So our CEO doesn't just hide from staff but analysts too

At least he's consistent.
Who thought using an AI-generated voice model would be a good idea? What message does it send?

Also reading the gibberish he read out, not sure what's worse that he did write it but just got AI to say it or that it was clearly spewed out by AI?

Cut Costs by Cutting Out Wasted Time

I am not talking about AI here.

  1. Stop with all the daily emails and invites to countless town halls from VP to SVP levels and above. We don’t need Up 2 Speed Videos. Give me the daily Newsletter with more details about the whole company.
  2. Stop letting HR change their platforms and Learning / UpSkilling strategy. A company should invest in their employees, but have a single strategy of what is available, clear pathways and keep it perm long enough for Employees to partake. The “Leadership” program was the biggest waste of my time, taking me away from projects to listen to Hosts / Instructors who never achieved anything of significance at Vz.
  3. Have one IT Dept. we have had such a brain drain that most applications and enhancements now live in a black box no one knows how to fix when it breaks. Hire perm Project Managers, real PMO professionals who can guide our big projects over the line, and do so in a single platform instead of every PM deciding how they want to Run / Communicate or Document projects.

WFA layoffs for Branch Support

Tuesday after pay day. Got invite to business update meeting last minute. Guy named we never met told us our positions eliminated. This is the entire firm. Never met the guy, talked in circles about models and we are definitely not part of it. This is a 60 day working so we will be kicked out right after Christmas. They created another job with 1/2 our duties plus other duties reporting to someone else. He didn’t answer questions or look at the camera. I asked around and they is no plan to replace the work we do. They will figure it out in 60 days.

THIS PLACE F-C-ING SU-KS!!

I love my job and the people I work with. Even the ones who are a pain are still tolerable. However, for the last year or so, I hate coming into work the Tuesday after payday wondering if I’m next…and also seeing so many of my coworkers across multiple locations being laid off for no reason other than just coming to work and doing their job.

I also work in SA and constantly worry about losing my job knowing they just opened a new campus up in Dallas.

The CEO and COO needs to get off their a-s and come clean with employees setting the expectation for how many more layoffs can we expect before they cool it.

Disgusting

“Today is a moment to move forward”
“Lean on one another for support” “Let’s move forward” “as we step ahead together” “remove complexity” “Thank you for all you will bring to Target’s next chapter” “remove barriers” “move forward with purpose”

We f’n get it.

Twenty-two days

So we’re supposed to sit here for twenty-two days, wondering if we still have jobs. Twenty-two days of stress, rumors, and sleepless nights. It’s unbelievable how inhumane this process is. They could have given us a week’s notice, even a few days. But no, they’d rather drag it out and make everyone suffer.

The layoffs will continue until morale improves

Does anyone else feel like this is “the layoffs will continue until morale improves?”
I’ve heard of US, CA, MX, UK impacts-. Apparently the announcements will continue to be provided this week as HR could not get a hold of all individuals earlier on Monday and Tuesday.
It hadn’t even been a year since the last round to figure out “a new way of working”- where “we are not asking you to do more with less but to just stop doing the non-value work” I’m still waiting to know what is defined as the non-valued work. I also find it crazy that after a profitable quarter one we continue to lay off employees.

For those affected

For those affected: your line manager will schedule a zoom meeting with you tomorrow morning, and will give you the news one-on-one in that call. There is a rough script they will have to follow. They will tell you about when your last day is (depends on WARN status, etc.), your STIP status (if any), and a little about your severance. They will answer any questions they are able. For any that they cannot, they will refer you to your HR rep. You will then get an email from HR almost immediately after you have had your call with your manager with further information and confirming everything you’ve discussed. Your manager is supposed to send out meeting invites first thing in your working day.

HR email

Good morning,

Thank you for joining today's webinar, and I sincerely apologize for the technical difficulties. This email will summarize the takeaway that's specific to you.

As I shared in the webinar, we have been doing work across the company to remove complexity and enable our organization to move with greater speed and agility. Through that effort, we've made the difficult decision to eliminate about 1,800 HQ and global roles.

I'm sharing today that your position is one that is being eliminated.

I recognize this is incredibly difficult news. We are very committed to supporting you through this transition.

While today will be your last day of work, you will remain on Target's payroll and be paid through January 3, 2026.

You will soon receive details about your individual transition package, including severance, benefits, and career support services. In addition, resources like Spring Health are available to support you and your family.

Later this morning, you will have the opportunity to join a session to ask questions and learn more. Our HR partners will also be available to support you directly. Please watch your email for next steps.

Thank you for the impact you've had during your time at Target. These decisions are never easy and I genuinely appreciate the commitment and contributions you have made to the company.

With respect and gratitude.
Melissa

This Has Ruined Target’s Image

Can I just start by saying, what a complete sh-t show these last few days have been? They made us employees wait for days, ruin our mental health, and provide no information at all at how this would unfold.

Then hearing of this absolutely disgusting way of telling affected people by inviting them to a webinar, they disabled the chat, and the meeting audio not working? Wtf!

The icing on the cake is my manager just chatted our whole team and asked if we were safe from the layoffs…like, hello? Our management doesn’t even know if their teams are affected?

Whoever is in charge of this better be fired for their complete incompetence. What a damn embarrassment for the company. The new ceo, the board, and the executive team should be ASHAMED!

The one good thing is that it’s been done quickly

Everything else has been a mess, from the announcement and the buildup, to the awful communication from leadership right up to the last minute. I dread whatever comes next. I really feel for those affected today, especially anyone in a tougher spot than the rest. Wishing them all the luck.

Fall National/Target Together

As if this approach to layoffs wasn’t bad enough, anyone else reflecting on all the attempted “feel good” moments at this year’s fall National and feeling even more betrayed? BC getting emotional about stepping down, humanizing Fiddelke interviewing his children and pushing the family man that he is, the constant preaching of bringing joy to all families, holiday magic, smiles, excitement, team target etc etc etc meanwhile, some of them knew this was around the corner?! I realize working in corporate America you have to have to be cold and manipulative to some extent because at the end of the day it truly is about the bottom line, but I can’t help but question how some of the leaders of this company could stand in front of us all with such happy & cheery faces knowing they were going to kick off the holiday season with mass layoffs.

Don’t need people commenting about their salaries and bonuses as to how they were able to do that. Obviously. Sometimes I just like to think they’re more human than they clearly are.

Management Liars

So, originally I was told last month that some employees would be able to keep their Microsoft licenses due to work necessities, now I’m hearing that’s not the case.

I’m tired of all the lies, and the total chaos that this Microsoft to Google conversion will bring.

When management tells you one thing, just assume the opposite is true.

Total dumpster fire.

3 things to do as a CEO?

If you were to be in Fiddelke's shoes, what would be 3 things you'd do right now?
I'll go first:

  • rebuild trust and do it fast (comms, plans, dont let people find stuff from the media)
  • fix culture before fixing cost (give power 2 remaining teams & simplify... less layers)
  • protect the brand’s core (keep design/merch/stores connected) & dont outsource

60 days is the Warn act

Wanted to ensure everyone knows that the 60 days that is provided is not out of generosity of target. Its a way they are actually getting around notifying the minnesota government of the mass layoffs. Instead of notifying the government first 60 days in advance of a planned layoff, its notifying employees and at the same time telling the government. Look up the minnesota warn act.

Just piling onto the absolute abysmal job target is doing to communicate.

Roundel leadership NEEDS TO RESIGN

I truly hope Roundel leadership takes accountability for how this situation has been handled. As employees, we look for comfort, feedback, and — most importantly — transparency from our leaders. The continued silence and lack of communication leading up to Tuesday have been disappointing and disheartening. In times like this, openness and honesty are what build trust and show respect for the people who make this organization what it is. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case, and it’s left many of us feeling embarrassed and let down. I ask do better be better and just resign.

Where did the TM(s) w/intel go?? I need more!

I've been monitoring this site for the last month or so. I'd like to ask whomever knew the actual details (dates, we'll get email to WFH next week, etc) to come back & post what we can expect on Tuesday. Will everyone getting a meeting invite - one group who are laid off & other who are not (at least not this round)? Will it be by pyramid? And why Tuesday? Why not just do it yesterday? Did MF send the email on Thursday because the rumor was growing or was that the plan all along? We didn't get a heads up in 2015, so while I guess it's nice to know it's coming, 5 days notice is just too long.

Severees eligible for benefits next year: how did you get notified of open enrollment— or did you?

As above. I just happened to notice it’s open (?) and ends mid Nov, as per uge.

I didn’t get an email nor I don’t think a snail mail.

They couldn’t possibly try to keep me from getting free bennies months into next year… or would they??
