The grass is greener…
So I am still bitter about my time at USB Business Banking. I was recruited away from my previous employer, a solid place, to work on the Greatest Product Ever Imagined - Business Essentials!! Told the opportunities here were endless! Well wouldn’t you know that after almost 2 years I was part of a RIF…BE was released so why did they need me or most of the others on my team?? (50’s, white woman, everyone left on my team India , but I digress). I’m still pi---d that I was lied to and basically lured away with lies only to be laid off right before Christmas.
I used my network and landed a role before my severance ended, and I was not sad I was laid off. I was pi---d. Anyway, I’m still at that new job, it’s not with a big bank but is in finance, fully remote, and it’s solid and stable.
I guess my point is my bitterness lingers, but after reading about the cr-p you all are enduring here, I’m so glad I was laid off. Despite what you see about the market, there are opportunities! They may be with small, unknown businesses, but they’re out there. Nurture your network. It’s how I landed my new position and I’m convinced it’s how I will land in any future positions.
Sometimes, the grass is greener.
I can’t wait when Big Tech swallows Big Finance after AI
Scharf is so corrupt that his c-suite continues to lie, lie, lie that work produced by AI is not the product of the employees who know the subject matter to properly use AI. I will laugh when after Scharf is done firing everyone - big Tech price gouges Wells Fargo and takes it over.

Finance Town Hall
Today’s finance town hall introduced me to the phrase “trend warrior.”
Trend. Warrior. 🙄
Umm, this is an insurance company. Nobody is storming the beaches of Q3 armed with an Excel pivot table.
But sure. I’ll circle back, leverage some synergies, identify actionable insights, move the needle, and then mount my noble steed and ride forth into battle against unfavorable financial trends.
Or—and hear me out—we could just do our jobs and stop naming everything.
Sincerely,
Still working • Still skeptical • Still refusing to drink the corporate Kool-Aid.

BNY Stocks
How do I cash out the six BNY stocks we were granted back in 2023?
I clicked transfer but was met with “your cash balance is $41.36. To make more cash available, you’ll need to place a trade”.

Explain to me like I’m clueless (because I’ve never done this), if I click place a trade, what do I select or click next?
I just want my money.

Has ANYONE received severance yet?
I'm only 3 weeks of waiting at this point, but I see folks have been waiting since May and still haven't received it or any word from NetApp. How can we organize and get this in front of some financial reporters?
At what net worth do layoffs stop feeling like a real threat
I’ve been following the news and doing some financial planning. I’ve been thinking from a net worth perspective instead of just cash flow.
I get that if you’re already a multi-millionaire, instability from a potential layoff doesn’t keep you up at night. I’m curious though, at what net worth did you personally stop fretting much about this kind of risk?
The usual advice is to save up 6 months of expenses in cash, but I’m curious from the asset side.
Is this an OK question to ask here? Just trying to do some planning when the rumors are floating around.
Layoffs Preparation
I got my finances in order and ready for layoffs. Anyone know when is the next layoff storms? Or do you know if they are offering volunteer leave with severance?

City Treasurer Proposes Fund Abolishment to Prevent Layoffs
Chicago City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin has proposed disbanding the $57 million Catalyst Fund. This action is intended to avert mid-year layoffs for police and fire departments. The fund was established to stimulate development in underserved neighborhoods but never attracted outside investment. Conyears-Ervin believes reallocating these funds is a necessary step to address the city's current financial deficit. She argues that protecting essential city services is a greater priority than maintaining the underperforming fund.

New major risk - Financial position
The company's interest payments are not well covered by earnings.
Net interest cover: 3.0x
This is considered a major risk. If the company is unable to fund interest repayments on its debt through profits, it may be forced into reducing its debt burden through selling assets, undertaking a potentially costly capital raising or even into bankruptcy in the worst case scenario.
Job openings at Fidelity
Looks like there are about 88k employees at Fidelity and only about 800 job openings. According to AI stats available online, a company that has over 80k employees should have between 1,600 to 4,000 open positions at any given time. This represents roughly 2% to 5% of the total workforce. Does anyone know why the number is so low for Fidelity? Is this typical in the financial services industry? Just curious!
