directors, Directors, and Senior Directors, basically each team will now have 4 client executives and covering more areas, 1 Associate director for the entire state, No more director roles, Q1-Q2 employees last day on payroll not December…if you dont believe me ask your leader what there “all day meeting was end of October” and see if everyone is giving vague answers, this layoff is starting from the top and trickling down to the bottom. calender invites will be sent out Nov 19th end of business day and your leaders will have two meeting Nov 20th, one is with the impacted employees and the other will be with the remaining team to notify them of what is happening. If your received a Leading you are technically safe, if you have any correction action disciplinary/attendance action, or your area is not performing or has decline in performance that might be an opportunity. There will also be a meeting being held with the new business module this week everyone should have a calender invite, I cant confirm any other areas of the business being impacted just this one!
