CDW isn't what it used to be. Worse culture, worse pay, with constant cuts on top of it. So why do you stay? For me, it's health insurance. That's the only reason.

Lost two good people today
If they try to say this is about performance, it's bullsh-t. We lost two of our best, highest performing people. I don't know why and who made the decision, but it's more than obvious by what's been happening that we're being led by complete and utter id--ts.
Is anybody hiring?
Is there a gaming company left that's actually hiring people and not laying them off? Where are we supposed to find new jobs? I really don't want to change industries, but the way things are looking, I won't really have a choice.
Layoffs today
Good luck everybody.
What's the severance?
Is there somewhere to look it up?
The best people aren't complaining, they're leaving
Nobody's hearing the top performers gripe about how bad things are, and that's not because they're fine with it. They're just quietly working their networks, sending out applications, and planning their escape without making a scene. By the time leadership realizes they're gone, it'll be too late because all the people who actually carried the weight will have already found their way out.
Layoffs are a funny way to treat an ‘Important Part Of Our Portfolio’
Sony is laying off potentially hundreds of developers at Bungie as part of its latest round of cuts following the end of support for Destiny 2, but it will continue investing in Marathon despite the extraction sho-ter’s ongoing struggles to expand its audience despite rave reviews. That was the message from PlayStation Studios chief Hermen Hulst in a new letter about the cuts. The Sony exec called Marathon an “important” part of the company’s gaming portfolio and promised ongoing support, at least for now.

Layoffs question
I haven't heard any rumors in a while, which should be good but it's just making me nervous. Are we safe currently or is this just the calm before all he-l breaks loose?
CENTENE VOICE SURVEY
Centene are you freaking serious???? Sending out surveys asking for our opinions right now??? You don’t care about us and leaving us in limbo for weeks not knowing what to do or expect and you send out a satisfaction survey. Please save your time and maybe update your staff on the VSP and if what you expected to take it has vs has not so maybe we will have a better idea of what to do. Shove your stupid survey up your butt.
Cuts have started

Who is in charge of the company
I cannot believe the direction our company has been going in. It is like the people in charge have lost their minds ! First the horrible change with our forklifts.. now we had to take all of our back end caps down . All this wasted space .. where do they think all the extra stuff they buy is going to go.. especially with the holidays coming soon. They over buy clothing … ugly clothing .. then we have to give it all away to a liquidator.. we have special events with mattresses .. which they over buy and we had to pull those to give to the backroom for the liquidator .. seems like we are in business to make them money instead of us
So what happend in Romenia?
Heard there is going to be layoffs? Did it happen? Which departments were impacted, and how many colleagues?
I put in for the VSP
The VSP makes sense for me. I am fortunate and I know it. And I get the fear of everyone. I have heard via a high ranking person within the company that pretty much everyone that asks for it will get it. They might be kept beyond the 9/1 date due to a project or something.
I get what is happening, but the people who don't place the blame 90% on the shoulders of Sarah London and the BOD are misguided. Last week we saw the BOD firming up their grip on power by bringing in another person on their side. This is unfortunate for the employees and probably the stockholders as well.
I wish all my coworkers well, but if you can swing it, take the VSP and move on.

Banking Industry Concern
Based on what I have read, Fiserv appears to be making significant staffing cuts, similar to those recently seen at FIS. Many of the employees affected held roles that are essential to keeping the global banking system stable and secure, including cybersecurity professionals who help prevent intrusions, developers and testers who review code and ensure systems function properly, and compliance personnel who help ensure regulatory requirements are met.
When these teams are reduced or stretched too thin, the risk of gaps in oversight, system reliability, and operational resilience increases. It raises serious questions about whether organizations like FIS would have the staffing, expertise, and capacity needed to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a major disruption, such as a natural disaster affecting a data center.
Overall, these developments have me concerned about the resilience of the banking infrastructure we all depend on. I would welcome greater scrutiny from auditors or regulators, because the combination of deep staffing cuts, rising operational complexity, and critical financial infrastructure could create vulnerabilities that may not become visible until a serious failure occurs.
Wells Fargo is approaching breaking the record
...for longest period of time that a public company has posted consistent YOY headcount declines.
I got curious this morning about just how unusual the situation at Wells is, and decided to do some digging. Based on the information I can find, here's some of the existing records for longest consecutive streaks of corporate downsizing:
IBM went through 8 years of downsizing from 1985 to 1993 as the tech market moved from mainframes to personal computers, shrinking from a high of 405k employees to 219k by 1993.
General Motors went through 7 years of YOY headcount reductions from 2002 to 2009 as a result of foreign competition and shrinking market share, up until their bankruptcy in the wake of the global financial crisis and bailout by the US government.
Blackberry/RIM posted 5 straight years of headcount cuts from 2011 to 2016 as a result of competition from iPhone and Android, finishing in 2016 with 25% of the employees they started with.
Wells is currently running a streak from 2019 to today, blowing past Blackberries record and in line with GM. Given the CEO's public statements, we're also on track to beat IBM as well. Don't you feel proud to work here?
(My point was this post was just to let folks know, if this feels like an overwhelmingly toxic place to work, you are not alone. The situation at Wells is extraordinarily, historically bad. This is not normal)
Layoffs 2026
They have just started to do major Layoffs nationwide!!!!!!!!!!!! They have not announced anything and are telling employees to keep it hush.
Positions are being dissolved, and are encouraging people to apply to other positions within the organization
Who's safe?
Do you know of any teams that survived all recent layoffs intact?
How many of us are actively looking for opportunities outside of Shell?
I work in IT in US and have started actively looking. I have a first interview lined up next week. I am treating it as more of a warm up interview to get a feel for the market. I haven't interviewed in 7 or so years.
Kind of tough that so many companies hire but are also doing layoffs at the same time.
Today’s layoffs
East Tx and north Tx being laid off today, some peeps already saying their good byes on teams
IT or "DT" MSP
Here we go again! You love to hear it, let's celebrate y'all. Even contractors are not safe, it's like they haven't learned from Chevron, P66 on MSP's. You gotta love these leaders who be flying on PJ's drinking champagne while the common folk get shagged.
Layoffs in front/middle/back office to come
The consultants hired for the F2BOW initiative have set a target headcount reduction of 60-100. This is for business only, tech headcount reductions haven’t been determined yet, but they said there is significant “capacity creation” there as well. No set date, but probably later this year.
DEI Layoffs?
I wonder if any DEI department employees were let go.
Layoffs are permanent
Management only knows how to cut, so layoffs will never stop. Time to accept reality.
Everyone is looking for a new job
But I'm yet to hear that anybody found it. That's how bad it is out there. And that's the main reason why not just Verizon, but most of the companies can currently get away with treating their employees like cr-p. There's literally nowhere else to go for the majority of us.
Sh---y CEO
Centered CEO is an American sellout paid puppet. This is why we are looking for jobs.
Why do “leadership” hate the employees?
We’re all adults here with careers, families, mortgages, and kids.
Yet we’re being treated like toddlers who need constant supervision, or maybe Stink just thinks we’re his prisoners.
Presence reports. Badge tracking. Attendance monitoring. Endless RTO enforcement. Isn’t it a bit much?.. All of it sends the same message, leadership doesn’t trust its employees, and once trust is gone, disengagement follows.
Seriously, why would anyone want to work in an environment like this?
The company talks endlessly about “culture” while implementing policies that actively destroy it.
The result is exactly what you’d expect, lower morale, higher turnover, and employees spending more time worrying about presence reports, FTW letters, and layoffs than innovation or growth.
When professionals are treated like they’re one badge swipe away from detention, it’s hard to feel respected or motivated. Especially when they’re blaming the masses for the faults of 1% who are no longer here.
You can mandate attendance, but you can’t mandate trust, engagement, or hard work & dedication. Loyalty and trust go hand in hand, and this CEO said “loyalty is dead”.
Are the "SVPs" next?
I keep hearing news that the useless "SVPs" are now getting hit. Let's keep up that momentum until they are all ou of there!
CAG - Cisco as A Gig
Layoffs are nothing new at Cisco. I often joke that there are three unavoidable things in life: taxes, death, and Cisco layoffs. But this latest round feels different. I've noticed a significant shift in attitude from the executive leadership team, and it's unsettling.
On one hand, I'm glad the "#WeAreFamily" and "#WeAreCisco" messaging has largely disappeared. Those slogans always felt difficult to reconcile with the reality of recurring layoffs. On the other hand, what has replaced them may be even more troubling. The message now seems to be that layoffs are simply part of life and should be expected. Fran has openly stated that Cisco does not offer job security. Mark's focus appears to be relentless cost-cutting. And Chuck seems willing to support whatever is necessary to keep the stock price moving upward.
What does that create? A company that grows through acquisitions, cuts headcount quickly, and offers fewer opportunities for long-term career development.
Why do I say that? If your skills happen to align with current business priorities, you're probably safe for the moment. But if your expertise is no longer considered strategic, you may find yourself included in the next round of layoffs.
I know Fran often highlights internal mobility as a strength, but in more than ten years at Cisco, I have never personally seen someone targeted for a layoff successfully secure a new role through the standard internal hiring process. I have seen people land other positions, but typically because they had strong networks and someone actively advocated for them. Once your name appears on a layoff list, hiring you can be seen as challenging a decision already made by management and approved by HR. Few people are willing to do that.
Meanwhile, only a limited number of roles seem to be available internally, while acquisitions continually bring in new talent and headcount. Combined with the lack of meaningful internal redeployment, it creates the impression that Cisco would rather acquire or hire externally than invest in helping existing employees develop the skills the company says it needs for the future.
So what are we left with?
For me, it no longer feels like a career. It feels like a gig, just a paycheck until something better comes along.
Uncomfortable truth...
Q2 Earnings will be a disaster (yes, we have a few days left), and all this job cutting will continue throughout 2026.
There were no meaningful, needle-moving developments in Q2: no market-disrupting announcements, no material improvement in execution, and interest rates remain elevated. That last point matters because the company is carrying more than $20 billion in debt, making refinancing and deleveraging increasingly challenging. At current levels $35-38, this stock is not 'a bargain' - it is a value trap.
The bull case largely depends on achieving more than $3 billion in free cash flow by 2028. That assumes flawless execution over the coming years. That assumption is far too optimistic. The scale of the cost reductions (layoffs, outsourcing) has significantly increased execution risk, while higher interest rates will likely slow debt reduction more than current projections suggest.
Then there’s the AI narrative. So far, it looks more like hope than evidence. Many large enterprises have discovered that indiscriminately consuming AI tokens is one of the most expensive and least efficient ways to improve productivity. Until there are measurable business outcomes—not just promises—I don’t see AI materially changing the investment case.
If you’re still at the company and haven’t started exploring other opportunities, seriously consider doing so. The current management team is delusional and underestimates both the financial complexity of the turnaround and the challenge of rebuilding the execution engine after such deep cuts. Don't expect a meaningful recovery unless the board takes decisive action.
And if you were recently laid off, I’m genuinely sorry. While it may not feel like it today, there are strong companies looking for talented people. Hopefully, you negotiated a fair severance package. Take some time to recover, then focus on your next opportunity.
Retaliation at Microsoft? Say it ain't so.
Former Xbox employees warn of potential for retaliation in rumored impending layoffs
Ahead of rumored layoffs at Microsoft-owned Xbox, former employees are warning of potential for retaliation.
They base this claim on their own experiences being ousted by the company under potentially retaliatory circumstances.
They urge current employees to document their experiences at the company and contact their HR partners.

Are people avoiding Oracle these days?
We've been trying to fill a role for months, and we've gotten almost no qualified applicants. It almost feels like qualified people have heard the stories, know what it's like here, and are staying away as a result. We desperately need help, but I don't think we'll get it anytime soon.
