Team Liquid recently experienced a new round of layoffs. This follows a previous workforce reduction seven months prior. At least five employees were impacted, according to social media posts. Affected roles included a creative coordinator and a marketing operations manager. The esports organization continues restructuring amid industry challenges.

I wish they gave us more notice before this layoff, maybe 6 months. That would give us time to get our affairs in order and enough time to prove our worth to our respective VPs.

Started layoffs on 3/17 in US and slowly going through each org and countries. Trying to keep it silent as much as possible by only targeting one or two org per week. But yea the ultimate target to achieve will be around 30k as roumered by end of qtr. Be prepared, no exceptions this time !!

Algoma Steel will proceed with most planned layoffs. Approximately 1,000 employees were initially slated for reduction. Some workers will receive extensions for training or other reasons. Workforce reductions are occurring in phases. The company is committed to providing transition assistance.

Starz recently reduced its employee count. Seven percent of its staff was affected. This action occurred 10 months after its Lionsgate separation. Starz prioritizes financial profitability and cash generation. Starz also cut 10% of its workforce in 2023.

As I understand it, the plan is to cut the panel in half over the next year. IMO this cutting our way to success is not going to work

Does anyone have the remaining known dates for layoffs this year? I just saw a comment on another post that said 3/19/26 was 1 of 4 remaining, but I’ve only seen 4/30 as the next known date.

So, if 3/19 and 4/30 are 2 of the 4 dates, what are the other 2?

So how do they decide who is laid off vs who stays? I was laid off a couple of years ago (and then came back to a different role, lower pay grade) and there were 2 of us laid off from our team of 5 - I was 48, she was in her 50's; I'd been with the company 17 years, she'd been there 9 years (1 team member that stayed was older than her, the other 2 were in their 40's but younger than me but all had been there at least 7, with 2 of them 20).

With yesterday's layoffs, there were 25 HDP pharmacists let go. I've only gotten 5 names, but of those 5 all of them are in their 50's and closer to retirement than not. 1 of them has been with the company 10 years, the others all at over 18 years.

So are they trying to get rid of older people and/or those with tenure?? And if so, isn't that ageism?

For anyone that thinks you aren’t replaceable, ponder this:

How many employees does UHC/Optum ‘really’ need to run business for jobs that can’t be automated or OGS to complete? C&S (Community & State) and a few E&I (only if US employees are required per their contract).

Whatever your answer is, cut that in # in 1/2. Once cuts are complete in Q1 2027, remaining US FTEs will be doing the work of 2-3 employees. Think not? It’s already happening.

A few questions:
How many layoffs have occurred in 2 years? How many teams disappeared?
What happened to their work?
Which depts absorbed it or was it considered irrelevant?
How many GL30+ have left in 2 years?

Stanislaus County faces significant job losses from recent company closures. Del Monte Foods is closing its Modesto fruit cannery, impacting approximately 1,800 workers. More than 2,000 Tennesseans have been affected by layoffs or closures in 2026. The Department of Labor & Workforce Development lists 2,243 affected workers. These notices span from January 13 to March 5. First Brands Group, LLC recently affected 333 workers. This closure is in Lincoln County and is set for April 30, 2026.

The Puyallup School District updated its $15 million budget reduction plan. This plan is for the 2026-2027 school year. The district saved the high school pool, gymnastics, and some elementary library services. To compensate, the district will eliminate approximately 80 to 95 positions. These cuts affect central office and school-based staff.

It’s clear Dan and the board are focused on cost and the location strategy is dead. No point having offices only 30% full and paying 100% cost. Further rifs are going to reduce sites below critical mass. So which ones are in danger?

• 2030 Why do we need people? AI can take over 50% of remaining jobs. Just needs a few oversight chums.

It just feels accountant driven to just maintain/survive - entrepreneurial spirit no longer exists. Growth is gone.

Does molina ever move some employees to a different plan when layoffs are occurring?

Edgewell Personal Care announced the closure of its Schick razor manufacturing facility. This plant is located in Milford, Connecticut. The closure will result in 293 permanent layoffs. Employee terminations are expected to begin in March 2026. The facility is slated to close permanently by the end of 2027.

Newell Brands announced significant changes for Yankee Candle. The company plans to close 20 stores. These closures affect locations in the United States and Canada. Approximately 900 Yankee Candle employees will be laid off. This action is part of a broader productivity plan.

For those remaining, PIPs will be the new norm to avoid paying severence packages. Easiest way to reduce $. Workforce will be even more slim & existing work will continue to increase w fewer resources. AI is expected to reduce the time to do the work. OGS will pick up the new jobs (+ they get a $10-20k bonus for OGS referrals).

And so it begins: the pressure from above to start using AI tools. The reality: whatever can be replaced in the next years will be. We wont need to outsource anymore, AI will do it. So, if things are bad, it will get worse.

I've been through a few layoff cycles and I don't remember ever once an employee on a H1B visa or any other work visa getting let go. H1B visa holders are considered temporary workers. Why are full time employees let go before temporary employees? Soon all of Nike will be visa workers. The American dream is for everyone except Americans.

Working in tech is such a reliable way to plan to raise a family, with long-term employment stability.
