LIKE (Life outside NIKE)is good!

GOT RIFFED In the last round. Had a toxicity free summer. Got paid severance, a bonus and found a new job! People anxious for the next round there is plenty of fish in the sea; provided you are talented and can work (in the real sense). For the bench warmers and the empty vessels who are still there I would say enjoy it while it lasts!!

Request to get RIF accepted

I raised a HR case to get RIF'ed.
In one hour my manager sent me meeting invite. We discussed the terms and on amicable terms my position was made redundant. I was given full severance package as per terms in FIS Handbook.
My Location is Alpharetta, GA.
Just open a case with HR, they will consider it with open mind. In fact, I encourage everyone not happy with current events.

Pushing Us Out

I have been with the company for over a decade and until this year every single review has been meets or above. This year I got smacked with a below meets on my mid-year check in. Can they use this to terminate me without severance? I am fine with getting laid off but I want my package.

Combination Technician in Southeast District 3

Currently CWA is in active negotiations with AT&T about the new combination technician title being created. The union can’t stop this , the title is coming. What’s being negotiated is the pay and shocker , the company wants to pay the title the same wage scale as all the titles it’s going to replace: WS32. This is a joke. They want the title to do all the dirty work of all other titles combined, which means a much larger skillset , and pay the same wage. The bigger plan though is to sc--w you all out of your severance or “surplus” pay. See , once this title exists , they can and will declare “technological surpluses “ of all the other titles and offer you a position as a combo tech. If you decline , you’re effectively quitting and not eligible to receive a single dollar of surplus or severance pay. How much you want to bet the union allows both the title to be ws32 AND have no protections from the subsequent surplus. This union is weak and will immediately roll over and show its belly.

RSR/RSU Award Question

I was laid off a few weeks ago, but was awarded shares (according to equateplus) back in 2025. The shares don’t vest until 2028. Do I lose this money or can I pull it out early now that I am displaced? I read the agreement and says something about it will continue to vest as long as I receive severance. This is all so confusing. Am I gonna lose this $ or not?

This is the goal

How are we supposed to function when every month they have these last minute meetings, so encrypted, laying thousands of us off, with no regard to the affects on those that actually generate income???

You're not supposed to function. This is their modus operandi. They want to make our lives miserable enough to quit and save them severance money. It's all part of the plan, sadly.

Severance packages available!!! Carlsbad/Hobbs

Well, guys, I was offered a severance package today, and I didn’t take it. HR told me that if I don’t accept it, I’ll most likely be laid off in mid-November during the next round of layoffs. They gave me until the 18th to make a decision, and honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore.

I was able to review the package, and it’s 11 months of pay. I also get to keep my stocks. It’s a tough decision.

Garden Leave or Immediate Termination?

Does anyone know whether, when someone is laid off, they receive a few months of garden leave, or are terminated immediately with a few month severance package instead?

Also, if anyone has gone through this, were you given a choice between garden leave and immediate termination with severance, or was it entirely decided by the company?

Crapital One is at it again!

Although my time was short with Discover/Crapital One, I have come to believe that it was a blessing in disguise! Not living day to day in a toxic environment where management lies and you wait for the hatchet any minute and knowing you are a hardworking, valuable employee, is a blessing. I hope the best for the good folks they "Crapped" on this week. Regarding the severance - take the money and run! They have surely already crafted your job posting for LinkedIn, and possibly interviewed your much younger, less costly, on-site, replacement! Crapital One is just that - One Cr-ppy Company that does not care about any employees...

Ruger Reports Profit Amid Restructuring and Investor Dispute

Sturm, Ruger & Co. achieved nearly $7 million in net income for the second quarter, a significant improvement from a loss in the same period last year. This financial turnaround was driven by increased firearm demand and enhanced production efficiency. The company also implemented a new "Ruger Business System" initiative to standardize operations and align employees with strategic goals. Ruger incurred severance expenses related to past job reductions, but these were lower than in the previous quarter. Additionally, the company reached an agreement with its largest investor, Beretta Holding SA, allowing Beretta to increase its stake while imposing a standstill on further ownership growth.

Just in case

Healthcare is volatile right now. Even with no rumors, I want to know what Cengage's severance looks like, what it includes on that front. Does anybody know where I could find out?

Paid $$ to retire!

On July 31st, eight more high seniority CWA Leg T workers in Minnesota were offered VTP which includes 104 weeks pay for most of these union workers. This amounts to about $140k to almost $200k so it's an awesome opportunity to retire with a very sweet incentive in addition to their nice pension, 401k and medical, dental and vision benefits along with eventual social security. What a sweet ending to a challenging career with T with many years ahead for enjoying well earned retirement. And management has hinted more VTP offers are to come. Great news for workers ready to leave and move on.

Know your rights if WFRed

If you're 40+ and were just laid off in Massachusetts, three things worth knowing:

1. Your unused vacation is wages. Massachusetts law treats accrued, unused vacation as wages. It must be paid out — "use it or lose it" forfeiture isn't enforceable here. If you were involuntarily terminated, it was due on your last day. Wage Act violations carry mandatory triple damages plus attorney's fees. (Earned sick time is different and generally isn't paid out.)

2. A severance release has minimum legal terms. If you're being asked to waive age discrimination claims, federal law (the OWBPA) requires: at least 21 days to consider it — 45 if it's a group layoff — a 7-day revocation window after signing that can't be waived, written advice to consult an attorney, and something of value beyond what you were already owed.

3. In a group layoff, they owe you data. When a release is offered to a group as part of a termination program, the employer must disclose in writing the decisional unit and selection criteria, plus the job titles and ages of everyone selected and the ages of everyone in that unit who wasn't. Not names — titles and ages. If that attachment is missing, the age-claim waiver may be invalid entirely.

The clock: 300 days to file with the MCAD or EEOC. It runs from the termination, not from whenever severance negotiations wrap up. Don't let a long back-and-forth eat your deadline.

General information, not legal advice — I'm not an attorney. If you're holding a severance agreement, have an employment lawyer look at it before you sign.

Why Don’t They Do Voluntary Separation Packaged

If they want to maintain or improve morale while still slashing headcount, why not offer voluntary separation packages to those who have been at the company over 8 years? You’d get headcount down, limit the angst for those who perform well and want to be there, and you can control the narrative a bit. You offer the package with a hard deadline and you celebrate those who leave with service anniversary ceremony at year end.

Company Equipment

I wonder how long we will have to wait for the VSP to be paid out after 9/4/26. They will require verification of our equipment return first, and it will only be paid out on a regular pay date. It could possibly be a month or more before they pay any of us. Hopefully we will receive our severance packet soon.

Don’t quit! Make them pay severance.

Hear me out - they want you to quit because they don’t have to pay severance or unemployment if you quit. Hang on for dear life. Do whatever it takes to get your badge swipes so they don’t fire you for cause or dock your bonus. They don’t really want casual collisions or collaboration. They know we are sitting on zoom calls everyday with teams in other locations. Work your 8 hours - no more no less - don’t be flexible for offshore or other time zones. Then they will be forced to make the “difficult decisions”. Don’t be an overachiever. Bare minimum people…

Laid off from Broadcom software? What was your notice and severance?

What was your severance and notice in the latest layoffs in California? I'm wondering if they keep on the payroll through the WARN period, with healthcare, then give you a lump sum severance after the WARN period expires?

Did you get an email, a phone call, or a zoom meet notification?

Did you get any time to clean out your laptop?

With rumors of big layoffs soon, the tagline has to be:

BE PREPARED!

What was your experience?

Stern Show Staffers Seek Better Severance

Former employees of The Howard Stern Show are negotiating for improved severance packages following recent layoffs. Many found the initial offer of one week's pay per year of service to be insufficient. Some staff members have refused to sign non-disclosure agreements as they push for more favorable exit terms. While some have reached satisfactory agreements, others are still in discussions with SiriusXM. The layoffs follow a reduction in the show's live broadcast schedule.
