Understandable that employees, stockholders, and customers are angry!

You must agree that it is understandable everyone is angry - in the last few months we have seen dedicated and caring people who really wanted to help Humana and its customers succeed. Those who remain are nervous since people were let go just because of a sweeping decision - nothing they could control or would they underperforming employees. HR is not helping - there are open positions and they are not helping hiring managers bring some of these folks into these open positions.

I'm still here and I am here because I was interested in helping seniors - but it is hard when I'm watching us deny them care and making them fight for benefits. It has been extremely difficult watching the people I saw give so much to the organization leave and some slackers who took credit but did nothing are still here!

I know this happens all the time but knowing that does not make it any easier! It is just hard to work in an underperforming organization - at any company going through this, it is toxic until it settles down. It just hasn't been good for years and years!

Please don't tell me to "just quit" - I care about my customers / patients! I care about my coworkers! And, the reality is that it is not just as simple as "just quit" - we all have to have an income to survive. We are allowed to be sad, mad, stressed, concerned, fearful, and hopeful - or any emotion we are feeling - we are allowed to be human!

How many cuts before nothing's left

I'm watching team after team get carved up and wondering when this becomes unsustainable. They keep cutting deeper, and everyone left is just expected to absorb the rest. No one's asking if the work still gets done, or who's going to be around to do it. I keep waiting for the breaking point, but maybe we're already there and nobody's willing to say it.

Verizon Employee Breakdown (Extent of May layoffs)

Union - 27% (24,270 = CWA + IBEW)
India + EMEA - 11% (9,890)
Non-union - 62% (55,290 incl engineers, customer reps, sales and juicy Management fat @ BR)
Verizon Total - 89,900

Union - ~69% (8,700 = CWA + IBEW)
Non-union - ~30% (3,780)
Frontier Total - 12,600

Assuming the unions cannot be touched, is it reasonable to expect future cuts to be amongst the (55,290 + 3,780 = 59,070)?

**Based on all the chatter, assuming a 15% hair cut that equates to ~8,860

Corporate Headquarters is UNFIXABLE

My understanding is that the cost to repair the building on Veterans was cost po rohibitive given the dwindling employee population. The building is failing in many ways. Unsure why they spent so much money to fix it up in the last ten years. I understand they had the information for at least 15 years. This is a structure issue as much as a "no butts in chairs" issue. But they probably don't want anyone to know that. The building will either be sold to someone who doesn't care about the building issues....or knocked down for new development. Which is also kind of iffy....given the continued drop in employees. Also heard....Atlanta is likely going to close.....makes sense...no parking...no way to access the building...and a difficult employee force....hmmmmmm

when will GT FTS reorg?

This organization looks very strange, I mean the domain merger and the fact that VPs report to VP. On top of that, there are strange creations like Tech Mod, a lot of in-house solutions and a lot of lazy engineering dinosaurs in various positions from Sr Dir to Engineer level, on the other hand, the huge layoffs can destsbilize engineering teams and stability of systems/infrastructure for Nike business.

There's really no way to protect yourself from layoffs, is there?

The most productive, most liked because she's always helping others, the most knowledgeable person on our team, the person who made our manager look good was laid off. So tell me, if all of that didn't save her, then what's there to do to be safe? The answer is simple, nothing.

Make Sure To Vote AGAINST Rob’s Pay

Legitimately sickening that he is making millions while overseeing years of layoffs and decline. Make sure to vote against his pay in the proxy voting! Since apparently TRP is too chicken sh-t to send out an employee survey for the last 4? 5? years, this is one way to let your voice known.

..Remember when the millennial's told you..

Do your best, always. Still, the reality is that the days of staying in one position for 20 years, earning steady raises, and feeling protected from RIF conversations are gone.

For those who are hurting, it makes sense. You invested a lot of yourself. But it’s also a moment to reflect, especially when younger generations have often been labeled as less committed or less invested. When they were just more optimized. You should have been learning from them.

This is the reality of 2026. Nothing work related is special about any of us.

My heart goes out to those who are out of work. There is something here for all of us to learn.

MF doesn't get it

AC actually understood the product and knew how to protect it. I vividly remember him jumping in on earnings calls to take product-related questions over MP and TE.

Now we literally hand entire NFL sideline teams Panda Dunks to wear en mass on national TV. When did it become cool to wear something that everybody can have?

Speaking of, I hear we're about to ki-l another franchise out of desperation - the AM90... in the most iconic colorway. What are we doing here??

It's not all about juicing short-term revenues to hit quarterly targets. EH deserves better from his 2nd in command.

Spill the beans

What are things you want everyone to know about this crazy company?

We need a union & this wouldn’t be happening. 7 from my team (including myself) were laid off yesterday. Lame Teams meeting, call muted, read from a script, no emotion, on/off in 7 minutes total. 14 years of dedicated service to our customers gone!! They don’t care. We are just a # and they want more $ to pad their own retirement plans and bank accounts. Sickening!! It’s time to expose what we know…

FACTS not Fiction

For anyone that thinks you aren’t replaceable, ponder this:

How many employees does UHC/Optum ‘really’ need to run business for jobs that can’t be automated or OGS to complete? C&S (Community & State) and a few E&I (only if US employees are required per their contract).

Whatever your answer is, cut that in # in 1/2. Once cuts are complete in Q1 2027, remaining US FTEs will be doing the work of 2-3 employees. Think not? It’s already happening.

A few questions:
How many layoffs have occurred in 2 years? How many teams disappeared?
What happened to their work?
Which depts absorbed it or was it considered irrelevant?
How many GL30+ have left in 2 years?

Jobs Posted Are Bogus/Faux

Majority of UHC/Optum job postings are bogus/faux. They are posted to suffice investors & shareholders that business is booming. Employees know differently. Stock has taken a hit & the scramble continues. Mass layoffs are desperate attempt to save the sinking ship.

For those let go, don’t plan to get re-hired. It’s smoke & mirrors on our job boards. HireVue, interviews with recruiters & hiring managers - it’s all faux. This is reported to investors & gives illusion all is good. Facts don’t lie.

Annual layoff at TIAA / Nuveen

Turns out there was actually a real annual layoff recently, not related to the Coffee Badging thing, even though this enforcement accelerated greatly and many people were laid off for that too.

But it is odd that the annual layoff where people were let go for cost cutting reasons from the company didn't make waves on this forum at all.

Can OpenText really still succeed?

Let's see...

  • no clear vision
  • no real leadership
  • no accountability
  • bloated executive suite
  • failure to keep products moving forward
  • no real R&D or innovation
  • brain drain

And we are getting rid of MORE workers to fix the sinking ship? When it was the leadership's responsibility to get us ahead? So if they aren't responsible for anything, why are they here again? Let us make the decisions instead, that way if I'm going to be fired it'll be my fault.

And we are divesting as well. So what has been the real purpose of acquiring so much tech? The board members have made these decisions all from long ago until now. Did they finally give up? I stand to argue that none of them know what they're doing and they have no real business sense, they got lucky with some acquires and with their poor business skills have failed to keep momentum going forward.

We were on the right track to fire Mark but we forgot to get rid of the puppeteer, Mr. Tom Jenkins himself along with the board members who have been making these poor decisions after poor decisions since it all started. But that's impossible because ALL the board members are incompetent, and there's no one above. So it's game over.

The final cherry on this cake (truly an insult to us all) is that we hired an executive failure from BlackBerry to take over as the master puppet. Tom Jenkin's hand can reach all the way through and it still won't make a difference.

This is really fascinating and funny to watch evolve in real time. The funnier part is that we have/had the tech to be great. Despite what many of you say about our products being "cr-ppy" which is merely a symptom of bad leadership, we had the chance many times to take it to the next level and instead we sat our as--s down draining whatever life was left of these products until they started to crumble. And then they have the audacity to sp-t in our faces for these failures.

I am truly sorry to everyone who has been and will be affected. The economy is not great, and some of us need our jobs more than ever. You have been failed by corporate toddlers, you deserve better.

As for the corporate toddlers, go back to business school and this time don't skip classes.

Liberty Home Choices Shuts Down, Over 600 Laid Off

Liberty Home Choices announced its impending closure. More than 600 workers will be laid off. An economic downturn was cited as the reason. The industry struggles with low Medicaid rates. High employee turnover also affects the sector.

Individual layoffs coming - Expect the Unexpected!!

GL31 here - Execs will conduct individual layoffs throughout the year. This will be in addition to group layoffs of misc teams. In cases where there’s only 1 individual from a team being RIFd, this will be a 1/1 call w direct leader.

Meeting w leaders was 3/19 after massive layoffs complete to give notice of ‘next steps’. They are aware employees are expecting notices & the goal is to keep the next dates ‘confidential’ and have the ‘element of surprise’. Expect the unexpected as more deep cuts are coming.

My friend & peer is GL32. Informed GL30-32 will be part of the ‘individual’ layoffs as to not cause alarm to their teams. Expect sudden ‘retirements’, ‘spending more time with their families, pursuing other opportunities’, etc. But in the end, we all know they were booted & forced to leave. It just sounds better when it’s presented as though it was their choice vs forced.

Buckle up - lots more cuts on the horizon.

Goldman Sachs to Dismiss Underperformers in New Round

Goldman Sachs plans a new round of layoffs in April. These cuts will target underperforming employees. They are separate from the bank's usual annual workforce reduction. The firm is adopting a more continuous performance management strategy. This reflects a wider trend across Wall Street.

https://www.derryjournal.com/business/plans-for-new-expanded-clean-room-with-potential-for-80-jobs-at-seagate-in-derry-6038221

Derry City and Strabane District Council has received plans for a new, expanded clean room at Seagate in Derry.
Council’s planning portal recently received the planning application, which seeks to partially demolish the existing, single storey fab 1 clean room and replace it with a new, three-storey extended fab 1 clean room.

Last September Seagate announced a £115 million, five-year investment to develop new hard drive technology, which could see the creation of up to 80 highly skilled new jobs at the manufacturing facility.
