Comcast closing its West Division, cutting 302 jobs in Centennial

Comcast Corp., owner of the nation’s largest cable TV and broadband provider Xfinity, informed the state on Wednesday that it will eliminate 302 positions at its West Division office in Centennial at the end of the year.

The company, one of the largest private sector employers in the state, said it would close its West Division headquarters at 9401 E. Panorama Circle in Centennial as part of a larger streamlining that will remove all three divisional headquarters.

Endless layoffs are tearing this place apart

It feels like every few months someone else is being shown the door, and it’s taking a real toll on what’s left of the team. We lose skilled people faster than we can train new ones, and the work keeps getting shuffled around until no one really owns anything. Morale is at rock bottom because nobody knows if they’ll be next, and that kind of fear makes it impossible to do your best work. What’s worse is watching all that experience walk out the door straight into our competitors. If leadership doesn’t stop treating layoffs like a fix-all, there won’t be much of a company left to rebuild.

Grant Me Grace, Dang It!

Hi Y'all, I know I am the worst thing that has ever happened to this once great firm. I know I am bringing the worst leaders the business world has to offer in and giving them GP payouts from day one instead of rewarding the long-tenured associates who have helped build this firm to what it once was before I took over the reigns. I know I personally brought in DC, the most cringeworthy leader in the history of the world. I know I am not qualified to lead a group of first graders on a school field trip. I know I have lost the trust and respect of everyone at the firm, including those closest to me even if they smile at me while I am in the room. But, please grant me grace. I only have a few more years until I age out of my position. That means I only have a few short years of attaining my vision of cashing annual checks in excess of $29 million while cutting people making $50,000 per year and deciding which utility bill to pay this month. You people do not understand how tough of a position I am in. This is about me and how you can serve me, oh and the firm, don't forget about the firm, oh and the clients, can't forget about the clients, I guess (McKinsey, am I saying that right?). Remember, this is not about you and your lives. You are just cogs in the bigger picture of allowing me and my husband to fulfill our dream of running a Fortune 500 company that has excelled for over a century into the ground and then taking a golden parachute as I leave a trash heap for those who remain. Please grant me grace. It is tough when I see someone knowing they secretly hate me. The rest of the associates at the firm have it so easy. You guys show up everyday, do a great job, treat people with respect, and have integrity. You guys are respected. You do not know what I have to deal with being not only not respected, but despised. So, please grant me grace as you sit in your unheated house because you cannot pay the power bill this month. My life is tough. You little people will never understand how tough my life is. Ok, I have to go now. I have another summit to attend while wearing an airbrushed blazer speaking to branch associates because I am afraid to address home office associates now. I have to practice pulling the wool over people's eyes who are not in the home office and may not know what is going on. Remember, "We are all One Edward Jones (well, until I lay you off and give your job to someone in India)!

Are we paying attention to FRED -REPO Ops Market? why are banks frantically sell off Treasury bonds and Mortgages?

Are we paying attention to FRED - why are banks frantically sell off Treasury bonds and Mortgages?

Banks are saying they have a capital and liquidity issue. They are selling off all their bonds (like taking your gold and diamonds to a pawn shop) and mortgage securities (like taking your clothes, food, and furniture).

USAA (and navy fed) is in a worst case scenario as most of our deposits come DoD / Government pay (or social security) food stamps no longer being paid out, etc.

2021: zero banks went to repo market to sell or "pawn" assets
2022: zero banks went to repo market to sell or "pawn"assets
2023:zero banks went to repo market to sell or "pawn"assets
2024:zero banks went to repo market to sell or "pawn"assets
2025:zero banks went to repo market to sell or "pawn"assets
2025: Sept $6.5B in treasury and $1.5B in Mortgage Backed)
October: $6.6B in treasury and $8.6B in Mortgage Backed)

Also, look at the dates - its right before pay day. USAA was expecting $7B in direct deposits on the 30th and 15th. In Sept we utilized the remaining liquidity we had and went to repo market. In oct looks like we sold a LOT and are paycheck to paycheck.

Layoffs will be the least of our problems - hint, change your direct deposit to your alternate bank. Another hint, yea someone will most likely bail us out - but with their company.

(this topic is much deeper and more complex) this is just the high points with a few facts.

Q3 Results

Imagine how bad the Q3 results are. I was pi---d and I'm not happy to be in these cuts and scrambling for work, but I am happy to be out of that toxic mess. Please let us know who were cut what a mess the next town hall or the earnings call is.
Soulless pricks in this leadership team that has buried a 120 year old company. What a bunch of complete losers.

VP confirmed layoffs continue 2026 big changes

Had long talk with my VP. Confirmed large cuts and outsourcing 2026. Budgets close to final 2026 but churn still and earnings. I am probably safe he emphasized LBT wants radical change but feels most old timers are lost entrenched and beyond change ability. Losers. Bringing in new talent at top level and at every single level. Expect focused effort at removing all managers directors VPs which are not top 25% and not Dee technical Same with Gr9 and Gr10 Eng who haven’t implemented or wrote specs in years. get rid of PowerPoint professionals.
Going to be a wild ride. 2025 looks like minor change to what is ahead.

Verizon RIFs – Will Remote Employees Be Targeted First?

I’m hearing a lot of rumors about possible RIFs at Verizon, and I’m wondering if anyone knows whether remote or hybrid employees could be more at risk. Do you think Verizon might target work-from-home employees first, or is that just speculation?

I’d like to hear what others are seeing in their groups and whether RTO status is actually a factor when it comes to layoffs.

EA workers fight back: union slams $55 billion Saudi-backed buyout

Electronic Arts (EA) was recently bought out by a consortium that is made up of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners investment firm for $55 billion. Now, a union representing EA workers has publicly opposed the sale and privatization of the company, saying employees weren't properly represented during the sale negotiations.

The statement names the United Videogame Workers-CWA Local 9433, along with the Communication Workers of America (CWA), as now very concerned that the privatization of EA will lead to company layoffs. The union states EA is "not a struggling company," with "annual revenues reaching $7.5 billion and $1 billion in profit each year".

Jefferson Health laying off roughly 650 employees

It’s also not too far off from closing its major acquisition of Lehigh Valley Health Network, back in August 2024, the latest in a decade-long stream of merger deals that swelled the organization to 32 hospitals. Jefferson had already cut 171 workers in January by outsourcing several back-office functions after the merger, and before, it that had cut around 400 as part of a 2023 restructuring.

I’m lucky enough to be close to retirement

I can’t wait to be one of the “chosen ones” in the upcoming cuts. But I’m truly sorry for my younger colleagues, especially those carrying heavier burdens than most and now facing the possibility of losing their jobs. It’s brutal out there right now, and for the sake of the many good and decent people I’ve met here over the years, I really hope things improve soon. When they do, never tie your entire career or self-worth to one company. Your true value is yours alone, not defined by corporate expectations.

Nestlé to Slash 16,000 Jobs as New CEO Speeds Up Turnaround

The job reductions, amounting to about 6% of the workforce, will occur over the next two years, the maker of Nespresso coffee capsules and KitKat candy bars said Thursday. The jobs announcement came alongside a 4.3% rise in third-quarter sales, driven by higher prices and improved real internal growth — a key measure of volumes closely watched by analysts and investors.

Musical chairs plays out daily at Booz Allen

Every morning, at 7 am sharp the game begins for Booz Allen employees. Count on it no matter what Booz Allen leadership preaches. So, when the music stops, if your left standing without a chair you'll be issued a layoff notice within days if not hours. There are many people inside the company desperately looking for new work. Unfortunately, if you are one of them. Your given an unrealistic amount of time to find new work before a layoff notice is issued to you.
